I think originally it was designed to be some sort of a "max protect screen pass". I believe the idea was to have a quick pass to the kicker. He then would have a huge wall of blockers in front of him and probably not enough guys on defense to pick them up. The holder just waited too long so that the rush was coming fast. Because of that he was left with no other option than to throw a hail marry.

They did take play calling away from him, but this was Zorns decision to go for it.

Actually it should count as 2 decisions because he called it twice, after the time out.

I looked into it because I wanted to know who was responsible for the all-time worst playcall in the history of the NFL.

If he did it to piss off his bosses, then bravo I guess.

But if Hunter Smith would have been hurt as a result... then he would have had to have lived with his vengeful decision.

What I'm saying is, the play was designed to be fail. Basically a symbollic middle finger to Danny. How could anyone ever think that play would work, let alone do it again after they call a time out, just my theory, but zorn was our coach last year and certainly never called any type of zaney play like that. I have a feeling we'll see some more of these on Sunday.
