This review is ridiculous. The Corvette ZR1 is an overpriced piece of plastic that can't corner worth crap. Let me see; in 2008 you had, for production cars that could beat the Corvette, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Ariel Atom, Ford GT, Pagani Zonda, Mercedes SLR McLarin, Lamborghini Murcielago, Gumpert Apollo, etc.
These guys at Edmonds are horrible drivers. This is not the first review that I have seen where they do not have accurate 0-60 times or horsepower readings.
GTR has no soul, Corvette does! If you live in America, buy an American icon, and not some expensive, fancy Japanese tuner! Not saying the GTR sucks, but Corvette still has the long-lived reputation and performance that has made and preserved it's CORVETTE name for many decades! And everybody knows that!
Sure the corvette's stats are better than the gtrs, but when it comes to nurburgring lap times, regular people in the GTR would smoke those in the ZR1. You'll have to be pulled out of the tire wall in a cloud of smoke in the corvette, but sure you will have had fun.

@mdtvification It is a fair comparison they are both dead stock from the factory cars. If you put the money in to the GT-R to push that much power, it would only be fair to put the same amount in the ZR-1. Fair is stock against stock. And that is what this video showed.

Stock Means from the factory i get that, but when someone gets creamed and makes a new car just because of it, thats hardly a fair race. I was about to call bullshit until I checked recent Nurburgring times, apparently the 2012 ZR1 is 7 seconds better than the GTR. In MY opinion, the Nurburgring determines the better car. It's kind of why it exists.
@SlevinCCX the zr1 was 7:19 with the race tires, and the GTR was a 7:24 on semi-wet conditions thats a 5 second difference but the zr1 had a dry lap time and the gtr had a semi-wet lap time... id like to see them go on the same day, stock and see what happens

It's funny how everyone flames each other in the comments. ZR1 is a nice car, and puts down mad power, but the GT-R is a much better put together car. It's funny that Edmunds even pits these cars together like it's an even match. A big ass 6.2L V8 vs a 3.8L V6. If anything, it's impressive that the GT-R is close behind in all its track numbers even though it's 100+ HP less than the ZR1.
No doubt a ZR1 is better on the track...but they said they tested them on the street and the track; then proceeded to show nothing but track footage. The GTR is much better than a ZR1 as far as docile street driving-no contest...yet no mention of that in this "unbiased" reporting.

the gtr loses to the zr1 in this comparison with a 100whp difference, not by much but losing is losing. if you look purely at the cars straight off the lot then the zr1 is a better car. considering the price difference of 90k base vs 116k base, you will get a faster car out of the gtr with the amount a zr1 is going for.
Guys lets be honest here. Both cars are amazing vehicles, but lets also be real here, any legitimate car enthusiast will tell you it's all about driving these vehicles(key word driving here). The GTR is packed with so much electronic crap that you are basically driving a computer. Anyone remember the good old days when you could feel the engine? I have been fortunate enough to experience the GT-R (I didn't exactly race it, but I experienced the feel, and response of the car) but I can tell you that first of all you can turn off a lot of the electronics assists and 2nd of all, even with all the electronic assists it feels very natural and it doesn't take rocket science to figure out how to get in the car and just drive

This review is ridiculous. The Corvette ZR1 is an overpriced piece of plastic that can't corner worth crap. Let me see; in 2008 you had, for production cars that could beat the Corvette, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Ariel Atom, Ford GT, Pagani Zonda, Mercedes SLR McLarin, Lamborghini Murcielago, Gumpert Apollo, etc.
These guys at Edmonds are horrible drivers. This is not the first review that I have seen where they do not have accurate 0-60 times or horsepower readings.

How much do you trust this yankee-made video? A video where somehow the GTR is three quarters of a second (that's 25%!) slower to 60 than the time that Nissan got from it. It's funny how everyone flames each other in the comments. ZR1 is a nice car, and puts down mad power, but the GT-R is a much better put together car. It's funny that Edmunds even pits these cars together like it's an even match. A big ass 6.2L V8 vs a 3.8L V6. If anything, it's impressive that the GT-R is close behind in all its track numbers even though it's 100+ HP less than the ZR1.

No doubt a ZR1 is better on the track...but they said they tested them on the street and the track; then proceeded to show nothing but track footage. The GTR is much better than a ZR1 as far as docile street driving-no contest...yet no mention of that in this "unbiased" reporting.

the gtr loses to the zr1 in this comparison with a 100whp difference, not by much but losing is losing. if you look purely at the cars straight off the lot then the zr1 is a better car. considering the price difference of 90k base vs 116k base, you will get a faster car out of the gtr with the amount a zr1 is going for.

Guys lets be honest here. Both cars are amazing vehicles, but lets also be real here, any legitimate car enthusiast will tell you it's all about driving these vehicles(key word driving here). The GTR is packed with so much electronic crap that you are basically driving a computer. Anyone remember the good old days when you could feel the engine? Just you, the engine, a gas pedal, and a brake pedal in a body. The GTR caters to a younger generation of drivers and they will always like the GTR more

I have been fortunate enough to experience the GT-R (I didn't exactly race it, but I experienced the feel, and response of the car) but I can tell you that first of all you can turn off a lot of the electronics assists and 2nd of all, even with all the electronic assists it feels very natural and it doesn't take rocket science to figure out how to get in the car and just drive
