I think the Beatles did a great job vocally, in fact they sang verses in doubled lead and during the chorus a single vocal with some ou la la la's thrown in plus a little Buddy Holly as well. And of course the guitar work is more complicated. This version has only one vocal no ou la la la's and the guitar work is pretty much straight with the exception of the bass player. Now he rocks. This version is slightly more uptempo. In conclusion they both stand on their own. I can listen to both.
@jayven009 m8 watch type into youtube The Beetles- How do you it and watch it its them singin it this is all time classic how you can say it sucks i dont no btw im 14 and i love this band
@kennydalglish56 It is the BEATLES Not BEETLES I love the Beatles believe me I heard their first hit on the radio in 1963 or 64 But Gerry and pacemakers blow them away on this song Beatles sound like Old men on it...
@2bwhiteproud The Beatles didn't want to play this song and it was George Martin who wanted them to release it thinking it was a guaranteed hit. They pushed for Love me Do and we can only thank George Martin that he gave in and let them have their way.
@lucas07700 I assure you it was not. A quick glance at the release dates of the respective records, or even the most brief glance through a history of the band, will tell you that it was Love Me Do.
@jayven009 If you listen to The Beatles' recording, you can hear that they're not singing passionately like they do with most of their songs. They preferred singing their own material. Gerry and the Pacemakers did a very good job with this song.
Thanks for uploading this, like he said it wasn't on youtube anywhere else except for live versions. I actually do like the live version just as good, the intro is more guitar instead of piano and it sounds more rocky but both are good. Can't ever go wrong with original recording. Thanks
Brilliant! thanks for uploading this as Youtube doesnt have this song on at all!! brilliant! very drunk dancing in my kitchen at new years eve to this! cheers :)

May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author is a big fan of this track.
