Minor Environmental I was personally witness this type of aeration unit totally rejuvinate seepage devices. This guy knows what he's talking about. After 40,000 inspections in N/E Illinois especially the collar counties were anerobic soils conditions, they will work in the most adverse conditions. Commonly refered as Class 1 aeration units the not ony ad oxygen to the soils but remove up to 99% of suspended solids. Minor Environment a Registered Sanitarian can help you restore your system
Average cost of City sewer over 4 years $1500-2500 ..... Average cost of proper maintenance of septic system over 4 years $250-500 .... Now ask yourself what you'd rather have
There are several problems with planting a tree. The tree would probably die, due to poisoning. If it didn't, its roots system would eventually destroy the tank.
Another alternative to biodegradation within the second compartment of the septic tank is actually similar to your idea - it is a marshlike system in your drainage or leach field.
Or you can do other things, like have a wood chip biodegradation toilet.

Nations such as the US should have their HDI lowered cause they dont have proper sanitation. Like 90%of the houses have this kind of lousy system and nobody seems to care about it. From now on I'll boil every single drop of water I drink even if its from the most remote spring in Maine...lol
90% of the homes in the US DO NOT use septic . septic systems are a natual and very natural way of dealing with waste . city water "TREATment" plants rely on chemicals to kill bactria such as chlorine ,flourides and many other foul chemicals . as for remote springs, you should never drink unfiltered/purified water; mountain goats and moose love deucing in the rivers and springs . colorea is almost nonexistant in the US unlike europe's 500 y old sewage systems .
@crabtrap I mightve exagetated saying 90%, but i still think that the majority of the houses in US throw their sewage underground. Maybe those close to the cities have it disposed properly. But how about the suburban houses?
@ELFELICIANO suberban homes almost always use public water treatment plants .
but remember that a treatment plant does almost the same thing as a private septic system ( and that is the same in most all countries unless they burn the waste) . usually a single home septic is on a large property(at least a few acres) ,mother nature does a great job of converting organic waste to safe water/compost in a very short time
You state the biomat formation is from anaerobic bacteria and (6:03) "Intestinal bacteria". This is also inaccurate. The biomat is formed where native microorganisms come into contact with the effluent and is a combination of the biological growth and inorganic residues.
You state that with the unit in operation a homeowner does not need to pump the tank and then you offer 6 month guarantee. I'd hate to see the owner after a few years with a full tank try to get his guarantee!
As a Public Health Inspector I can see a number of inaccuracies and errors in your video.
1) at 1:35 you state that the standard septic system is anaerobic, operating without oxygen. This is not accurate, only the tank is anarobic. The standard disposal field REQUIRES oxygen to function. The native bacteria and microorganisms in the soil utilize the bacteria and nutrients in the tank for a food source.

this is why septic systems FAIL.
My house is connected directly to a sewer, ha!

Enjoy your sewer bill. A properly maintained septic tank is both better for the environment and less costly to the homeowner over the long term.
