If only the royal family were motivated to take back Korea from the Japanese, instead of a split country that the Americans and Soviets made a mistake.
@Patrick12391 : You mean in 0:18??? Its Emperor Kojong of Korea. The last Korean King before Korea was annexed to Japan (his successor Emperor Sunjong in 3rd pictures looks like just a figurehead Emperor under the Japanese, CMIIW).
The lyrics of this song is not the one composed by Eckert nor the one rewritten during the Japanese intrusion into korea. This lyrics is one of those many modern lyrics written to fit the hymn of the original Korean Empire anthem
@initialdody oh sorry about that. I didn't understand. Uhm I haven't seen this song's lyrics although I have seen like four or five other versions with different lyrics
I think not really the composer but are take a part of it. The original Japanese National Anthem are composed by John William Fenton and the current version by Hayashi Hiyomori.

The anthem was supposedly to be in same line as "God Save the Queen", a British anthem.

May its people live comfortably
May our influence and power reach across the world
May independence, freedom and wealth be renewed every day
God help our nation

@initialdody The English translation of the Japanese revised lyrics God help the emperor
May he live forever
Bestow treasures like mountain-piles
May his influence and power reach across the world
Fifty thousand times may his blessings be renewed every day
God help the emperor
Im not so sure how to pronounce the lyrics since they are old Korean. Also, I think Min yeonghwan is the author of the revised lyrics
XuBianLi 1 year ago
Something about the old Korean & Japanese anthems sound similar (in the beginning)?
