  • An undefeated season is a tremendous achievement, still, the 1972 Miami Dolphins are no the best team that ever set foot on a football field. The best season record ever produced, yes, they did that....with a regular season schedule that included all of 3 teams with winning records. There were teams before them and numerous teams after them that would have beaten them.

  • The Ghost creeped on Green Bay this year...

  • Miami Dolphins.............

  • Dolphins have greater legacy than the Steelers!

  • My big brother was killed in Vietnam War 1970, I was lonely 12 yr old kid in 1972 with no father or brother. But I had a big sister and her boyfriend Terry Boland decide to take me to Dolphin home games. I will always be grateful to Terry and feel it was special to see the undefeated Fins' in a time of such turmoil for me as a child. Thankyou '72 Dolphins for giving me something to smile about for the rest of my life!

  • @dsomera4600 what a history, i will be so proud if you be my friend

  • now imagine if we didnt lose Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, and Paul Warfield to the IFL... we probably would of competed with the Steelers for 5-10 more years, probably won 2-3 more superbowls and become the dynasty of the 1970's.

  • I will always be a dolphin now and forever Go FINS !

  • The Colts, the Raiders, the Redskins, the Bears, the 49ers, the Cowboys, the Patriots, the Broncos, the Saints, and the Steelers have all failed to achieve perfection. Only time will tell which team will achieve perfection next, for all we know it could once again be the Dolphins.

  • Best EVER. Every other great team had at least 1 flaw. This one didn't. Perfect is perfect. Logically, rationally and otherwise. THE BEST. Not my opinion, but FACT. 1.000 win percentage. Can't touch this... 85 Bears had a flaw. 70s Steelers had flaws. 80s 49ers had flaws. 72 Dolphins...PERFECT. Can't argue cold hard FACT.

  • @TheKpaxx Rocky Marciano was 49-0, perfect, cold hard fact.

But Ali still would have whipped his ass.

Given Ali inhis prime was also undefeated 29-0 when they took his license for 3 1/2 years so maybe I'm contradicting my self.

But I still feel the past prime Ali of around 72 who had a couple close losses would have beaten Marciano.

  • @HinesXL This is merely conjecture. To say that Ali "would have whipped [Marciano's] ass" is an overstatement, and it's not really something you can prove. Though Ali beat Chuvalo twice, I wouldn't say that he "whipped his ass," and Marciano was better than Chuvalo. Also, Frazier was very competitive with Ali, and he was a short, hard working, blue-collar fighter like Marciano. Ali himself said that Marciano deserves to be rated number 2 behind him, though, he also said this about frazier

  • @MrJack83124 Prime Ali never fought Frazier or Chuvalo.

All of those bouts were after Ali had lost 3 1/2 years of his prime.

I will support your argument a bit by saying that a prime Ali was also undefeated at 29-0.

Still, I believe the Ali who barely lost to Frazier in 71 would have beaten Marciano because what threw Ali of fin that fight was Joe's extremely quick head movement combined with Ali's loss of timing after the layoff which would not have been a factor vs the much slower Rock.

  • @HinesXL Not in his prime? The guy was 29 years old. Typically, fighters are at their best in their late 20s early 30s. Secondly, saying the Rock was slow isn't really fair. There's a video called "Rocky Marciano Underated Defense" on YouTube. You should check it out. Also, keep in mind that Rocky could fight for 15 rounds without slowing down and that he could punch with conviction at the end of a fight just as well as he could at the beginning of a fight.

  • @MrJack83124 29 but out of the ring for 3 1/2 years. Ali wasn't boxing during his exile.

All athletes have to maintain their conditioning during layoffs.

I haven't seen any all weight or heavy weight lists that rank Marciano ahead of Ali.

Also Czonka can talk all he wants but he's rather have won SB VI and have three rings over just 2.

Like I've said, there are no players with multiple SB rings who would give one up so that one of the others would be part of an undefeated season.

  • @HinesXL actually, Ali fought both Jerry Quarry and Oscar Bonavena before the Frazier fight, so to say that he hadn't fought in 3 years is untrue. He was prepared, yet he lost. I don't mean to say that Rocky Marciano was better than Ali. I don't think that he was. I took issue with you saying that Ali would've whipped his ass. Ali himself said that it would've been competitive. I agree with the comment in regards to super bowl rings, but what the Dolphins did in 72 is unprecedented.

  • @HinesXL actually, Ali fought both Jerry Quarry and Oscar Bonavena before the Frazier fight, so to say that he hadn't fought in 3 years is untrue. He was prepared, yet he lost. • @MrJack83124 and what the 72 Dolphins did during their era is unprecedented. The only fair way to evaluate teams is to look at what they did during their respective eras. The Dolphins arguably had the most dominant 3 year stretch in NFL history, before they lost 3 key offensive stars.

  • @MrJack83124 Those two fights weren't enough for a fighter as good and as Frazier in 71 who Ali underestimated.

Even with a couple of bouts he still lost 3 1/2 prime years which affected conditioning and timing.

Don't you feel he wouldn't have had to go the distance with Bonavena had he not been in exile?

He was clearly sluggish vs Bonavena which had he been active he would have never looked so bad at that point.

I agree at 29 he could have been prime but only had he not been gone so long

  • @HinesXL In regards to going the distance with Bonavena, that doesn't surprise me; Bonavena was a tough guy. I think Jerry Quarry was fine preparation for Ali though; he was coming off of 4 wins, and he would go on to beat both Earnie Shavers and Ron Lyle after his first loss to Ali, so he was a definite contender in the division at the time. Frazier plainly and simply had a difficult style for Ali, though Ali got the better of him twice. And Marciano would have given him problems as well.

  • @MrJack83124 I agree that Frazier's style presented more of a challenge to Ali than a taller fighter but it was more due to his head movement than being shorter.

A prime 60s Ali defeated shorter fighters much easier than the 70s Ali did Frazier.

I am a fan of Marciano and I agree he hit harder than Frazier but i can't see a prime Ali not being able to land frequently early and often to Rock's head because he did not have the bob and weave Joe did.

  • @HinesXL again, watch the video entitled Rocky Marciano underrated defense; he was better than you think at slipping punches, though, not quite as good as Joe when it comes to that. If Rock had fought Ali in the 70s, there would have been a good chance of him being stopped early due to cuts, though I can't really see Ali scoring a clean KO. If they had fought in Rock's time, however, the fight probably would've gone 15 rounds; recall the Charles fight where Rock was cut badly but still won.

  • @MrJack83124 Marciano's slippin punches isn't the same as Frazier bob and weave head movement..

Those are two different defensive styles.

I do not consider Ali in the 70s prime.

I still consider 70s Ali one of the best but the 60s Ali, especially 66/67 was another level we will never see again that would have continued in to the later 60s and early 70s had he not been stripped of his license and belt.

  • @HinesXL once again, this is conjecture; there is no way to prove this. Secondly, 60s Ali was nearly knocked out by Henry Cooper, a fighter who was not as good as Marciano. Angelo Dundee purposely tore Ali's glove so he could have more time to recover after Ali got clocked. There is no such thing as an unbeatable fighter; Ali was great, but Marciano would've been a difficult fight for him, win or loss. Ali said this himself...

  • @MrJack83124 As I said, Ali especially 66 or 67. The Ali that beat Cleveland Williams and Zora Foley was clearly reaching a prime that we can only imagine how good he would have been. can you imagine him getting better that that.

Both Williams and Foley were vets who were disciplined fighters.

The Ali who lost to Cooper in 63 was sill growing and he only got tagged because

    he got cocky and lazy.

many rate Liston of 62.64 over Marciano who hit as hard with a longer reach and stiffer jab

  • @HinesXL but Cleveland Williams and Zora Foley are not by any means the best fighters Ali ever fought. Frazier and Norton who gave Ali more problems were far better fighters. And Ali didn't lose to Cooper, but he nearly lost; and if you blame it on being lazy, that's still his fault. Part of being the best is being prepared at all times. And when it comes to the all time ratings by the supposed experts, many of these people can't predict a boxing match to save their lives.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrJack83124 Williams was getting older but Foley was picked by many at the time to win or at least make it a good match due to his "Joe Louis" style. Foley modeled his style after Louis and said after the fight that Louis would not stand a chance vs Clay (Ali). He continued to say that he was hit with were too fast and he never saw them coming and just when you think you've got him you don't.

Again you bring up Frazier and Norton, both who met Ali after his prime.

  • @HinesXL We've already established that Ali was 29 when he met Frazier for the first time. You say that the Ali before his layoff was "prime Ali," and you base that off of his performances, but he fought weaker competetion. Yes, Liston was an all time great, but I wouldn't say he was as good as Frazier. We can only speculate how matches between men who never fought would've gone. Rather than allowing personal bias to determine our thoughts, we should try to be more objective

  • @MrJack83124 Closest 70s Ali came to prime was 74 although 32, he had been back long enough, 4 years, to sort of hit a stride again and beat two great opponents, Frazier/Foreman.

His timing/conditioning was clearly better in 74 than in 70/71. Just like in 1964 after 4 years of boxing he really started peaking but due to youth continued to improve in to 67

70s competition was better but the fact that he won those bouts in his 30s tells me he would have dominated when he was faster and quicker.

  • @HinesXL But he was a more careless, bragadocious figther when he was younger; recall the first Chuvalo fight where he allowed him to punish him to the body early on, and of course, we've already talked about the first Cooper fight. He was a wiser, smarter fighter in the 70s, though he lost a bit of speed. Ultimately, though, his performances in the 60s don't prove that he would've "whipped Marciano's ass"; Marciano was better than anybody Ali fought in the 60s, including Liston.

  • @MrJack83124 I would say that Marciano and Liston is a toss up.

Even if Rock was better than Sonny it not by much and Ali dominated Liston, absolutley owned him.

When I said "whip his ass" I just meant even if it went the distance or was a late TKO for Ali, Marciano would look as if he had his ass whipped due to the length of the bout.

Even Frazier looked that way on his best night in a victory vs an Ali who had only had 2 fights in 3 1/2 years.

  • @HinesXL I don't think you meant that Rock would only look like he got his ass whipped. But back to the Dolphins and why this is important. The early 70s Dolphins, during their era, were the most dominant team in NFL history since the superbowl era began. Teams can only play during their eras, just as boxers can only fight during their eras, and we must judge them on what they did in those particular eras. Also, keep in mind that the 72 Dolphins featured 6 hall of famers on their roster.

  • @MrJack83124 Had Miami lost 1 game by 1 point on opening day at the gun on a 50 yd FG they would have been no less of a team but their status in history would have dropped tremendously.

I praise them more for winning 3 consecutive AFC Championships and back to back SBs.

It was a cruel fate that a team who achieved what Miami did was followed in the same decade by a Steelers team who won 4 SBs in 6 years and went back to back not once but twice with 9 HOF players and a coach for 10

  • @HinesXL the 72 Dolphins had 7 HOF members then counting Don Shula. And I have to wonder if the Steelers would have won in 74 had the Dolphins not lost Larry Csonka, Paul Warfield, and Jim Kiick. Imagine if the Steelers had lost Franco Harris, Lynn Swann, and Rocky Bleir. Also, the 72 Dolphins managed to win 9 games with their back up QB. And no team in the history of the league has had a more dominant 3 year stretch, though the 70s Steelers definitely had a longer run of dominance.

  • @MrJack83124 74 Miami still had all 3 in the 74 "Sea of Hands" loss to Oakland. It wasn't until 75 that those 3 left.

72-76 Steelers had D player of the year 3 years in a row and 4 times in 5 years.

72 Rookie of the Year and 78 NFL MVP

73-79 twice had 11 pro bowlers, twice had 10 and no less than 6 the other years.

Perfect 72 Miami beat Pittsburgh by 4 pts before Lambert, Swann, Stallworth Webster were even drafted and Bradshaw was still maturing and Blount and Ham were only in 2nd seasons.

  • @HinesXL Bob Griese didn't start that game vs Pittsburgh; he came in after the 2nd half. The nature of the game changed after Griese came in, and it would have likely been a more pronounced victory if he had started the entire game. And you seem to downplay the idea of an undefeated season and post season; this happened 38 years ago...and it has yet to be duplicated. It is the most amazing accomplishment any NFL team has ever achieved, bar none.

  • @MrJack83124 It was something that just sort of happened and as much as I hate NE and was more that glad to hear Mecury Morris talk trash after NE lost, fact is the Pats went 18-0 and actually beat the Giants a few weeks earlier so had the 07 season been 14 reg season and 17 total games they would have been undefeated as well.

I would still take the same nucleus going undefeated in the post season 4 times in 6 years.

No one would give up even 1 of 4 SB rings for an undefeated season.

  • @HinesXL okay, the pats went undefeated in the regular season, but winning in the post season is much more difficult. I think that there are a few other teams over the years who could have gone undefeated in the regular season. A couple of years ago both the Saints and the Colts probably could have gone undefeated in the regular season. But most teams rest their starters at the end of the regular season so as to have everybody healthy through the postseason.

  • @MrJack83124 I have to wonder if the Colts and Saints would have made it to the superbowl had they not rested their starters at the end of tthe 2009 season. This is why what the Dolphins did was phenomenal. Sure, what the pats did was great, but they ultimately could not get it done. Also, when you say that "it just happened," you downplay how dominant this team really was. Keep in mind that they went to the superbowl the year before, and they won the superbowl the year after.

  • @MrJack83124 I hate NE so thank God for that. I loved hearing Mercury Morris talk smack after the game.

You had an obvious reason to cheer for the Giants but I didn't want Belichick to tie Noll with 4 Rings or Brady to tie Bradshaw and Montana. At least Montana is from Western Pa.

70s was the golden era for sure. Miami, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Oakland, Minnesota.

  • @HinesXL wish I'd been alive at the time. I was born in 83 so I never really got to appreciate the great Miami teams.

  • @MrJack83124 I was born in 70 so I was to little to experience young to even remember the early or mid 70s. I have some decent memories of the late 70s Steelers as I was 8 and 9. But like you learned to appreciate things that happened long ago with my team as you did yours through highlight films and interviews.

It's really no different than being in school or college learning about a war or civilization from before we were born from professors who weren't there either.

  • @HinesXL Minnesota. Just adds salt to the wounds. Haha, I swear we are cursed. We should have a minimum 4 superbowl titles by now. I really think the Minnesota Vikings are the best franchise to never win a title.

  • man I wasn't even born yet when they went 17-0 then the next year they won superbowl VIII, so it was nice to know when I was born in September of 1974 they were still the Defending superbowl champs, but I was glad when the New York giants stopped the Patriots in superbowll XLII & kept the 1972 dolphins alive.

  • @bigwillietheb Yep. I was born in August of 1974. I'm sure as soon as we die they will win the SB again.

  • @bigwillietheb i too am happy the patriots ewww cant believe i typed thier name lol did not win either long live the legacy!

  • 1972 Miami Dolphins will always be #1 All-Time Greatest Champions!

  • hiii

  • without lying and cheating*

  • How many games did the '07 Patriots lose?

One more than the '72 Dolphins.

  • @miafan89 thats 1 too many

  • all these pats fans still talking about 2007 patriots and how good they are this year... who cares, no matter how good you guys play, people will try to compare you guys to the best team ever... '72 Dolphins. the best team in the NFL each season gets compared to the '72 Dolphins... not the '07 Pats, but the '72 Dolphins :) 1:39 - 2:21 <-- that should shut up every hater out there...

  • @DrSqkuirtle i was lucky to have seen most of the 72 dolphins games on tv, they were a machine, smart, disciplined, never panicked, i have to say yes, best team ever, and i am a chiefs fan, and the dolphins ended the chiefs run as a premier team in the legandary double ot christmas classic in 71. the chiefs have never been the same...

  • Whoevers fighting , patriots dominate THIS season , out of so many , but ..... DOLPHINS just need a QB , promise you we will take it home next season with a good QB .... So get burned , You need some ice ? x)

  • BEST. TEAM. EVER.

  • MIAMI DOLPHINS:when will win the super bowl???

  • @ NYSports130

LMAO, you shouldn't talk! The jets have SUCKED for 6 decades. Joe Blow Namath was a drunk. I admit, JETS went tithe AFC title game but showed there true gay colors.....Fag Green and came out to be the Same o'l Jets. Sorry fags, maybe next time.

    J-E-T-S....Suck Suck Suck

  • @fenderjagmeister

Your a fucking retard, you say they couldn't do that to the teams today, that the rules were different. No Shit! The rules this year were different from last year.72 Fins used lesser equipment and played by the book. They would last longer and destroy your team. Give it up, you wish you were a DOLFAN.

  • @Charlydx21 iam wiping my sack on a rookie dan marino card right now . your the one worried it. if you know so much about football. maybe you can be a jock strap collector for the duhpins . and i don't have a team. so go blow joe blow.

  • @fenderjagmeister

You are a Jets fan. Admit it, Troll.

  • Simply put the 72 Dolphins were the GREATEST EVER..'''

  • Sigh, if only Tyree doesn't make the catch......and I'm a Rams fan.

  • Best Team ever!!

  • Chiefs lose! THE RECORD'S SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Don't worry, Larry Csonka! Today the Colts will be GHOSTBUSTERS! The ultimate Ghostbusters of them all were the '85 Dolphins beating the Bears and the '07 Giants causing the Pats to be 18 AND NO!

  • Chiefs are going down today! THE RECORD'S SAFE!

  • the 72 dolphins could not even be competitive if they were playing in today's football. the rules have changed so much and every player is faster and stronger then any team back then . there wasn't nearly as much expected from them. now you have fan's that expect to see the best and now you have the fantasy. so much more is riding on it now. it's very laughable that people are still talking about this. when so many better powerhouse teams have came along.

  • @fenderjagmeister Okay, but if the teams are SO good as you say they are, why hasnt it been duplicated. What powerhouse team has done it? Obviously none of the teams have done it, so there obviously not the best ever. I laugh at people like you.

  • the 72 dolphins could not even be competitive if they were playing in today's football. the rules have changed so much and every player is faster and stronger then then any team back then . there wasn't nearly as much expected from them. now you have fan's that expect to see the best and now you have the fantasy. so much more is riding on it now. it's very laughable that people are still talking about this. when so many better powerhouse teams have came along.

  • @fenderjagmeister You're really 26? My god, hopefully in a couple decades you'll remember what you thought about the '72 Dolphins and realize what a moron you were for making this comparison. Perfection is perfection, no one cares what fucking year it is.

  • @SFNightTripper i bet you didn't see the 72 dolphins play in that super bowl. i did. and i seen the 67 green bay packers play in the ice bowl. so your off by just a few decades. and miami is not the usa any more it's cuba. so who gives a shit about the duhfins

  • @fenderjagmeister You must be awful at math. If you're 26 you weren't old enough to see either of those.

  • @SFNightTripper the key word is if you're. how many people tell their real age on the internet ? like none.

  • lmao, too bad u guys couldnt win any with the best quarterback ever on ur team, its cuz the dolphins SUCKED, and guess what, THEY STILL SUCK, J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @NYSports130 Bitch, you had brett farve as your QB and still couldnt win the super bowl. lmao. When was the last time the Jets were even in the superbowl? LMAO. I think it was super bowl three? lmao. Listen man, go suck sanchez dick and watch me laugh when you guys dont make the superbowl, shit you guys would probably have a better chance if you got Broadway Joe back on the team...

  • @407Derek u mad?

  • @NYSports130 No, I just think its really funny when you think the jets are something special when there not.

  • @NYSports130 lmfao is that why we kicked yalls ass 3 times last yr fukn lameass HA!

  • dolphins 4 life bitches ! <3

  • Proud to be from Miami.

  • 17-0 so what? That's nothing, i hear there was a team in the NBA that once won 24 in a row.

  • @setokaiba991

really they played a 82% team in the superbowl and 2 75%+ in the playoffs u fail fuck

  • How do you spell perfect???? DOLPHINS!!!!!

  • never played a team over .500 lol

  • All of you who would consider hate towards the 72 dolphins please consider this......Football back in the 60's and 70's was far more brutal than it is today with protective equipment that was sub-par at best.Back then you didn't get flagged for slapping a guy in the helmat or yoking a man buy the collar. That gets you thrown out the game and fined nowadays.Trust me these men would trounce whatever pre-modanna training camp hold-out glam team you see on the boobtube nowadays..

  • It's not fair to compare the 1972 Dolphins to current teams.

The 1972 Dolphins did not have to face a long 16 game season.

In addition, the NFL season may be extended to 18 games in the regular season. Which would make beating their perfect season almost impossible for teams today.

  • @deadbutmoving So what the hell do you call 18-0? a cakewalk?Sad to see an armchair qb find an excuse to hate, MIAMI 18-0, new englandaaaah whatever they're name is....18-1............

  • Overrated !!

  • @BuffaloHeroes Are you a bills fan? You must be....so sad.You guys never quite pulled it off, oh well maby in 2020.

  • @mandingo11bravo

Yawn yes they were 17-0 but if you look closely overrated sad that Miami has been to a bowl since 73.

  • @BuffaloHeroes 17-0 is sad? But buffalo going to 4 straight superbowls and losing them ALL? that's a fail.

  • @Nmboy305

    Haha ovarrated !.

  • @Nmboy305 Here are some of the BEST teams that achieved extraordinary success and contributed to the NFL: Green Bay Packers-most titles and won first 2 superbowls, Miami Dolphins- perfect season, Pittsburgh Steelers- most superbowls, San Fran 49ers- 80s dominance, Dallas Cowboys- 90s dominance, and New England Patriots- 2000s dominance. These are basic info you can get on wiki. But the funny thing is, i didn't see any about the Buffalo Bills on that list. LOL!! xD

  • @Tomahawk511 Good stuff bro lol

  • @Nmboy305 HA thats funny as hell go dolphins!!

  • @BuffaloHeroes They havn't won a bowl since '73 but havn't they been up there in '84?? xD

  • @Tomahawk511

1984 and your point is what they lost !.

  • @mandingo11bravo Talk to me when you guys win a ring.Maby it was forever ago... but we still have two superbowl rings. More than a lot of other teams can claim.Win first bills fan.Oh and going four years in a row to lose doesn't count.Maby the bills SHOULD move to toronto.

  • @mandingo11bravo Man as far as im concerned i dont want the fuckin Bills coming over in LA. I dont give a dam which team is coming to LA, it'll always be my second fav after the Dolphins who showed these NFL quackheads what a perf. season looked like. LOL!!!

  • @BuffaloHeroes HAHAHA I FUKIN LUV HATERS!!

  • @420JohnnieBoi

I love people that know nothing haha !

  • @BuffaloHeroes lmfao me to so how does 0-7 feel hahaha

  • I laugh at people when they hate on my Dolphins.

  • @dolphinbuc LMAO ME TO I LUV IT BRO

  • Sorry you gay patriots,we are the real perfect season team,no cheating when on in 1972.that was the year i was born.SO WHAT CHA LOOKIN AT NIGGA,STEP THE FUCK BACK.

  • When football players were MEN and not multi million dollars who miss games because of stubbed toes. These guys had heart and guts and played 100% every week, no matter how hurt or tired. Men who played football BEFORE football players became self absorbed 'gods'.

This is why the 72 team would smoke ANY SB team since , no matter the hype (yeah, I'm talking to you, Patriots, and your referees).

  • PLEASE SUPPORT THE MIAMI DOLPHINS AND BUY THIS DVD ON AMAZON... FOR ONLY A DOLLAR A DAY YOU CAN BE A MIAMI DOLPHINS FAN.

  • they only faced two teams with winning records, both of which were only 8-6. Not really that impressive once you look at the stats.

  • @ZTM420 it dosent matter they had an easy schedule but they still won the super bowl so yeah its all good

  • @ZTM420 ANYONE ONE WHO SAYS EASY SCHEDULE.. THATS WHY THERE ARE PLAYOFFS. THEY DIDNT GO UNDEFEATED IN REGULAR SEASON AND GET A FREE PASS.

  • Who did the Dolphins beat in the 72 season? The Dolphins didn't beat one playoff team in the regular season? They beat two teams with a winning record all year? KC 8-6 and the Giants 8-6? Both failed to make the playoffs. The combined record of the teams they faced was 68-122 .357 . Its a farce that this team is called the best ever? No way. The 71 Cowboys destroyed the Dolphins 24-3 in SB VI the year before. The media are a bunch of a_ _ holes for sure.

  • Comment removed

  • @dallas5sb It is sad how all these jealous numbnut bozos like Cowboys fans are always talking shit. Undefeated bitch , they beat who was on the schedule. We are talking 1972 not 1971 asswipe. You are a buffoon . What was your Cowgirls record in 72-73. You are dynasty of trash. Don't hate the 72 Dolphins hate the 72 Cowboys cause they failed cause they were losers. Dolpins 72 Undefeated choke on that choker!!!! And the media are assholes cause they actually pay attention to the Cowboys!!! Die

  • @dallas5sb Regardless of who Miami beat they were all professional football teams. The Steelers have 6 SB titles but I don't talk smack about the 72 Dolphins. Miami did something that a million teams with soft schedules haven't done. Then after that they repeated as SB Champs in 73, They were 32 and 2 over two seasons and appeared in 3 straight SBs Staubach and landry NEVER repeated like Miami did and Pittsburgh did twice 74/75, 78/79 for 4 SBs in 6 years.

  • @dallas5sb hmm who did they beat? We beat the best in the playoffs didn't we? Then we beat the best of the NFC... You HAVE to beat the best to be the best. we were the superbowl champs and you have to think about this realistically, the hearts those 72 players had was unmatched. Through 17 games you think they didnt have a bad game? They had several but their hearts and minds were much stronger than the people they played against. They were a true team. They never let a bad game overcome them

  • "Sea Of Hands"

    go Raiders!

  • lol Think about all the times it could have been another team undefeated.

Dolphins beating the 85 bears. Eli manning with a star wars jedi like pass under pressure to preserve the drive that beat the Patriots ( my friend still has that video on youtube check it out complete with Jedi starwars music lol and yes he lives in Miami and is a dolphins fan but hated the patriots LOL DOLPHINS #1!!!!

  • I'm from Alabama, and the 1972 Dolphins are still my favorite NFL team. I hope no one ever breaks their record Ain't it funny that the NE Patsies went through the regular season undefeated, and then lost the Super Bowl?

  • jets had them beat in miami until clifton mcneil's fumble in the 4th quarter!!

  • Dios bendiga a todos los que hicieron esto posible, Mismi Dolphins are #1

  • I AM PROUD TO BE FROM MIAMI

  • PATS WHAT THE HELL!!!! I CANT GET OVER IT!!!!! YOU HAD IT!!! SO CLOSE!!! and guess whos fault it was? the offensive line, im on the offensive line...

  • luv my fins....ready for some football ..its march 2 lol ...who dat all over them colts...lol great game saints

  • New England Who!?!?!?!?!

  • Miami will win the Super Bowl next year! This is our Year!

  • The 72 Dolphins even did this with a 40 year old back up QB! Soft schedule my butt!

  • The 72 dolphins aren't as good as their record says they are. They played 2 teams during the regular season with a winning record and were UNDERDOGS going into the super bowl.

  • You are right about their regular season schedule. The top two teams they beat each were 8-6, but they beat the top teams in the post season to get there including the mighty Steelers. Yes the Redskins were a slight favorite probably because of the ease of which they dispatched the defending champion Cowboys who had destroyed the Dolphins in the previous SB. But the Dolphins were clearly the best team when it was all said and done.

  • well of course. I'm not disputing the fact that they were the best team that year but when you throw in all the greatest teams of all time, yes they of course fall in their somewhere but most people consider them the greatest team of all time. I have a hard time believing that.

  • 32-2 from '72-'73, plus THREE straight

Super Bowl appearances, & a PERFECT

Season...that's pretty impressive. NO other team has EVER accomplished those things in a 3-year span.

  • @dolfangirl1 Don't blame Lombardi's Green Bay Packers of 1965 for not having a Super Bowl available to them. Three NFL titles in a row (65-67). No one else has ever done it. Odds are, in the free agency/salary cap era, no one ever will. But for a one year or two year span, your Dolphins have got everyone else beat.

  • i like being a ghost lol

  • As Bill Parcells has repeatedly said for years...

You are what your record says you are!

  • The 1973 dolphins were better than the '72.If it wasn't for Csonka they would not have been undefeated.Super bowl 8 was the greatest performance by a running back(Csonka) in the history of the Super bowl.

  • little, kutch open the door for csonka to run it ALL over HELPLESS vikings on that rain misty day at rice and than they had a heart and let the vikings score with about 6:02 remaining.

  • Year I was born.........and I am a Jets fan.

  • @phitzc

all I know is we have the 12th pick and a very promissing team, so you can suck it!!!!

  • "With any given sunday any team can beat any other team.. except in 1972". - Mercury Morris

  • Going Undefeated is the most Impressive thing that you can do in Football if not Sports but as far as I'm concerned the 72 Dolphins aren't the best Team in NFL History & I could name 5-10 SB Champions that would probably beat them.

  • @ErikS1975FreeState

I am a Dolphins fan and I agree with that, however every season is different and it still is a great accomplishment, and had the Pats gone undefeated I could name you 29 teams that are better than them! (The 86 Bears are probably one of the strongest fielded teams of all time)

  • I don't know Mike Tomczak & Doug Flutie at QB, I mean I don't think those Guys could Lead the 1978 Steelers to the SB. They would consistently find ways to Lose Games. Plus DC Vince Tobin changing their 46 Defense to a Zone Blitz Scheme & no Pro Bowlers on Offense other then the Great Walter Payton.

  • The Patriots were those losers in the 70's, time changes teams. The Patriots deserved their glory but don't knock the 72 Dolphins. They didn't go undefeated through the season and lose the Super Bowl to the likes of Eli Manning!!!!!

  • shithead

  • The only perfect team ever. They actually won a Super Bowl unlike that queer team from Boston. Dolphins forever.

  • go dolphins

  • Go DOLFans

  • For their era they were the greatest team ever.;

  • Population Perfectville ( 1 )!!! Go Dolphins!!

  • hell yea that 72 team is still the only undefeated team in nfl history

  • It realy MATTERS to you & the hilarious

thing is you have to EAT crow!

    1972 MIAMI DOLPHINS=BEST EVER

  • Dolphins #1 baby..hopefully they will be the second team to do it as well

  • Let's not forget that the 72 dolphins won a bunch of games with there back up quaterback. Lets see the colts or saints or anybody do that. Lokk at yesterday colts put in the 3rd stringer and all hell breaks out, might as well have put papa smurf out.

  • saints 13-2

    colts 14-1

    miami rules

  • The Shula Shuffle baby. Donnie was doing it last night. Still the greatest.

  • The Team Of The Century!!!

  • Congratulations to the 1972 Miami Dolphins - the only undefeated team in the history of the National Football League.

  • We can debate all we want the 1972 miami Dolphins went UNDEFEATED, that is an historic achievement.Forget about strength of schedule THEY WOULD HAVE WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP NO MATTER WHO THEY PLAYED THAT YEAR.

  • And speaking of the Patriots, yes, they overcame great obstacles to win up until the Super Bowl, but a loss to the Giants, a wildcard team, just reinforces the fact that the supposed difficulty of a schedule doesn't really matter.

  • DrTimWhatley, the Saints were undefeated up until their game against the Cowboys, but up until this point eight of their games were against teams that are currently under .500 and three against teams just barely over that mark. Mediocre by their current record, the Redskins and Falcons gave them a run for their money. The Patriots were supposed to be a test and the Cowboys did them in.

Point being, a game can go either way and it's tough to win all games, even if you have an "easy" schedule.

  • Awesome team!! One of the best all time. For my money, Chicago;s team in 85 was pretty incredible at 15-1. Best D all time.

  • @rjst09 yeah and the only loss was to THE MIAMI DOLPHINS!!!!!!! dolphins for life!

  • Go Fins! They still have a shot at playoffs, however slim that is. Fins 72 are the best mandich is pouring the champagne

  • This sounds kind of strange but the 1972 Undefeated Dolphins don't get enough respect as 1 of the best teams in NFL History.
