  • I bet a traditional Arkansas Thanksgiving dinner was the Levon's style with some pickin' and grinin'....What a talent...I love the Band and Levon's contribution...

  • @vozzervox Pretty one with the curls......

  • Outstanding cover. Levon Helm is such a soulful singer.

  • @vozzervox To your right of Levon, taking a drink as this begins.

  • I love Sam Bush!!!

  • one of the greatest covers ever!

    ty for sharing!

    -crowe

  • @bluescrowe Cover?

  • @marydwyer14119 bruce springsteen's song

i agree its one of the best covers ever

  • @marydwyer14119 Perfomed on the Band's albumn "Jericho" years back.

  • remember seeing the Band in the early '70's. great, great show...or maybe it was the mescaline. either way, this is superb. my favorite bruce sprinsteen song & i'm not even a huge springsteen fan--though i've seen him twice. gotta love that levon!!

  • Almost forgot how what a great tune this is!!!

  • I love the Boss and I love his version of the song is one of my favorite songs. Levon's version blows it away.

  • this is absolutely fantastic. Levon Helm was amazing. One of most soulful presence in music I think. He gave the Band a 'feeling' that I can't describe but is hard to reproduce. Like thunder rolling softly, or grassfields out the car window.

  • Even without the Band, Levon still does a great version here. RIP Danko and Manuel

  • Levon Helm is the man

  • Thanks for posting....Awe-inspiring...PEACE

  • Levon has the most honest voice in the world!

  • legendary voice, legendary tune

  • This is very cool, but if you have never heard the Band's version on the 1994 album Jericho, I highly recommend it.

That version is even cooler than this one, cos it has the extra added benefit of Garth Hudson's world-class accordian carrying the melody, plus Danko's harmony vocals. It's my favorite song from the '90s version of the Band

  • I saw the L.H. Band last night at Wolf Trap ( Vienna, VA ) and sadly they didn't play this but man what a band he has! This version is nice but his version on Jericho w/ The Band and as you mentioned, Hudson & Danko is UnF****** unbelievable. The best cover version of any song i have ever heard....surpasses the great original by Bruce no doubt.

I bought the cd and couldn't stop re-playing that one song over and over again!

Last night they did another song from that cd, Blind Willie McTell.

  • @sophiesage I saw him in Charlotte NC this yr..What an awesome band he has is RIGHT! Best concert I've been to in a long time! I saw The Band multiple times in the 70s; have never been swept away by any band like I was by them; I doubt that I will be. Lots of bands had their chance; I have seen pretty much everyone that has ever hit the road. I wish Rick and Richard could be here to share in the success b/c as Levon says; he keeps the music alive for them; finally many of those struggles r gone.

  • Sounds great, nice job on the camera work. Gotta love Levon.

  • inspirational! Sends chills up the spine!!This is beautiful..

  • just discover The Band cover of this great song! I started searching you tube for a video of the band singing Atlantic City and found this treausure!!! Thank you, thank you emmylunatic!

  • this is a great song

  • Not at all, "emmylunatic"...!

To me you made such a terrific effort to capture that historic moment of the concert in the best version as tribute to Bruce Springsteen, I thank you so much specially because you got the nerve to film among the scattering shadows when there was a brilliant sun in front of your camera shining with happiness to fulfill my heart! Gracias mil, desde México (B-p)...

  • great song great version, levon is a legend

  • what a legend.

saw this at the ryman, emmylou, sheryl crow and john hiatt also joined in the proceedings.

    just amazing

  • I'd been cutting a rug. Levon Helm is part of the soul of rock and roll.

  • Did you consider telling everyone to sit the F down?

  • Thank you again for this wonderful clip! You made my day!
