  • yep the bluetones captured perfectly the uncertainty of the 1990's the internet was new..new possibilities opening up..then finding that the things that sucked in real life..sucked in the virtual! ..the Rickenbacker guitar takes me back to those opaque days of the mid 90's..how terribly inadequate today's times have become..

  • thegoodteacher(dot)com

  • Also has one of Adam Devlin's best guitar solos

  • aWESOME bAND !!

  • This song and album is perhaps one of my favourite albums ever recorded, not one song is poor. Just brilliant

  • skin as pale as alabaster...

  • The Bluetones, the thinking mans britpop band, One of the best albums of the 90s and this was one of the best tracks.

  • like a lot of memories you only remember the good bits but the tonesare like a good wine they get better with age or is that us 90s lot ?

  • Brilliant song, brilliant album.

  • 5:20 - 5:24: Does anyone hear a cello here? It's not credited in the liner notes. Hmm..

  • @vitalogy On either my copy of the album or the tab book there is indeed a cello credited for this song.

  • one of the best albums ever and the bluetones should've made it bigger.

  • Still so good to listen to after all this time... love love this song :)

  • i agree , i love them even if i am abit older then when i first liked them , they are still a great listen to

  • what a decade. I was only a kid as well. but I knew big things were happening.

  • I know we must sound to the teenage generation today the way our redundant parents did- BUT WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE AWESOME MUSIC OF OUR TIME!!!!!

  • True, but I'm 15 and Love music from my parent's era, like this! :D

  • Anybody who doesn't like The Bluetones is probably not worth knowing.

  • I second that notion.

  • Funny how many people tell stories of break ups when referring to this album. Just split up with my girlfriend yesterday and funnily enough this is the one album that helps balance out all the messed up emotions I'm going through. Criminally underrated, both as an album and a band in general. Quality.

  • @amsterdambob Strangely enough my ex-missus DESPISED this album?

  • @madcyril77

Only goes to show that The Courteeners song "An Ex is an Ex for a Reason" has a deeper meaning, hahaha!!!

I hope you are better off without the ex-mrs and still enjoy this album!

    :)

  • when this album came out, i was involved in a very intense relationship with a girl in nyc. one night we had a huge argument and i left in a huff. i went home and put this cd on repeat and listened to it over and over until i fell asleep. when i awoke the next morning, this song was playing and the lyrics just instantly reminded me of our relationship at the time. unfortunately, we don't see each other much these days (she's married) but this song will always remind of that time in my life...

  • SNAP.....other way round for me caught up in a messy marriage and fell for a drop dead girl but couldn't do the dirty....thanks to whoever put this on...made me remeber some good and shit stuff but I'll always remember green surrey sun kissed fields when I hear this!

  • One very underestimated band. They should have been big like Oasis and the like. Man, I was an angry young man ad then there was this girl and then it went wrong and I found I was human and then I heard this song in a bar in Berlin in 1997.

And then I wasn't so angry anymore.

    lol :)

  • This was the best song on the first gig I ever went to. Must be 1995 or 96.

  • Been listening to my teenager years music collection Awesome

I got this when it came out ...so nice

    oeace

  • ma-gic

  • This band remind me of the best time in my life, I don't think there's one track of theirs I dislike.

  • This song reminds me of a very intense young man, once upon a time. I gave Mark a bunch of flowers once for writing this one song...

  • i know havn't heard it for nih on a decade but havn't forgot a bloody word.excellent.Invokes memories like a familiar smell.

  • Happy memories flood back, quality

  • are these lads still making music? that was a quality debut album went a bit down hill after that though.

  • tunage nice one

  • thanks for this, this song popped into my head today after a decade of not hearing it, quality tune!
