Thanks for uploading this, this man has changed my whole outlook on life and this planet,he showed me the errors of my own stubborn ignorance.Thank God
The first part with the Kea bird was filmed in New Zealand - my home country. Gerald's books fascinated me with his wild animal adventures - especially the african ones!
I cant wait my daughter to grow up a bit i could read his The Talikg Parcel to her :) Realy masterpiece! Do you know if there is a cartoon or something?
Nice to find this video!! Im from Argentina, Durrell came here and wrote a great book "Tierra de Murmullos" (do not know the original tittle in English, though)... I really liked when I read it!
@0Gerry As long as there's a single person who's reading his book, paying homage to his work, or following his steps.... he'll live forever!
His books and work made me to study biology and nature conservation. And I believe, that our own welfare will be preserved if we preserve the diversity of nature. So, long live Mr. Durrell !
I'm looking for the video or song even, the intro to the tv series "The Stationary Ark". Has anyone seen it online? the one with the animals going into the ark, lightening, rain and music. Been looking for it forever :(
Thank you SO MUCH, it's amazing to see and hear an author I have LOVED so much since I was a teenager, thank you very much for putting this on Youtube.
i agree wholehearteldy ebilafan i LOVE him and have nearly all his books x x x xmy gosh i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee him hes truly AMAZING in the work he did and the lasting legacy that is durrell zoo
wow, I love him too! I wrote him a letter when I was a teenager back in 95, but Lee Durrel (his wife) told me he had passed away the same year, from an unsuccessful liver transplant. I was devastated... I'm a huge fan; I've read all his books.
I thank you so much for uploading this! He is one of my favourite writers, but I never had a chance to see the films or documentaries he made, so this was the first time I heard his voice!
He was (and through his books still is) someone truly worth following!
Gerald Durrell is my favourite writer. He was a very interesting, atractive and intelligent person. He always explains the nature miracles using simple words and ilustrations. I admire his brilliant books.
Gerald Durrell is my role model. I THINK HE IS THE GREATEST MAN WHO EVER LIVED!!!

I am glad you liked it) BBC actually made very interesting documentary about Durrel's life, you should try to find it.
I love his books - and admire everything he did for saving animals.
