Hey, I did my theory test for the 2nd time today and yet again I failed. For my first attempt at the test 2 weeks ago, I passed questions with 44/50 marks, but failed hazard perception by a single mark (43/75 - 44 is pass). I was confident that I could get that mark so I booked another, which I had today and again I passed questions but with 46/50 marks this time, but 38/75 on hazard perception. I was on the verge of crying it was so frustrating. I click 3-4 times per hazard so that I can try t
@Darksoul132 Sorry to hear you're having problems passing the hazard perception part of the theory test.
Due to the restrictions in You Tube I'm unable to send you a detailed reply as I'm limited to the number of characters. Therefore can you please email me direct at dts@focusmm.co.uk so I can send you a thorough reply to help you pass your hazard perception test.
@OBS3RVE The format of the Theory Tests are the same but you will find that some of the questions are different. For example in the bike test you will find questions relating to bike maintenance and vice versa.
i don't know whats worth a click. im told if you click too frequently you fail, but does that mean you can't really click for minimal things like road signs and mud on the road, indicating possible horses or tractors? the CD doesn't make it clear
I took my thoery test today, i got 47/50 on the first part, and failed the hazard perception which i was pissed off with cos ive put a lot of time in revisin, plus wasted 31.00 pounds, im tryin to figure out what i did wrong, i might have clicked to much in 1 video....
got 50 out of 50 in theory but failed in hazard perception , i only managed to get 35 out of 75. Disqualified for 4 clips. To be honest, I dint practise this section at all and i paid the price. GUTTED bitterly.
I like the running commentary as think that's a real help but hate hazard perception as it's crap and nothing like real driving! Are junctions hazards?
Guys, the hazard perception part of the theory test is a money making scheme by the government knowing more people will fail and have to sit the test again. I had to sit this test for the driving instructor test and its 57/75 and not 44/75. i passed it, just, got 59. been driving for many years now and this test is nothing like spotting a hazard while driving. Just treat it like a computer game. play the game until you are good at it. dont try to figure out how it works. just play it till you win
Ok so answer me this, why is the whole thing aimed at spotting hazards quickly but there's such a thing as being too quick ....how does that make sense ? .....im holding back from my normal ability and clicking a little later because i dont want a zero and im afraid of clicking too many times, how can i work on this ....any tips for someone who see's it too quickly and is now not sure when i should click ?
This is a horrible test, you can actually be too good at spotting hazards and click before the scoring window. Then you fail as a reward for your alertness... So don't be minimalistic with your number of clicks.
The thing is, when you get your results there is no indication of what you did wrong so there is no way of knowing if you over or under click.
It's really a game of chance as to whether you pass or fail. I have failed mine twice by 1 point. I am very dissilusioned with the whole test, it's very unrealistic but unfortunately I don't make up the rules.
This is such a contraversial test, I have just failed mine for the second time an hour ago.
My first score was 66 and my second score was 65 (67 is the pass mark), I was a London motorcycle courier for two years and consider my road safety to be pretty good as my life depended on it.
I don't consider an empty junction or an oncoming car on the other side of the road as hazards or a pedestrian in a bus shelter.
I will click like mad on my next test even if a bird flies past.
Wait..so you get full marks at 1:22 to 1:24? Unless you had that circle there I don't think any normal person would suddenly assume it's a potential hazard any more than the cars going by you through the entire video/ people on the pavement..
Going by that standard you may aswell see every person on the side as a hazard, or cars passing by on either side as they could all suddenly get in the way.
i'm sorry i've spent ages practicing HPT and i've come to the conclusion that its bullshit. you have no peripheral vision to help, the video quality is low, thus making distant objects mere blurs until they're close and you can see what they're doing. The actual scoring zone is extremly small meainging you have to be very fast to score even a point. Its just another thing for them to fail us on and thus screw us out of more money. Typical.
@11essexboi11 if the software thinks you are cheating, i.e. clicking constantly, then you will be penalised.
But if you are clicking a reasonable amount of times then you shouldn't lose marks. It's a good idea to try out the software to get a better idea of how this works.
I understand the part where you get 5 points for noticing the hazard, such as the bike coming in front of the car but the red marks where junctions are, should I click then as well? being a potential hazard...
It's not explained well enough for me. Click when you see a hazard and click again when it develops, my understanding of a developing hazard could be different to the developer of the software :/ I found the hazard perception really hard but the questions easy :(
a good part at the end of the video, a highly trained driver should post more hazard perception clips to help new drivers with this section of the test
when you are doing your hazard i have been doing the mok test but the way this shows you the hazards far away can you click far away or do you have to be close even if people are in the other side of the road
I failed the hazard perception part of the LGV theory test, with 16 years driving experience behind me. Subjective and ambiguous are the 2 words I would use to describe it. @mark12810 hi. We have a dedicated learning aid for motorcyclists - check out drivingtestsuccess.co.uk for the Theory Test download for motorcyclists. Good luck!
what if you pass the first part of the theory test but fail the hazard perception test, do you have to re-sit both parts of the exam again or just one?
i passed 69/100 just lol if you want to pass 1st time try to use all the clips and review low marks if you score 2s and 1s more than 5,4,3 you will fail the test
If you react too early you miss the boat!! - best to click a few more times but not too many... I just passed 50/50 on Multiple choice and 49/75 on Hazard percetion
I did over do the clicking in one clip and got a zero so do be careful, I still do not think the Hazard Percetion test is very good... it's not "real" enough and can cause experienced drivers trouble!
@wow9024 if your reaction is earlier than the window, it's likely your score won't be recorded. The best thing to do is click more than once when the hazard is visible to make sure you get a score.
see the haz early and click pause click pause click pause ... then you have a good chance of getting marks from 5 to 4 , just when you do you first click if the hazard comes to nothing stop clicking
Hey Ive got mine tomorrow! and best of luck to you im sure you'll be fine, try and relax whilst doing your revising and allow 30minute break between each revising time, just makesure you fit in as much reading and compuer time as you can and get members of your family to ask you a few random questions and observe road signs more as a passenger in another persons car and ask your instructer for some good tips too :) all the best !
@ausmarkus1234 i passed yesterday mate, basically best piece of advice is to just not be nervous, they make it sound such a big deal and when you get to your centre tot ake it ,its daunting, but you ddont talkt to anyone or anything just get there do the test and done. i was nervous too. if youve practiced and your hitting 43 etc you should pass, hazard perception was doddle and im a retard lol.
My instructor just said to me the earlier you see the developing hazard just click and you will get the highest mark depending on how early you spotted it. But people are saying you have to click several times on one hazard? Can someone clear this up because i thought if you click too much they deduct points?
It's best to click 2 or 3(max) times in a clip, the earlier you see the hazard the more points you receive, from 1 to 5. And in one clip, there will definetly be 2 hazards, so two seperate clicks will be required.
not really as a clip could have various types of potential hazards giving this advise could mislead people into thinking that once they have clicked three times that they shouldnt click again.
during the test you can click any amount of times its just if you intend clicking in a particlar pattern that could initially get you points like a test with 4 questions labelled a,b,c,d and you always picking d. you are certain to get correct answers without actually knowing what youve done thats why.
Anyone got any advice on how to pass it. I clicked 5 times roughly on each one. Yet on 2 clips I got zero. It's annoying how you dont find out wot u di
click as many times as you deem suitable but try not to get into a a habit of clicking every so often for the sake of it, learn how the hazard perception works and then you will quickly identify what hazards you need to click for, such as people waiting to cross the road, or traffic that has intentions of turning etc... just do heeps of practise, i would buy the high way code book which is £2.50 and get AA theory test book from whsmith 6.99 plus dvd and youll be laughing after a while
taking my theory 21st september im confident about this part of the test because when i was practising online i got them all haha..but i gotta do more work on the questions part lol
I've failed my theory twice now, BOTH on the Hazar Preception. :S only by 2 points the first time. It seems that trying to actually click on what you think is THE hazard will fail you, and its best to just click on ANYTHING that looks remotely like a hazard, so long as you don't click too much. I would justify this by saying, the only person that passed recently, out of about 5 of us was the gormless one of the lot.
One time my mom had a grandmal seizure while driving me to school in morining rush hour traffic. I was the only other person in the car, so I took the wheel. That was interesting, considering I haven't taken driver's ed or training, have no permit, etc.
I'm taking my theory in a week and I'm not looking fwd to this part of the test. My scores on practice videos tends to vary a lot (lowest score 35%, highest so far, 76%). I have to say, I think its a pretty pointless part of the test. Hazard awareness is an integral part of the practical test anyway. Why do we need to prove it in a simulation that tries to judge you quantifiably on something which is largely UN-quantifiable?!
i already have a driving licence of the other country since 2002!! and i can confirm the opinion that the test is rediculicious, as well as I have 5 years driving experience in Russia so I have to pass all the tests again to add British one. 3 times failed the hazard perseption. the test has one effect- putting off getting REAL driving skills!! what a waste.
I just failed my theory because of this ridiculous part of the test. I got 49/50 on the questions regarding the highway code. I just didn't know what exactly they wanted me to do on the hazard perception test. What a pain in the ass.
no thats the type of things you should be putting your sttention to incase of a developing hazard, i just failed mine last week because i wasnt clicking enough it seems, dont be afraid to click 5 or so times in one clip! 50/50 on theory and 34/75 on this :( got it again this thursday
Yeah that's why I think this test it useless, someone who can get full marks on the theory should not be failing. It's this stupid test >:[
But my driing instructor said the same as you, to click a lot. My first theory is in a week and this is the one thing I'm dreading. Thanks for the info though, and good luck next time.
do you not loose points for clicking too much though and is there an amount of time you are given to click? i'm just curious because i start learning soon
my driving instructor told me you have to click when you see a hazard, click again when you are at the hazard and again when you have left it. The dvd only seems to be one click though? what is it like it the test?
i just took mine last week and clicked once on 12 out of the 14 clips, and clicked twice on the other 2, i could clearly see all the hazards with no problem at all but still only scored 34/75, taking it again on thursday, gona click a lot more this time, i'l let you know how i do :)
passed it yesterday, seems like clicking a lot more does work, was clicking at pretty much everything i seen which could turn into a hazard lol, but still only just passed it, 46/75
I got 68/75 on the test success CD but the real thing only 43 on the real thing...some of my clips got cancelled on the real thing but they dont on the CD... Wtf...
I failed because my hazard perception was bad in my test. An ambulance was coming in the middle of the road with flashing light, i could see it but because i wasn't thinking i forgot how quick they come thus pulling up too late.
i did this on wednesday. you get a much better workout of your observation, anticipation and reaction on the road whilst doing your lessons than a computer screen could ever give you. people have been driving safely without it for years. the cynic in me says they have made it deliberately harder and are now jacking up the price to take a theory test, to make more money. i did pass though so can't complain
yeah i hear its tough across europe too , i passed my test years ago in a manual car with no power steering or the safty protections they have to day and being honest if i had to do my test now i know id fail due to my habits and also this hazard test all i see is pixels in the distance id need a 32 inch widescreen to see these things properly and a sence of direction heh
yeah i understand that but dont people already do that when riding a bike and obviously during driving lessons and is often a automatic repsonse which you dont get when its artificially put on a computer screen it is scary that it doesn't come naturally to all people but is the dsa's fault for showing them how to brake ,clutch etc they should be put in a automatic or kept off the road completely
all the roadsigns and people that could just jump out are not real observations it seems heh yet in the real world it will be a drunk or some joyrider colliding into you from the side and you wont know what hit you making this completely useless
its silly because its hazzards that could happen from the perspective of 1 individual and we all have to guess what this crazy person has thought of im sure many can think up loads of hazards that could happen that hasnt been stated, the videos should demonstrate real crashes not what ifs because theres alot of what ifs how many trees could fall on the car? if you think of everything you wouldnt want to drive heh
I hear what you're saying, and you obviously can't account for out of the ordinary circumstances likeyou mention. In those cases it would be down to luck and your reaction times.
The Hazard Perception test trains you on everyday hazards that we all face on a regular basis. The DSA brought in the test to encourage learners to look further ahead on the road, scanning for anticipate potential dangers before they happen.
[repost due to typo!] As a learner it's vital that you extend your vision in this way. If you prepare instead of being reactive and look further down the road you will have more chance of avoiding a collision. This may sound like common sense but it doesn't come naturally to all learners.
I just had my theory and passed the theory by 47/50 but I failed the hazard perception by 1 mark. So annoyed! They don't even tell you what you did wrong!!!
It's the hardest part of the test so there's no shame in failing it.

i passed my frist 49/50 but failed in the second one 26/75 , the questions wereso easy butthe clips were a bit tricky but going to reviseand take it next month
you get 14 clips, each one minute, there is one hazard in 13 clips and 2 hazards in 1 (14 altogether). you can get from 0-5 points in each of the 13 clips with one hazard, and you can score double (0-10) in the clip with 2 hazards.
i passed mine today,, 46/50 and 60/75 in hazard precption! =) goodluck
if you see a potential hazard DONT CLICK IT , wait and see if it going to DEVELOP into a actual hazard. When it does, then you have to click straight away in order to score the maximum marks.
Dont forget to look out for other potential hazards instead of keeping you're eye on one, the ones that WILL turn into hazards are quite obvious.
remember everything? lol there's no chance i remembered everything.
but all i did was before a week left, i read through all the questions, answering 1 by 1 checking the answers as i go along. the questions are easy, hazard perception is a bit of a piss take but i passed by 1 mark so what can i say except LOL + good luck, just book it and study hard before a week, do practice mock theory exams online.
ive got my practical in 8 weeks, im more scared of this than theory. good luck!
they say you need at least 4 hours of study time. but if you get the pc cd and the hazard perception dvd you can use it as much as you want i used the offical dsa complete test kit and i passed.
I've got mine tomorrow. In this clip there are quite a few hazards - so if I were to click on these hazards, is it ok or too many clicks? i.e. at the very start when you see the cyclist, then when the bus stops and you can see a red car with hazard lights on and a man approaching it, when the bus moves off and the cyclist comes around the red car in front of you and when the bus ahead, on the left lane, gives the signal to come into the right one?
I also have mine tomorrow lol, I'm more worried about this test than the theory test cause people have said that they saw the hazards and clicked but it was too early, you have to wait till your closer :o\
Unlucky mate, got mine in March, cant figure out the hazard perception, if you should only click once, and if you click too many times you fail or something, bit confused atm
yeah, its not that hard just click when you see a hazard and click again if it gets alot worse! in the test the hazords are blatant! just make sure you lison to the intro on the pc if you still dont under stand! just make sure you get a dvd and revise the questions! good luk
beadydani: NO, NO, NO!!!! Not true at all. You have to click more than once. You will only score zero if you click randomly.
The reason that you should click twice or thrice during the 'developing hazard' is because you could have made the first click just before the 'scoring window' opens, hence you would get 0 points. However, if you click again, it would be registered as the 'window' has just opened, hence you could get 5 points.
I passed on my 4th attempt because of the hazard perception. The only advice I can give is that the 'developing' hazard almost always has tell-tale clues (e.g. a cyclist looking backwards, fire engine's lights flashing from the corner of the screen). If you see those clues, wait a second or two before clicking. If you click straightaway, you won't get any points, because the window won't have opened... it is possible to have spotted the hazard TOO EARLY - which is what I was doing. Good luck!
i jus failed my test 2day, i got 50/50 but failed the hazard perception bit, which i jus cnt seem to do! i thnk your soo right about clicking too early, your advice is reallly useful, thnx
SarahxHaych: Bad luck about the test result. The advice that I would give you is to try to find official DSA training clips on youtube - just try to react a split second (no longer than that) later than you did in the test today. See how that goes.
I got 49/50 on the questions and 32/75 on the hazard perception. I don't understand why I did so badly when I've passed all the recent tests I've done on my CD at home
Hey, I did my theory test for the 2nd time today and yet again I failed. For my first attempt at the test 2 weeks ago, I passed questions with 44/50 marks, but failed hazard perception by a single mark (43/75 - 44 is pass). @DrivingTestSuccess but don't click too many times as the computer may perceive this as cheating

Very sad these amateur cyclists give us the experienced cyclists a bad name!
Why wait until the VERY VERY LAST SECOND to merge into the flow? At that kind of slow speed?
I would have been in-flow with the cars 2 blocks before that truck!

what percentage of the hazard perception test do you have to get to pass the hazard perception???
CharlieBee100 1 year ago
see the haz early and click pause click pause click pause ... then you have a good chance of getting marks from 5 to 4 , just when you do you first click if the hazard comes to nothing stop clicking

I passed my theory today!
I found by far the best way to practice/learn is to use a good CD ROM software on the computer.
I first started studying using books but it just isn't the same.
I used the "Driving Test Success" PC software which I bought from Amazon I passed first time.

hey ive got my theory and hazard test in 12 days
does anyone have any tips that will really help me
cos im really nervous
thanks (:
ausmarkus1234 2 years ago
Hey Ive got mine tomorrow! and best of luck to you im sure you'll be fine, try and relax whilst doing your revising and allow 30minute break between each revising time, just makesure you fit in as much reading and compuer time as you can and get members of your family to ask you a few random questions and observe road signs more as a passenger in another persons car and ask your instructer for some good tips too :) all the best !
PinkLilliesx 2 years ago
@ausmarkus1234 i passed yesterday mate, basically best piece of advice is to just not be nervous, they make it sound such a big deal and when you get to your centre tot ake it ,its daunting, but you ddont talkt to anyone or anything just get there do the test and done. i was nervous too. if youve practiced and your hitting 43 etc you should pass, hazard perception was doddle and im a retard lol.

Anyone know the answer to this?
My instructor just said to me the earlier you see the developing hazard just click and you will get the highest mark depending on how early you spotted it. But people are saying you have to click several times on one hazard? Can someone clear this up because i thought if you click too much they deduct points?
bailiff199 2 years ago
You only need 2 click once when you see the developing hazard.
PCgame4life 2 years ago
It's best to click 2 or 3(max) times in a clip, the earlier you see the hazard the more points you receive, from 1 to 5. And in one clip, there will definetly be 2 hazards, so two seperate clicks will be required.
wazztie16 2 years ago
not really as a clip could have various types of potential hazards giving this advise could mislead people into thinking that once they have clicked three times that they shouldnt click again.
1mickeygreeneyes 2 years ago
during the test you can click any amount of times its just if you intend clicking in a particlar pattern that could initially get you points like a test with 4 questions labelled a,b,c,d and you always picking d. you are certain to get correct answers without actually knowing what youve done thats why.
1mickeygreeneyes 2 years ago
Anyone got any advice on how to pass it. I clicked 5 times roughly on each one. Yet on 2 clips I got zero. It's annoying how you dont find out wot u di
xbecxxx 2 years ago
click as many times as you deem suitable but try not to get into a a habit of clicking every so often for the sake of it, learn how the hazard perception works and then you will quickly identify what hazards you need to click for, such as people waiting to cross the road, or traffic that has intentions of turning etc... just do heeps of practise, i would buy the high way code book which is £2.50 and get AA theory test book from whsmith 6.99 plus dvd and youll be laughing after a while
1mickeygreeneyes 2 years ago
taking my theory 21st september im confident about this part of the test because when i was practising online i got them all haha..but i gotta do more work on the questions part lol

ashayer92 2 years ago
I've failed my theory twice now, BOTH on the Hazar Preception. :S only by 2 points the first time. It seems that trying to actually click on what you think is THE hazard will fail you, and its best to just click on ANYTHING that looks remotely like a hazard, so long as you don't click too much. I would justify this by saying, the only person that passed recently, out of about 5 of us was the gormless one of the lot.
ElliotTM92 2 years ago
One time my mom had a grandmal seizure while driving me to school in morining rush hour traffic. I was the only other person in the car, so I took the wheel. That was interesting, considering I haven't taken driver's ed or training, have no permit, etc.
xTommyGirlx 2 years ago
id laugh if you forgot to add the fact you crashed the car. That would be funny. Hope she recovered
MartyHITD 2 years ago
just click like 3 times per hazard in 3 second intervals and ur sorted!
bryancrook1991 2 years ago
I'm taking my theory in a week and I'm not looking fwd to this part of the test. My scores on practice videos tends to vary a lot (lowest score 35%, highest so far, 76%). I have to say, I think its a pretty pointless part of the test. Hazard awareness is an integral part of the practical test anyway. Why do we need to prove it in a simulation that tries to judge you quantifiably on something which is largely UN-quantifiable?!
Huttah123 2 years ago
i did everything it said and still only got 56. how so?
relyanddefy 2 years ago
i already have a driving licence of the other country since 2002!! and i can confirm the opinion that the test is rediculicious, as well as I have 5 years driving experience in Russia so I have to pass all the tests again to add British one. 3 times failed the hazard perseption. the test has one effect- putting off getting REAL driving skills!! what a waste.
softesweet 2 years ago
I just failed my theory because of this ridiculous part of the test. I got 49/50 on the questions regarding the highway code. I just didn't know what exactly they wanted me to do on the hazard perception test. What a pain in the ass.

Should I be clicking on every one of those red circles that pop up?
2:45
AztekPB123 2 years ago
no thats the type of things you should be putting your sttention to incase of a developing hazard, i just failed mine last week because i wasnt clicking enough it seems, dont be afraid to click 5 or so times in one clip! 50/50 on theory and 34/75 on this :( got it again this thursday
holcroft4 2 years ago
Yeah that's why I think this test it useless, someone who can get full marks on the theory should not be failing. It's this stupid test >:[
But my driing instructor said the same as you, to click a lot. My first theory is in a week and this is the one thing I'm dreading. Thanks for the info though, and good luck next time.
AztekPB123 2 years ago
do you not loose points for clicking too much though and is there an amount of time you are given to click? i'm just curious because i start learning soon
nickluvzr1 2 years ago
my driving instructor told me you have to click when you see a hazard, click again when you are at the hazard and again when you have left it. The dvd only seems to be one click though? what is it like it the test?
joshy56 2 years ago
i just took mine last week and clicked once on 12 out of the 14 clips, and clicked twice on the other 2, i could clearly see all the hazards with no problem at all but still only scored 34/75, taking it again on thursday, gona click a lot more this time, i'l let you know how i do :)

thanks mate =) yer me me know how you do, good luck!

I got 68/75 on the test success CD but the real thing only 43 on the real thing...some of my clips got cancelled on the real thing but they dont on the CD... Wtf...

I failed because my hazard perception was bad in my test. An ambulance was coming in the middle of the road with flashing light, i could see it but because i wasn't thinking i forgot how quick they come thus pulling up too late.
acidparanoia 2 years ago
i did this on wednesday. you get a much better workout of your observation, anticipation and reaction on the road whilst doing your lessons than a computer screen could ever give you. people have been driving safely without it for years. the cynic in me says they have made it deliberately harder and are now jacking up the price to take a theory test, to make more money. i did pass though so can't complain
ciba12 2 years ago
These videos have no real width, so you have no peripheral vision which I find really off-putting
rnbmeister 2 years ago 4
way way harder in australia, try and get you australian licence these days theres an 80% fail rate because of then new laws!
123emeraldwaters321 2 years ago
yeah i hear its tough across europe too , i passed my test years ago in a manual car with no power steering or the safty protections they have to day and being honest if i had to do my test now i know id fail due to my habits and also this hazard test all i see is pixels in the distance id need a 32 inch widescreen to see these things properly and a sence of direction heh
buzzjunked 2 years ago
yeah i understand that but dont people already do that when riding a bike and obviously during driving lessons and is often a automatic repsonse which you dont get when its artificially put on a computer screen it is scary that it doesn't come naturally to all people but is the dsa's fault for showing them how to brake ,clutch etc they should be put in a automatic or kept off the road completely
buzzjunked 2 years ago
all the roadsigns and people that could just jump out are not real observations it seems heh yet in the real world it will be a drunk or some joyrider colliding into you from the side and you wont know what hit you making this completely useless
buzzjunked 2 years ago
its silly because its hazzards that could happen from the perspective of 1 individual and we all have to guess what this crazy person has thought of im sure many can think up loads of hazards that could happen that hasnt been stated, the videos should demonstrate real crashes not what ifs because theres alot of what ifs how many trees could fall on the car? if you think of everything you wouldnt want to drive heh
buzzjunked 2 years ago 2
i agree, it really is pointless. i swear on your practical test, the examiner checks for your awareness anyway.
kuvailondra 2 years ago
I hear what you're saying, and you obviously can't account for out of the ordinary circumstances likeyou mention. In those cases it would be down to luck and your reaction times.
DrivingTestSuccess 2 years ago
The Hazard Perception test trains you on everyday hazards that we all face on a regular basis. The DSA brought in the test to encourage learners to look further ahead on the road, scanning for anticipate potential dangers before they happen.
DrivingTestSuccess 2 years ago
[repost due to typo!] As a learner it's vital that you extend your vision in this way. If you prepare instead of being reactive and look further down the road you will have more chance of avoiding a collision. This may sound like common sense but it doesn't come naturally to all learners.
DrivingTestSuccess 2 years ago
I just had my theory and passed the theory by 47/50 but I failed the hazard perception by 1 mark. So annoyed! They don't even tell you what you did wrong!!!

It's the hardest part of the test so there's no shame in failing it.

can you explain this to me?
when do you click and hoe much, they say theres 1 or 2 harards in every clip but you get marked on 75!!!!
and the dvd example clicked when he saw some guy on the other side of the road making no danger whatso ever?
i dont know when to click lol help
jimbosudbury 2 years ago
you get 14 clips, each one minute, there is one hazard in 13 clips and 2 hazards in 1 (14 altogether). you can get from 0-5 points in each of the 13 clips with one hazard, and you can score double (0-10) in the clip with 2 hazards.
i passed mine today,, 46/50 and 60/75 in hazard precption! =) goodluck

soldjaof786 2 years ago
when should you click though? Wehn you see a potential hazard? or when it forces you to change speed/direction?
I found in mock version i was clicking too early and scoring zero :o/
spikypete 2 years ago
if you see a potential hazard DONT CLICK IT , wait and see if it going to DEVELOP into a actual hazard. When it does, then you have to click straight away in order to score the maximum marks.
Dont forget to look out for other potential hazards instead of keeping you're eye on one, the ones that WILL turn into hazards are quite obvious.

KVC1989KB 2 years ago
remember everything? lol there's no chance i remembered everything.
but all i did was before a week left, i read through all the questions, answering 1 by 1 checking the answers as i go along. the questions are easy, hazard perception is a bit of a piss take but i passed by 1 mark so what can i say except LOL + good luck, just book it and study hard before a week, do practice mock theory exams online.
ive got my practical in 8 weeks, im more scared of this than theory. good luck!

I just thought I would post and say, ....I PASSED!!! Yay!!! :oD
Jay25885 3 years ago
I've got mine tomorrow. In this clip there are quite a few hazards - so if I were to click on these hazards, is it ok or too many clicks? i.e. at the very start when you see the cyclist, then when the bus stops and you can see a red car with hazard lights on and a man approaching it, when the bus moves off and the cyclist comes around the red car in front of you and when the bus ahead, on the left lane, gives the signal to come into the right one?
demented01 3 years ago
I also have mine tomorrow lol, I'm more worried about this test than the theory test cause people have said that they saw the hazards and clicked but it was too early, you have to wait till your closer :o\

yeah, its not that hard just click when you see a hazard and click again if it gets alot worse! in the test the hazords are blatant! just make sure you lison to the intro on the pc if you still dont under stand! just make sure you get a dvd and revise the questions! good luk

i have my test on tuesday, when i see a hazard do i click the mouse once or multiple times
dexman18 3 years ago
U click just once, multiple clicks will get u no marks, they will think ur just guessing.
beadydani 3 years ago
beadydani: NO, NO, NO!!!! Not true at all. You have to click more than once. You will only score zero if you click randomly.
The reason that you should click twice or thrice during the 'developing hazard' is because you could have made the first click just before the 'scoring window' opens, hence you would get 0 points. However, if you click again, it would be registered as the 'window' has just opened, hence you could get 5 points.

nor3ain3 3 years ago
I would but i actually dont know how to do it either! I just dont get it :S
lisa458 3 years ago
I passed on my 4th attempt because of the hazard perception. The only advice I can give is that the 'developing' hazard almost always has tell-tale clues (e.g. a cyclist looking backwards, fire engine's lights flashing from the corner of the screen). If you see those clues, wait a second or two before clicking. If you click straightaway, you won't get any points, because the window won't have opened... it is possible to have spotted the hazard TOO EARLY - which is what I was doing. Good luck!
udinhalncity 3 years ago
thanx for help . i passed it today :) 50/50 & 54/75

SarahxHaych 3 years ago
SarahxHaych: Bad luck about the test result. The advice that I would give you is to try to find official DSA training clips on youtube - just try to react a split second (no longer than that) later than you did in the test today. See how that goes.
