@MrMustayne Yeah. FR/LG lacked of music. The legendary encounter theme is a joke. Your Rival could've actually had a battle theme, but fucking didn't. Team Rocket didn't have a theme either. I know they wanted it to be as close as possible to the original Red/Blue/Green, but c'mon. It was time to make some progress, and change somethings around.

Now, I grew up on Red and Blue, and that will always have the top place in my heart. At the time, I had no interest in playing Gold and Silver, so I never picked them up. In fact, HG and Soul Silver were my first intro to a region other than Kanto (my only other Pokemon game since being Fire Red).

But it absolutely must be said: this song and it's original version is one of the most epic songs in all of Pokemon, and is right up there with Routes 3 and 11 as my fave "heroic adventurer" tune.

I have not played FR/LG, and in my opinion this song sounds better just because it seems to pay more respect to the original G/S/C versions of this song. Seems that a lot of people prefer the FR/LG version because its upbeat, and given the situation in that game it should be. But the G/S/C version of the song was calm and epic simultaneously, thus so is the HG/SS version.

Most people (like myself) don't even use the Red Gyarados but hate when they kill it because it's a shiny viewable pokemon. People love shiny viewable pokemon even though they're worthless.

They're all nostalgiafags. I mean, I do have nostalgic moments when I play this but the FR/LG version was way too upbeat. It seems it's more calmer because you're heading to a lake. Which is kind of ironic since you're going to the Lake of Rage.

Yeah, I think "emotional" is completely the wrong word for it. The FRLG mix just has better instrumentation and really awesome filler parts and countermelody mixed in with the melody.

This is a remake of what was by far my favorite route music. I don't know if this is better. It's different, and that doesn't make it bad, it's good in it's own way... But the original was wonderful in its own way, too.

well, if you like the original better, theres an item called GB Sounds you get very late in the game but it changes all the music including battles, overworld, etc into the original gameboy 8-bit music. its really cool
