There is so much more energy in this live version than in the recorded version with Hayward and Lodge. It's clear that these guys were a great blues and bar band with that energy, while the later version was destined for different, more creative music. But that energy here is just fantastic and Clarke fit right in.
OMG! My daughter and I watched this together about 4 years ago.We have been obssessed with the guy at the end who is standing staring into the camera(in the middle of the crowd) We called him hair boy and talk of him often although I could not remember the name of the band. I suddenly thought it may have been the moody blues and may have been in Europe and hey presto! Here it is!! Does anyone know who he is?? This is a great video!!
How great is THIS then to find this track here? Meanwhile the ultrarare cutting which was filmed in 1966 for the German telecast "Beat Club"! Thanks a lot for uploadin' it from Germany!
@DieselProductions11 No. The Line up is Pinder, Edge, Thomas, Denny Laine, Rod Clarke. Clint Warwick had already left by this point. I think this was the last weeks of the Mk1 Moodies before Lodge joined then followed by Hayward.
mmmmh well yes it`s `long way from "nights" but Mike does show his keyboard talents, still bring him the Mellotron then we get the Moodies that we know and love
This was released as a B side to Fly me High ..Saw the Moodies a few times in those early days ...As a live band only Spencer Davis could compare..If you like this..Get yourselve`s "The Magnificent Moodies" CD
I wasn't expecting to find an upload of this song period, much less ACTUAL FOOTAGE of them performing it! Look at Mike Pinder work those keys and Graeme Edge doing his best Ringo! Look at what bands USED TO BE ABLE TO DO! This is just too cool!
I have had this clip for a long time and even I was surprised to realise that its a different line up from the recording. Its also interesting that the falsetto backing vocals started with Clint Warwick, and Rod Clarke and John Lodge followed that precedence.

Can't believe that this is (Mike) the same person who used to sing Om in 1968!
