  • Marines.... They don't die there reassigned to guard the gates of heaven.

  • @lazyboi0111 Amen.

  • @bigbirdgrappler60 Oh believe me, they still cuss and throw as many insults as they can at you. That rumor is a joke.

  • This was a neat movie. This speech was very moving. It reaaly told what being a Marine was all about. It was just a shame whty happened to the guy that flipped out after being given the blanket party because he screwed so much and got everyone else in trouble.

  • Semper Fi.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • PICK YOUR ####### ARMS UP OR YOU'RE NOT MARCHING!!!

  • speaking of hartman. they should allow di's to still swear at their recuits. i heard a bull shit rumor that they were not aloud to swear or yell anymore

  • @ALLERTORLOVER69 they can yell just not degrade or cuss

  • Cowboys "pisscutter" is way to small. He's got a survey it and get the proper sized cover on his gourd and wear it properly. I'm surprised Gunny Hartman didn't catch that bullshit and especially with a squad leader.

  • @mrchickenwow It's a guide-on.

    Lol.

  • @mrchickenwow. He isnt old, he is a marine veterane.

  • @mrchickenwow Cool...

  • @Darthbane1999 He isnt old, he is a marine veteran

  • @Darthbane1999 dick

  • Sempir Fi

  • @Jon79813 Please sir, Its Semper Fi

  • @SPECTREFIVE proves you're smart :)

  • why is it inappropriate for them to wear their covers indoors and the DI'S do?

  • @thecolaratlady The DI's have a "Duty Belt" on the # 1 hat and # 2 hat usually wear a green web belt with an NCO or Staff NCO buckle and the Senior DI wears a "gloss back" duty belt where as in a regular duty staus he would just wear a Kaki web belt anyhoo.. they are considered as being "under arms" and Marines can wear their "cover" (hat) indoors when armed it also it is an "instructional envioment" as in they are also permitted to wear a cover in a gymnasium or training classroom

  • @SOUTHPAW731 Ok thank you for answering my question. I appreciate it

  • @thecolaratlady I'm sorry,,but 1 more question..what does under arms mean?

  • @SOUTHPAW731 Very true but only 1 mistake in this movie. SDI's in 1967 did not use a Gloss Corfam Duty belt. It was plain black leather at that time. When I joined in 1978 my SDI still had the black leather one and some had the corfam one. When I served as a hat at PI in 1983 to 86 it was all corfam by then. Were you in the Drill field too? Semper Fi brother. I took out my Corfam belt the other day from storage and the Corfam actually crumbled apart! lol.

  • @FitnessFocus1959 the only time i did on the Drill field was the summer i was getting my head handed to me by my SDI and DI's on the 3rd Battalion parade deck on P.I. lol many years ago when they had a "hands on policy" we still spit shined our leather shoes but corfram was available from cash sales /px. yeah the corfram belts diintigrate so do the shoes in time , i was told it is from using windex on them to clean them , over time the chemical drie em out? Semper Fi bro

  • @SOUTHPAW731 Hey brother, where did you serve? Were you a grunt also? I served in all three divisions. Always with a Rifle company except when I was in the Drill Field at PI with 2nd Battalion.

  • @FitnessFocus1959 heh heh me too all 3 Divisions(actually all 4, i did do a small stint in the reserves after 12 years active) started @ Camp L w/ 8th Marines, then 3rd Marines and 1st Brigade (why they called it the 1st brigade i dont know... at the time we were the ONLY brigade lol (with the exception of MEBs that were formed later) we were the "left over bastards" and of course the 1st Mar Div with the 7th Marines which was probably the longest and best tour. I too was an 03 (0311)

  • @SOUTHPAW731 Hey buddy, I remember the 7th Marines being at Mateo for ages. I was just down the road at Horno with 1/1. My first unit after Bootcamp and ITS. Ahh! To be so young again! lol Great to meet you. Please add me as a contact.

  • @SOUTHPAW731 oh btw the one thing about the belt that might have been "the mistake" for movie purposes.. i have read and heard many times that hollywood is not allowed to use/film/display a Marine Corps uniform as exactly as it is worn in real life ..that there has to be a gig a "glitch" collar emblems reversed is one you see alot , missing button , ribbons out of order etc etc

  • @SOUTHPAW731 Interesting and makes sense.

  • i would give up my life in a heart beat for the usmc ill be there in a cuple of years

  • Deadass that was a great speech

  • Marines Don't Die....they just get promoted

  • happy birthday USMC from an ole Leatherneck from Aco 1/5...

    Semper Fi...

  • Happy 236, Devil Dogs. Oo-fuckin-rah!

  • I was hoping to embed this on our Class of '66 website to honor our USMC classmates on November 10th but see you're not allowing that. Boo hoo. Thanks for posting it.

  • @trudyjude66 One thing that you can do is convert this video to a windows movie clip (wmv file) and put that in your presentation.

  • @trudyjude66 Thank you..

  • I remember watching this part and feeling strangely uplifted by this speech.

  • Gotta love that oohra semper fi do or die

  • Semper Fidelis

  • You notice this is probably the only part of the movie where Hartman doesn't swear?

  • @edinscot56789 I concur..
