Look at the piss poor coaching of Michigan's linebackers. They are lining up 3 yards too close to the line of scimmage. You want them to adjust to the direction of the play? They can't because they have to take two steps back just to get around the linemen. This is just absurd. Michigan's defense will be twice as good next year simply because they wont be coached to do stupid shit like this.
I love the MSU shitters on here. MSU sucked last year. Talking shit about Michigan's defense is like talking shit after you just beat a paraplegic swim team in the butterfly. It's just asinine.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Is there a point in this post? U of M has sucked for the past 3 years. Michigan State has beat U of M 3 years in a row. What's your excuse for that dumb ass?
@dkspartan1 What did I say that is so complex? What is so hard to understand? Michigan has fielded its three worst years of football in its entire history and MSU shitters believe that they have accomplished some astounding feat. News flash douche bag, the majority of the teams that play Michigan over those same three years have beaten them. It's just not an accomplishment worth bragging about. Wait until Michigan is a powerhouse again and then you can legitimately make an argument.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM whatever helps you sleep at night, sweetheart. the better team won that day, just like it has three years running. besides, i'll bet you think it's a big deal that michigan hoops beat easily the worst state team in over a decade twice this year. clown.
@GMoney42392 Again... you completely miss the point. See a doctor. There must be a medical condition for the complete inability to comprehend an argument. Michigan = really bad. Michigan State = bad. Michigan State > Michigan. Bad > really bad. Being bad is nothing to brag about.
Michigan basketball = mediocre. Michigan State basketball = bad. Mediocre > bad.... need I go on? You seriously must be the dumbest kid on the planet.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM ...so 11 wins and a big ten co-championship is "bad" now? good to know. thanks for clarifying that. just be sure to remember that next time michigan wins 10.
seriously though: you know your team is up shit's creek when you resort to the "we may suck, but you suck too!" defense. but hey, like i said before, whatever helps you sleep at night, sweetheart.
@GMoney42392 You beat Wisconsin... that's it. Michigan has to play Ohio State - the best team in the Big 10 - every year... so when Michigan gets 11 (or 10) wins, it is usually much more meaningful than your fluke season. Michigan State was an indisputably and unequivocally mediocre team last year. BTW... I wouldn't consider MSU a Big 10 co-champion either. They should be considered the outright B1G champs with OSU being eliminated and MSU > Wisconsin but that is beside the point.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM a "fluke" season? seriously? that's the best you can come up with? WOW. honestly, i expected better, but hey, what a convenient little explanation! at this very moment, you can't prove it, but i really can't disprove it either, so in your little head, you win! well done. pat yourself on the back. your use of the oldest cop-out in the book there was almost convincing.
clearly, according to you, when michigan wins, it's all skill, and when state wins, it's all luck. what a joke.
@GMoney42392 Had Michigan State played Ohio State, they most certainly would have lost. Their schedule, in that regard, is lucky. How could you say otherwise? Michigan is never granted a schedule which avoids the best team in the B1G.... It's just a fact. I never made any claim that Michigan State has been lucky the past three years during the Mich vs. MSU game so that segment of your comment is a complete strawman which, in the eyes of any rational observer, should disqualify you entirely.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM "most certainly would have lost," huh? just like app state in 07? hell, just like how central michigan in 09? for someone so quick to call out logical fallacy, you sure are prone to throwing around statements that are not and can not be quantified with anything more than conjecture. we dont know what would have happened if msu and osu played, because they didnt. speculating on that is pointless. was ohio state better on paper? perhaps, but since when did that guarantee victory?
@GMoney42392 Ohio State is a better team than MSU and, in the absence of an absolute miracle, MSU would have lost, fact. OSU would have been heavily favored in that game, fact. OSU has more talent on the depth chart than MSU, fact. OSU had a better coach than MSU, fact. There is simply no argument one can make to support the claim that MSU would have likely beaten OSU... but of course, that is just conjecture. Fuck off.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM now you're the one who isnt getting the picture. i never said state wouldve won, or that state winning was likely. i just said that we cant say with any real degree of certainty what definitely would have happened. all we can do is make educated guesses, which are exactly that: guesses. the last time they played, in year 1 of dantonio, msu was COMPLETELY outgunned and only lost by 7. for all intents and purposes, college football is unpredictable. its still fun to try though.
@GMoney42392 If you agree that Michigan State probably would have lost to OSU, because OSU is good and Michigan State is significantly less good, then why are we having this discussion? You agree with me. State was not the best team in the Big 10... and the Big 10 wasn't all that good last year to begin with. Look at Michigan State's depth chart. You can see the mediocrity a mile away. It is actually very comparable to Michigan's basketball team last year. They aren't good.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM fucking listen already! i never agreed that state probably would have lost to ohio state. i assume nothing on that matter. the two teams haven't played each other since 2008. there is no relevant precedent that could possibly be used to directly draw a reasonable prediction from. i concede that ohio state probably had the better team on paper, but that does NOT guarantee them a hypothetical victory! never has, never will! that's is why the play the damn games.
@GMoney42392 "there is no relevant precedent that could possibly be used to directly draw a reasonable prediction from" Vegas does it every week... and somehow manages to make money doing it. How about the things I listed... talent on the depth chart, coaching experience, facilities, school record, the school ranking, how each team fared in their bowl game - every category belonging to the Buckeyes. You know what? I don't even care tbh... It's irrelevant. MSU was bad last year. PERIOD!
@ThoseWhoStayUofM also, dismiss it as a strawman if you like, but that's most certainly the truth at the heart of your position. i know because i deal with your kind daily. you refuse to give state credit for anything, as if doing so would damage your fragile ego or something, and you argue for michigan as if it's a matter of life and death. funny story: i don't go to state. didn't even apply there out of high school. i just like toying with michigan fans who think they're smarter than they are.
@GMoney42392 Do you even know what a strawman is? It is a moot argument that neither side is disputing. I never once argued that Michigan State wasn't the better team than Michigan over the past 3 years. I believe they were, so how could that possibly be at the root of my argument? Oh, because you like making a bunch of false assumptions so that you can formulate arguments that oppose NOBODY and make yourself feel good when nobody has anything to say in response.... You're pathetic.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM well for starters, that's not what a strawman fallacy is, but you can get definitions sorted out on your own time. you may not have said that directly, but the implications are clear as day, seeing as you seriously believe you should (not could) have won a game you lost by THREE scores. and how is that not at the root of everything you've said here? you've rationalized away every big play state made by saying it was poor coaching and/or execution on the part of michigan...
@GMoney42392 Yes, that is exactly what a strawman fallacy is... idiot. When somebody refutes a claim that you didn't even make... which is exactly what you did. You're such a fool. Michigan State definitely was the better team for the past three years... how many times do I have to say that for it to sink in to your thick skull. What an idiot.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM a strawman is when one takes elements of a position, twists them into something else that's easier to refute, and refutes that. what i did was not a strawman. that was merely an aside, one that, after taking the time to read some of the other things you've said here, i believe to be sufficiently founded. if you have a problem with people saying such things about you, maybe you shouldnt be talking about how michigan should have won a game they lost by 17 goddamn points...
@GMoney42392 Hey idiot! "To 'attack a straw man' is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition" ~ Wikipedia says hi
I claimed that MSU is bad. You refuted the claim that Michigan is better than MSU. What you did is a straw man fallacy. You're a moron.
"maybe you shouldnt be talking about how michigan should have won a game they lost by 17 goddamn points"
@ThoseWhoStayUofM i refuted the claim that msu was bad. since you seem to have forgotten, i'll do it again for your convenience: 11 wins, 2 wins over ranked teams, big ten cochampionship. thats all the refutation i need. youre the only person ive talked to who doesnt consider that a good resume. and dont give me iowa and bama as proof theyre bad. iowa was an aberration, and bama had no business not being in a bcs bowl. that game only proved state still has a long way to go, especially up front.
@GMoney42392 "that game only proved state still has a long way to go, especially up front" My... only.... claim... to... you... is... that... MSU... is... mediocre.... comparable... to... that... of... Michigan's... basketball... team... last.... year... and... you... can't... seam... to... get... that... through... your... thick... skull...
OMG... fuck off. MSU was objectively a mediocre football team last year who benefited from a weak schedule and a fluke win over Wisconsin.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM the fluke argument again? seriously? i thought we were past this. i suppose their other 10 wins were all flukes too? and michigan only lost 6 games because of their strong schedule? why are you so diametrically opposed to the idea of state being good at anything? wait, don't answer that. i think i know the answer. it's because you have a superiority complex, like every other douchenozzle in the state who decided blue was their favorite color as a child.
@GMoney42392 "the fluke argument again? seriously?" Well, considering that you made that EXACT argument with regard to MSU vs Iowa, it is entirely valid. You already validated it in YOUR OWN WORDS so there is nothing you can do to say that it isn't a valid argument.
"Michigan only lost 6 games because of their strong schedule?" Michigan lost 6 games because they were bad. I mean... the difference between you and me is I don't have delusions of grandeur about my football team.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM when a normally efficient cousins throws 3 picks, thats an aberration. when a running game that averaged 150 yards a game manager 20% of that, thats an aberration. when a defense that has allowed around 20 points per game allows 37, thats an aberration. when that iowa team then goes on to lose 3 of their next 4, thats an aberration. if you honestly think those two situations are similar, then you're truly beyond help. but hey, at least that last bit shows your sense of humor.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM and as to when you said michigan should have won...
"We should have won despite our defense."
"If Michigan did all the things they had done up until that game, they should have won."
"If our offense produced like they had in the past, we would have won."
"Michigan left 24 points on the field (fact) and failed to convert on a number of 3rd and shorts due to their own lack of focus. MSU played their best football. Michigan played their worst."
@GMoney42392 Nice job completely cutting my quotes... Michigan BEAT THEMSELVES as I've been saying all along. Completely different context. You make it sound like I was saying Michigan was a better team than Michigan state in those quotes but, in context, you would see that I was claiming that Michigan was a SELF-DEFEATING team. Had they not beaten themselves on so many occasions, they would have won. There is a huge difference between those two statements. Stop quote mining faggot.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM coming from you, i'll take that quote-mining bit as a compliment. when you say that michigan beat themselves and give no credit to state playing a good game, guess what that sounds like. pray tell, why didnt michigans offense produce like it had in previous games? because state played good defense, or because they randomly decided, all on their own, to stop executing in a rivalry game at the beginning of conference play? note that the latter, your argument, makes no damn sense.
@GMoney42392 Quote-mining is never a compliment. It's logically fallacious to take quotes out of context and use them to support a completely irrelevant argument. I give State credit for taking advantage of all of the mistakes Michigan made. Then again, any mediocre team can do that. Why didn't Michigan produce like they had in previous games? Because UMASS exposed them. I already answered this question. And nice strawman AGAIN btw. You are so insignificant. Why do I bother?
@ThoseWhoStayUofM it seems you've run out of arguments if youre seriously going to accuse me of using another strawman. it was fun seeing just how far you'd go to defend your team (and by proxy, your ego), but youve grown boring. if all youre gonna do is repeat the same copouts and excuses, then theres no more entertainment to be had here, and if you seriously want to believe that michigans loss had more to do with umass than state, go right ahead. for your egos sake, you may have the last word.
@GMoney42392 Thanks for the last word dipshit. Am I using the same argument? Sure... why not? You haven't refuted it. Actually, you've VERIFIED IT by using it yourself in a similar scenario. You've been absolutely destroyed and strung out to dry in this little debate and it's plain as day. Another straw man - I never once defended my team. I've said countless times how bad they were last season because I am not the deluded one amongst us. MSU is a terrible football team - exposed by Bama.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM A team that wins 11 games isn't terrible. Are you really that thick-headed? Let's take a look here. Let's switch places. Let's say that Mississippi State played MSU. I can guarantee that, not only would MSU would win, but rather big. Michigan, who got their asses totally kicked Miss. State, would have given up at least 70 points to 'Bama. How about you take your head out of your ass. Because 11 win teams don't suck. Teams with shit defenses do.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Another thing that I fail to realize is how anyone can even argue that MSU was terrible. That did a good job handling Michigan and pretty much everyone else on their schedule. I will admit that the Iowa loss SHOULD NOT have happened. But I knew MSU was going to be killed against Alabama. I didn't bother watching the game.
@MrThatswhatshesaid12 MSU benefited from a weak schedule and a weak B1G. You will see that MSU is going to take huge leaps back in 2011. MSU will be lucky to finish with less than 4 losses next year despite retaining most of their starters on offense and defense. You just don't get it. The Iowa loss should have happened. MSU showed their true colors in that game (not to mention Bama). The Wisconsin game is the one that shouldn't have happened. That was clearly a trap game for Wisconsin.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM ...while crediting michigan and michigan alone with every big play they made. why was state able to run all over michigan's defense? not because state has great running backs and o line play, but because michigan's linebackers wrre coached to line up out of position. why did those int's happen? not because of good coverage and pressure by state, but because denard just randomly decided to make shitty throws all on his own, with no influence by the defense. your words, not mine.
@GMoney42392 ARE YOU DUMB!!!! Michigan's defense SUCKED last year! I don't credit Michigan with every big play either, but any fool can realise Michigan's defense was one of the worst, not in the big 10, but in the country. Those interceptions were because of Denard too.... especially the one to Roy Roundtree who was wide open in the endzone and Denard just misfired. Any moron can see that. It takes a special kind of moron to think it was good coverage... a moron I like to call Sparty.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM i'm sure it was one big coincidence that denard happened to start misfiring the same week he faced his first bcs-caliber defense? int's are always the fault of the qb at least partially, but the defense still needs to make a play for them to happen. take that third one for example. how can you NOT credit rucker with making a big play there? he read denard like a book and somehow chased down a pass to a receiver who had 10-15 yards on him. but of course, that was just a misfire.
@GMoney42392 Nice joke... oh wait... you were serious? Denard threw a terrible pick in the UMASS game, so you are just factually inaccurate. That is the game that everybody used as a basis for how to beat Denard. UMASS was the first team to actually accomplish something defensively against him. Dantonio saw that film and put his defense in a position to make plays on him (for one of the picks - when Michigan was driving towards the student section). The other two were all Denard's fault.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM i've read this reply about five times now and i still have no idea what youre trying to say, or what umass has to do with anything. heres what i gather right now: first you suggest that one pick against a mediocre fcs team was enough tape for dantonio to figure denard out (not sure what that proves...), and then you excuse one of his ints by saying he was driving toward the msu student section? are you KIDDING? news flash: good qbs dont get rattled by visiting student sections.
@GMoney42392 "maybe you shouldnt be talking about how michigan should have won a game they lost by 17 goddamn points"
Ok, I'll quote you - fucking idiot.... "i'm sure it was one big coincidence that denard happened to start misfiring the same week he faced his first bcs-caliber defense?" Remember that one??? moron??? Then I replied to that by showing that Denard had significant problems against A NON BCS CALIBER DEFENSE!!! to show how ARROGANT your comment truly is. WOW!!!
@ThoseWhoStayUofM how did umass give denard problems? he went for 350 yards and 3 touchdowns! sure he threw a pick, but one pick in 76 attempts is hardly unreasonable, especially on a 70% overall completion percentage. you've officially stopped making sense. what the hell are you trying to argue now? that michigan doesn't have talent on offense either, because denard happened to throw a pick against an fcs defense? you're so out of touch you're beginning to confuse even your own damn self.
@GMoney42392 Denard only had 14 passing attempts idiot.... now i know you are a troll. You think he had 76 passing attempts in a single game? I'm done with you. You have got to be the dumbest kid on the planet. What am I trying to argue? That MSU was bad last year and that bragging about beating a Michigan team that had the worst defense in school history is a fucking joke. The fact that you would dispute this is unimaginable to me.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM 76 pass attempts in the first three games... i expected such a smart kid to be able to pick up on that. but go ahead, keep saying i'm the stupid one. that just makes your brain farts that much more amusing. just as well that you're done with me now though. now you can go back to your hole and keep mindlessly hating on state just like all the other maize and blue lemmings that real michigan fans are embarrassed to be associated with. good day to you, sir.
@GMoney42392 I did pick up on the 76 pass attempts in the first three games, except I didn't want to assume you were truly THAT stupid. I was hoping the 76 was a typo. I mean, how could you possibly justify the belief that how Denard did in the first two games were applicable to Denard's play against UMASS? Unbelievable. You are the most illogical person I have ever talked to. By the way, what constitutes a "real Michigan fan"? You can stop talking out of your ass any time now....
@ThoseWhoStayUofM i dont know, maybe the same way you justify umass having anything to do with denard's performance against state? my point was this: ints happen. theyre unavoidable. when a guy goes more than 3 or 4 games without throwing a pick, that's a remarkable accomplishment. it took denard 3 games for it to happen. youre acting like that proves umass had something figured out. that couldn't possibly be less true. it was a perfectly normal occurrence in the context of a season. period.
being a michigan fan since michigan obviously cant get the big ten title i wouldnt mind state having it i mean atleast it would bring pride to the state of michigan :D
Okay, so I usually refrain from commenting on videos, but ARE U KIDDING ME ThoseWhoStayUofM??? Michigan was only in this game for 1 quarter, you really can't contest that. We were marching the ball up the field every possesion, and your offense, even if it converted those 3 picks would've still been short of our score. More than anything I love how you get totally defensive when MSU clearly was the better team. So grow up
@torongo69 "even if it converted those 3 picks would've still been short of our score."
WRONG... math is hard hu?
"I love how you get totally defensive when MSU clearly was the better team."
The 3 turnovers killed us. This offense is too young and inexperienced to be able to function at its optimal level when down by multiple scores. They go away from the run and make more mistakes. Turning the ball over caused them to lose. MSU's defense didn't force those picks. They were gifts.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM No bud, as a business management major math really isn't an issue for me. Two of the picks were in the endzone, accounting for 14 points and the point spread was 17, even if you would've gotten conversions you still would've been short. And concerning your offense... it hadn't played a real defense all season! States defense was ranked 41st when we played, and Michigan hadn't faced a defense below 60th all season. Our pressure forced your team to play poorly.
@torongo69 2 picks in the endzone + 1 field goal = 17 points taken from Michigan's score that MSU isn't responsible for at all. That's not even counting the third pick. Fuck off douche bag. Michigan handed you the W. Everyone knows it. Only mindless Spartans would believe that their team is so great that they conquered the beast of Michigan football that went 5-7 last year. Again... fuck off douche bag. You're dumb as rocks.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Haha all I said is we are the better team this year, which given our record and our score against you its pretty obvious we are. You just can't admit that, which is halarious. Im not contesting Michigans dynasty in college football, nor its record against us. ALL I'M SAYING is that our team is better this year, which is true. And please, stop namecalling. It makes you look about 5 years old and does nothing to curb the "walmart wolverine" stereotype
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Haha I hope this fills your nights, this definitely shows your maturity. It's sad that the one Michigan student I run into on Youtube has to be a child. I have a ton of good friends over there and they all agree with me. They're not happy about it, but its OBVIOUS we're better. Asshole. Douchebag. Get a girlfriend. And you can quote those in your defense, since it took so much effort to think them up lol
@torongo69 "Haha I hope this fills your nights" hypocrite "this definitely shows your maturity" hypocrite I have a ton of good friends over there" oooh... mister popular! I don't give a shit. "they all agree with me" of course they do. Or maybe they just don't enjoy arguing with idiots. "its OBVIOUS we're better" You played better. "Asshole. Douchebag. Get a girlfriend" hypocrite "And you can quote those in your defense" OK
Do Michigan fans actually think they should have won? What a joke. State is better obviously. All Michigan has is an overrated qb. So shut up and grow up
kobe bryant is so much better than michael jordan right...even though jordan's stats are higher in every category, i like your outlook..its so...never mind i cant explain it
@jlsmsu12 its funny how i always hear from sparty fans saying that michigan has no class. Well it's pretty evident that every team has their classless fans. You are a prime example. MSU played a better game and Michigan didn't play their best. I hate to say it but this may have been what this rivalry needed, a 3 year stretch of sparty being victorious. The hype will be building from here on until next years game.
Sparty played a good game, no doubt. Funny thing about this video is that at the 2:57 mark, it looks as though Sparty got away with yet another delay of game (ND fake fg). Went for a TD on this one.
@ryleee10 you're fucking retarded. When the clock hits 0:00 the ref puts his head up and if the ball isnt snapped then it is a penalty. Plus, the fucking way we were running it down your throat, the extra 5 yards wouldnt have mattered. PLUS, it was IN ANN ARBOR! dont even start with this shit. Goddamnit, Michigan fans need to learn how to lose with fucking class. You guys are fucking pathetic.
@cousins851 wow! I don't even know where to start with this guy. First off though, I actually know Cousins. A great person and a true Christian man. He would be ashamed that you're even typing out c-o-u-s-i-n-s, let alone using it as part of your screen name. Hopefully you really are 13 years old! I feel for ya, kid!
@ryleee10 Well Robinson would be ashamed you are trying to blame the victory on the play clock and from the benefits of the refs. You are just like every other Michigan fan "Well, Robinson didnt play well, you guys got so lucky. Next year we will beat the shit out of you". No! Robinson didnt play well because we put pressure on him knowing that he cant throw. ACCEPT THE LOSS! Michigan State is better as of right now. You guys were WAY overhyped going into that game! Dont make excuses. pathetic.
@cousins851 LMAO!!! I believe I said that MSU played a good game. Made no excuse for a loss! Little brothers and sisters like yourself sure are cute though...
....67-31-5!!!!!!
Congrats on the win, sis! I've accepted the loss. Better team won this year. See ya next year, little sister!
@ryleee10 First of all, you are retarded. The past makes so effect on what is happening today in terms of football. I would hope Michigan has the better head to head record seen as how when MSU first started it was the secondary school and not even a big school at ALL. Everyone wanted to go to the midwest "Harvard" Not anymore. Ppl have realized how arrogant you are. Little sister and brother? That is the most pathetic thing i have ever heard in my life. 1,100 days and counting, LITTLE SISTER
Pound green pound. MSU's running game just punished Michigan throughout. Michigan's defensive line played well for most of the game (Mike Martin is a player) but got wore down in the 2nd half, and that secondary is just total garbage.
Thanks for posting - great Spartan win in all three phases of the game. This game was no fluke, no last second plays, no officiating controversies, just a convincing pounding of Michigan on their home field. Hope you guys beat Iowa on Saturday though.
Denard Robinson had a terrible game. His level of play had absolutely nothing to do with the Spartans. MSU did a good job stopping him on the run. That is all the credit they get. Those interceptions were entirely Denard's fault and relatively zero credit should be given to the MSU defense (open receivers, pass was thrown to MSU). Likewise, there were a BUNCH of dropped passes that are very uncharacteristic of these wide receivers, again not MSU.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM HAHAHA whatever you say buddy. Did you ever think that the reason why Denard threw 3 picks in this game after he had thrown 1 in 5 games might be because he was facing a good defense? The whole plan was to contain Denard's running game and make him beat us in the air on a short field (red zone) and it worked perfectly. He is not a great passer obviously. Go ahead and be in denial though - I'm sure Clayborn and the Hawkeyes will just let Denard run all over them.
@JDHornski On all three of those picks (except maybe the last one) the defense was completely out of position and the wide receiver was wide open in the endzone. Denard simply misthrew the ball. Was it due to good defense? Absolutely not.
"The whole plan was to contain Denard's running game"
Did I not give MSU credit for that? Learn to read moron.
"He is not a great passer"
His passer rating is one of the best in the league idiot. He had a bad day.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM You're the one with the reading problem. I know you gave us credit for stopping the run, but that was the point - if you stop the run he is forced to pass. Our secondary did a great job in coverage and making plays on those 3rd and long passing situations. MSU held UM to 2-11 (18%) on third down, and 0-6 (0%) on third downs of longer than four. Coming into the game, UM was 30-61 (49%) on third down.
@JDHornski "if you stop the run he is forced to pass."
I know... I literally addressed this directly after pointing out your continuously apparent lack of reading comprehension. I mean, seriously? Is this a joke? How dumb can you be?
"Our secondary did a great job in coverage."
It's like talking to a brick wall. I give up. I already addressed this. I made perfect sense. You ignore logic and reason in lieu of something more appealing.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Also in regards to passer rating - look at the competition your first 5 games. Let's revisit what his passer rating is after you play Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio State...
@ThoseWhoStayUofM You would have to use an exceedingly liberal interpretation of a team beating itself to say that Michigan beat itself.
I mean, if you think starting a QB who can't throw, and a defense that can't tackle is an example of a team "beating itself", then yeah, I guess you could make that argument. But then you have to ask what happened when that QB tried to throw the ball, or why that defense can't tackle, and you simply have to start giving credit MSU.
@MrThatswhatshesaid12 "You would have to use an exceedingly liberal interpretation of a team beating itself to say that Michigan beat itself"
You're exceedingly stupid. The guy threw three interceptions while having wide receivers WIDE OPEN on all three plays. Michigan's receivers had more dropped passes than I have ever seen Michigan receivers drop in my LIFE. Two of the three picks were IN THE RED ZONE.
By your logic, Michigan didn't beat itself against OSU either
@bbbeaverboys Michigan was undefeated going into the MSU game. If Michigan did all the things they had done up until that game, they should have won. This is fact by definition. Don't take my words out of context and PAY ATTENTION.
Michigan's defense played NO DIFFERENT from past weeks. This means they weren't a contributing factor to the lose. The only variables that changed were on the offensive side of the ball. If our offense produced like they had in the past, we would have won.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM UM means 'um, we lost' , and then lost again this week, and so on, etc...... I think MSU's defense had a hand in your offense being a little "off" - it seems when you play good teams like MSU or Iowa , you can't handle the pressure and speed - you just don't have the talent, end of story. keep you chin up, there is always hockey season
"it seems when you play good teams like MSU or Iowa, you can't handle the pressure and speed"
That's funny because Michigan's offense had over 500 yards of total offense against Iowa.
"you just don't have the talent"
The talent is fine. We are just very young still. Our senior class is very small (Lloyd Carr) and we still have a lot of experience to gain, especially defensively.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM it's ok buddy, we know it's hard to swallow , maybe in a few years you will break .500 in the big ten. a "smart" guy like you would understand it's not how many yards you have at the end of the game that matters, especially when teams are in a prevent b/c they are kicking your butt.
@occlude32 "Maybe in a few years you will break .500 in the big ten"
What was State's record in the big 10 last year? Michigan State has an easy schedule this year. You will over-perform in the regular season and get killed in a bowl. Enjoy!
"it's not how many yards you have at the end of the game that matters"
You're so dumb! You said Michigan doesn't have speed. Michigan has more speed than ANYONE in the Big 10. They don't have SIZE. You are so stupid. I'm done with you.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM I'm glad your done, just like your team - they quit just like you. Get ready for another pounding next year too , baby blue is in deep trouble....
@ThoseWhoStayUofM you spelled eloquent wrong...... lol, great school . i thought you were done last time - what's the matter , you keep coming back for more? I am guessing you didn't even go to UM (i.e. Walmart Wolverine). That's ok, most of your fans didn't ...... thanks for the comedy, it was fun. peace out
@ThoseWhoStayUofM It is far easier to say that MSU could have scored another couple TDs if they hadn't started killing the clock in the 3rd Q., but I haven't entertained many hypotheticals, the game was a one sided affair.
Please... MSU was killing the clock all game. They ran the same offense in the 3rd as in the 1st. Run-run-pass... Run-run-pass... etc. Michigan left 24 points on the field (fact) and failed to convert on a number of 3rd and shorts due to their own lack of focus. MSU played their best football. Michigan played their worst. This is so blatantly obvious it's abhorrent that anyone would disagree.
@MrThatswhatshesaid12 Denard wasn't a turnover machine. He threw for 2570 yrds and 18 touchdowns and only 11 picks. Compare that with your beloved Kirk Cousins who threw for 2825 yrds and 20 touchdowns for only 10 picks. Considering Denard is a FIRST YEAR STARTER!!! I'd say that's pretty damn good, and we haven't even taken into consideration that Denard Robinson ran the ball for over 1500 yards and 14 touchdowns compared Cousins' -128 rushing yards and only 1 TD. [Overall Denard > Cousins]
@MSUSpartan483 Correct.... it was an exageration. MSU was a mediocre team last year despite their 11-2 season that benefitted from a weak schedule, a trick play, and a solid B1G team that forgot to show up that day, and everybody, even you, knows it.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM So, what's your excuse for losing to the Spartans AGAIN? Paul Bunyan trophy has been sitting in East Lansing for what four years now?
@Eagle027 What? Are you saying that Badger fans think that Wisconsin played to their potential against MSU last year? Nice joke. That Wisconsin team was far and away superior to Michigan State last year, despite losing to them. I mean, James White averaged 9.8 yards per carry against MSU... yet somehow Wisconsin still found a way to lose that game. If that game was played in Madison, it would have been a Wisconsin victory. 9 times out of 10, that game is a Wisconsin victory in East Lansing.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM I'm sure it would make no sense to the intellectually challenged. Not your fault, you can only deal with the genes your parents gave you. Are you so stupid as to think the Badgers were not trying to win that game? I guess last week your loser team wasn't trying to win either, right? Better teams win no matter what the setting or in what stadium. Maybe, you just don't understand the game of football as well as you think.
@Eagle027 "Coulda woulda and shoulda are meaningless terms for losers like you."
This statement is nonsensical. Why would coulda woulda shoulda be meaningless terms? Maybe the fact that they aren't actually words... so you're taking a literal approach? No normally functioning individual could make sense of this statement. What's your point? Like I already said, you're an idiot.
"Better teams win no matter what the setting or in what stadium."
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Just because in your world you create fantasies that your teams actually mean something, doesn't make it so. Paper doesn't determine the outcome of a football game performance does.
@Eagle027 What? The better team does not always win. That's absurd. If this were true, then why do some teams win four out of five games during a seven game playoff series? What happened in the one game where the team that won the series lost to the team that lost the series? If the better team always wins, i really question your definition of "better". If "the better team" means, "the winning team" then your statement is a meaningless tautology. You're just dumb... plain and simple.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM I really don't care about your lame excuses. The better team always wins. If a team loses, they were not the better team. You're just looking for excuses, to explain a bad performence. Fours years running beating Michigan and now two years running beating Wisconsin, Michigan State was clearing the better team. They won. Even though they are hurting this year, the Buckeyes should be the better team during the Game. Last seven years the Bucks were the better team.
@Eagle027 When somebody debunks a claim that you made, that's not "looking for excuses". That's you getting your ass handed to you in a debate. Seriously... you're the dumbest person on the planet.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM You debunked it only in your own little fantasy world. If you want dumbest person, look into a mirror. Why do you midwesterners delude yourself into thinking you really matter? If the team was better why did they lose? Are you one of those idiots who blames the refs when your team kicks their asses kicked? Last year OSU won their Bowl game, who else did, I guess they weren't the better team in your eyes.
@Eagle027 "You debunked it only in your own little fantasy world."
In logic, a counterexample proves the falsity of a universal quantification. You claimed that, for all games played, the better team wins. I provided a counterexample to that claim. In a seven game series, a team often loses 1, 2, or even 3 games to a team that they are better than. The better team may even lose the series in rare cases.
Under your claim, there should be an undefeated team in every Superbowl. Idiot.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Idiot, if they were the better team they would have won on the day they played. You make no sense. You only use your little worthless theories to justify in your tiny mind when your team loses.
In your seven game series, the day that team lost, they weren't better, which is why they lost. Your worthless paper stats mean nothing, the only thing that counts is performance while playing on any particular day.
@Eagle027 "In your seven game series, the day that team lost, they weren't better, which is why they lost."
I already debunked this refutation. This is a logical fallacy of equivocation. Since you can not possibly be correct under the standard definition of "the better team" you lower the bar of "better" from being objective to being "day-to-day". Also, by this definition, I can just claim MSU is better 1 day of the year and Michigan is better 364 days of the year. How absurd!
@ThoseWhoStayUofM You asshole keep claiming Michigan has the best football program in the Big Ten, bases on hundred year old stats. Well put your stats up your ass, Michigan hasn't had a decent run in over ten years. Seven straight losses to the Buck and the Spartans own the Bunyan trophy. You're all has beens.
@Eagle027 "You asshole keep claiming Michigan has the best football program in the Big Ten"
This is the straw man logical fallacy. I never once claimed that Michigan was the best football program in the Big 10. Although, I do believe it, I never once said it.
"Michigan hasn't had a decent run in over ten years. "
This is patently false. Michigan went undefeated in 2006 up until the last game of the regular season when when #2 Michigan lost to #1 Ohio State by 3 points. You're ignorant.
@ThoseWhoStayUofM They lost, period. In the end that is all that matters. They lost to the better team. By the way, the AP rating system is meaningless.
@Eagle027 I am a MSU fan too but you have no class so you should just shut the fuck up and stop posting, obviously Michigan has a better program then MSU. Yes we won 4 years in a row, but the first time in how many years? plus MSU is gonna suck next year because they are losing their seniors and michigan is getting good recruits. Show some class. BTW at the end of the season they were ranked 2 in the BCS rankings, Just saying. Not AP
@Eagle027 well the way your talking in your comments make it sound like you are a MSU fan, i bet if you asked each and everyone of those people you were arguing with they would say you are a MSU fan, and I'm defending michigan because im not a D-bag like some fans of teams are. And why do you hate Michigan so much then?
@smiller108 If you had the reading comprehension of a First grader, you would have seen I also made comments about Buckeyes beating the loserines as well, and no I'm not from Ohio either. You're defending Michigan because you're an Ann Arbor whore. I know enough MSU fans to know no self respecting Spartan would defend Michigan FOR ANY REASON. Even they say you're a Loserine. I dislike current Michigan fans who falsely claim they have a great program based on hundred year old stats.
@Eagle027 You're an idiot. In the end that is all that matters. You have no cognitive abilities to fathom logical reasoning. By the way, the AP rating system is only 1 of 3 rating systems which contribute to the BCS rankings and it's just as meaningful as the other two... you ignorant fuck.

ThoseWhoStayUofM 9 months ago
I love the MSU shitters on here. MSU sucked last year. Talking shit about Michigan's defense is like talking shit after you just beat a paraplegic swim team in the butterfly. It's just asinine.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 9 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Is there a point in this post? U of M has sucked for the past 3 years. Michigan State has beat U of M 3 years in a row. What's your excuse for that dumb ass?
dkspartan1 8 months ago
@dkspartan1 What did I say that is so complex? What is so hard to understand? Michigan has fielded its three worst years of football in its entire history and MSU shitters believe that they have accomplished some astounding feat. News flash douche bag, the majority of the teams that play Michigan over those same three years have beaten them. It's just not an accomplishment worth bragging about. Wait until Michigan is a powerhouse again and then you can legitimately make an argument.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 8 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM whatever helps you sleep at night, sweetheart. the better team won that day, just like it has three years running. besides, i'll bet you think it's a big deal that michigan hoops beat easily the worst state team in over a decade twice this year. clown.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Again... you completely miss the point. See a doctor. There must be a medical condition for the complete inability to comprehend an argument. Michigan = really bad. Michigan State = bad. Michigan State > Michigan. Bad > really bad. Being bad is nothing to brag about.
Michigan basketball = mediocre. Michigan State basketball = bad. Mediocre > bad.... need I go on? You seriously must be the dumbest kid on the planet.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM ...so 11 wins and a big ten co-championship is "bad" now? good to know. thanks for clarifying that. just be sure to remember that next time michigan wins 10.
seriously though: you know your team is up shit's creek when you resort to the "we may suck, but you suck too!" defense. but hey, like i said before, whatever helps you sleep at night, sweetheart.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 You beat Wisconsin... that's it. Michigan has to play Ohio State - the best team in the Big 10 - every year... so when Michigan gets 11 (or 10) wins, it is usually much more meaningful than your fluke season. Michigan State was an indisputably and unequivocally mediocre team last year. BTW... I wouldn't consider MSU a Big 10 co-champion either. They should be considered the outright B1G champs with OSU being eliminated and MSU > Wisconsin but that is beside the point.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM a "fluke" season? seriously? that's the best you can come up with? WOW. honestly, i expected better, but hey, what a convenient little explanation! at this very moment, you can't prove it, but i really can't disprove it either, so in your little head, you win! well done. pat yourself on the back. your use of the oldest cop-out in the book there was almost convincing.
clearly, according to you, when michigan wins, it's all skill, and when state wins, it's all luck. what a joke.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Had Michigan State played Ohio State, they most certainly would have lost. Their schedule, in that regard, is lucky. How could you say otherwise? Michigan is never granted a schedule which avoids the best team in the B1G.... It's just a fact. I never made any claim that Michigan State has been lucky the past three years during the Mich vs. MSU game so that segment of your comment is a complete strawman which, in the eyes of any rational observer, should disqualify you entirely.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM "most certainly would have lost," huh? just like app state in 07? hell, just like how central michigan in 09? for someone so quick to call out logical fallacy, you sure are prone to throwing around statements that are not and can not be quantified with anything more than conjecture. we dont know what would have happened if msu and osu played, because they didnt. speculating on that is pointless. was ohio state better on paper? perhaps, but since when did that guarantee victory?
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Ohio State is a better team than MSU and, in the absence of an absolute miracle, MSU would have lost, fact. OSU would have been heavily favored in that game, fact. OSU has more talent on the depth chart than MSU, fact. OSU had a better coach than MSU, fact. There is simply no argument one can make to support the claim that MSU would have likely beaten OSU... but of course, that is just conjecture. Fuck off.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM now you're the one who isnt getting the picture. i never said state wouldve won, or that state winning was likely. i just said that we cant say with any real degree of certainty what definitely would have happened. all we can do is make educated guesses, which are exactly that: guesses. the last time they played, in year 1 of dantonio, msu was COMPLETELY outgunned and only lost by 7. for all intents and purposes, college football is unpredictable. its still fun to try though.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 If you agree that Michigan State probably would have lost to OSU, because OSU is good and Michigan State is significantly less good, then why are we having this discussion? You agree with me. State was not the best team in the Big 10... and the Big 10 wasn't all that good last year to begin with. Look at Michigan State's depth chart. You can see the mediocrity a mile away. It is actually very comparable to Michigan's basketball team last year. They aren't good.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM fucking listen already! i never agreed that state probably would have lost to ohio state. i assume nothing on that matter. the two teams haven't played each other since 2008. there is no relevant precedent that could possibly be used to directly draw a reasonable prediction from. i concede that ohio state probably had the better team on paper, but that does NOT guarantee them a hypothetical victory! never has, never will! that's is why the play the damn games.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 "there is no relevant precedent that could possibly be used to directly draw a reasonable prediction from" Vegas does it every week... and somehow manages to make money doing it. How about the things I listed... talent on the depth chart, coaching experience, facilities, school record, the school ranking, how each team fared in their bowl game - every category belonging to the Buckeyes. You know what? I don't even care tbh... It's irrelevant. MSU was bad last year. PERIOD!
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM also, dismiss it as a strawman if you like, but that's most certainly the truth at the heart of your position. i know because i deal with your kind daily. you refuse to give state credit for anything, as if doing so would damage your fragile ego or something, and you argue for michigan as if it's a matter of life and death. funny story: i don't go to state. didn't even apply there out of high school. i just like toying with michigan fans who think they're smarter than they are.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Do you even know what a strawman is? It is a moot argument that neither side is disputing. I never once argued that Michigan State wasn't the better team than Michigan over the past 3 years. I believe they were, so how could that possibly be at the root of my argument? Oh, because you like making a bunch of false assumptions so that you can formulate arguments that oppose NOBODY and make yourself feel good when nobody has anything to say in response.... You're pathetic.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago

ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM a strawman is when one takes elements of a position, twists them into something else that's easier to refute, and refutes that. what i did was not a strawman. that was merely an aside, one that, after taking the time to read some of the other things you've said here, i believe to be sufficiently founded. if you have a problem with people saying such things about you, maybe you shouldnt be talking about how michigan should have won a game they lost by 17 goddamn points...
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Hey idiot! "To 'attack a straw man' is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition" ~ Wikipedia says hi
I claimed that MSU is bad. You refuted the claim that Michigan is better than MSU. What you did is a straw man fallacy. You're a moron.
"maybe you shouldnt be talking about how michigan should have won a game they lost by 17 goddamn points"
Unbelievable. When did I say that? NEVER!!!!
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM i refuted the claim that msu was bad. since you seem to have forgotten, i'll do it again for your convenience: 11 wins, 2 wins over ranked teams, big ten cochampionship. thats all the refutation i need. youre the only person ive talked to who doesnt consider that a good resume. and dont give me iowa and bama as proof theyre bad. iowa was an aberration, and bama had no business not being in a bcs bowl. that game only proved state still has a long way to go, especially up front.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 "that game only proved state still has a long way to go, especially up front" My... only.... claim... to... you... is... that... MSU... is... mediocre.... comparable... to... that... of... Michigan's... basketball... team... last.... year... and... you... can't... seam... to... get... that... through... your... thick... skull...
OMG... fuck off. MSU was objectively a mediocre football team last year who benefited from a weak schedule and a fluke win over Wisconsin.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM the fluke argument again? seriously? i thought we were past this. i suppose their other 10 wins were all flukes too? and michigan only lost 6 games because of their strong schedule? why are you so diametrically opposed to the idea of state being good at anything? wait, don't answer that. i think i know the answer. it's because you have a superiority complex, like every other douchenozzle in the state who decided blue was their favorite color as a child.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 "the fluke argument again? seriously?" Well, considering that you made that EXACT argument with regard to MSU vs Iowa, it is entirely valid. You already validated it in YOUR OWN WORDS so there is nothing you can do to say that it isn't a valid argument.
"Michigan only lost 6 games because of their strong schedule?" Michigan lost 6 games because they were bad. I mean... the difference between you and me is I don't have delusions of grandeur about my football team.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM when a normally efficient cousins throws 3 picks, thats an aberration. when a running game that averaged 150 yards a game manager 20% of that, thats an aberration. when a defense that has allowed around 20 points per game allows 37, thats an aberration. when that iowa team then goes on to lose 3 of their next 4, thats an aberration. if you honestly think those two situations are similar, then you're truly beyond help. but hey, at least that last bit shows your sense of humor.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM and as to when you said michigan should have won...
"We should have won despite our defense."
"If Michigan did all the things they had done up until that game, they should have won."
"If our offense produced like they had in the past, we would have won."
"Michigan left 24 points on the field (fact) and failed to convert on a number of 3rd and shorts due to their own lack of focus. MSU played their best football. Michigan played their worst."
funny how you forget those...
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Nice job completely cutting my quotes... Michigan BEAT THEMSELVES as I've been saying all along. Completely different context. You make it sound like I was saying Michigan was a better team than Michigan state in those quotes but, in context, you would see that I was claiming that Michigan was a SELF-DEFEATING team. Had they not beaten themselves on so many occasions, they would have won. There is a huge difference between those two statements. Stop quote mining faggot.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM coming from you, i'll take that quote-mining bit as a compliment. when you say that michigan beat themselves and give no credit to state playing a good game, guess what that sounds like. pray tell, why didnt michigans offense produce like it had in previous games? because state played good defense, or because they randomly decided, all on their own, to stop executing in a rivalry game at the beginning of conference play? note that the latter, your argument, makes no damn sense.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Quote-mining is never a compliment. It's logically fallacious to take quotes out of context and use them to support a completely irrelevant argument. I give State credit for taking advantage of all of the mistakes Michigan made. Then again, any mediocre team can do that. Why didn't Michigan produce like they had in previous games? Because UMASS exposed them. I already answered this question. And nice strawman AGAIN btw. You are so insignificant. Why do I bother?
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM it seems you've run out of arguments if youre seriously going to accuse me of using another strawman. it was fun seeing just how far you'd go to defend your team (and by proxy, your ego), but youve grown boring. if all youre gonna do is repeat the same copouts and excuses, then theres no more entertainment to be had here, and if you seriously want to believe that michigans loss had more to do with umass than state, go right ahead. for your egos sake, you may have the last word.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Thanks for the last word dipshit. Am I using the same argument? Sure... why not? You haven't refuted it. Actually, you've VERIFIED IT by using it yourself in a similar scenario. You've been absolutely destroyed and strung out to dry in this little debate and it's plain as day. Another straw man - I never once defended my team. I've said countless times how bad they were last season because I am not the deluded one amongst us. MSU is a terrible football team - exposed by Bama.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM A team that wins 11 games isn't terrible. Are you really that thick-headed? Let's take a look here. Let's switch places. Let's say that Mississippi State played MSU. I can guarantee that, not only would MSU would win, but rather big. Michigan, who got their asses totally kicked Miss. State, would have given up at least 70 points to 'Bama. How about you take your head out of your ass. Because 11 win teams don't suck. Teams with shit defenses do.
MrThatswhatshesaid12 6 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Another thing that I fail to realize is how anyone can even argue that MSU was terrible. That did a good job handling Michigan and pretty much everyone else on their schedule. I will admit that the Iowa loss SHOULD NOT have happened. But I knew MSU was going to be killed against Alabama. I didn't bother watching the game.
MrThatswhatshesaid12 6 months ago
@MrThatswhatshesaid12 MSU benefited from a weak schedule and a weak B1G. You will see that MSU is going to take huge leaps back in 2011. MSU will be lucky to finish with less than 4 losses next year despite retaining most of their starters on offense and defense. You just don't get it. The Iowa loss should have happened. MSU showed their true colors in that game (not to mention Bama). The Wisconsin game is the one that shouldn't have happened. That was clearly a trap game for Wisconsin.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 6 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM ...while crediting michigan and michigan alone with every big play they made. why was state able to run all over michigan's defense? not because state has great running backs and o line play, but because michigan's linebackers wrre coached to line up out of position. why did those int's happen? not because of good coverage and pressure by state, but because denard just randomly decided to make shitty throws all on his own, with no influence by the defense. your words, not mine.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 ARE YOU DUMB!!!! Michigan's defense SUCKED last year! I don't credit Michigan with every big play either, but any fool can realise Michigan's defense was one of the worst, not in the big 10, but in the country. Those interceptions were because of Denard too.... especially the one to Roy Roundtree who was wide open in the endzone and Denard just misfired. Any moron can see that. It takes a special kind of moron to think it was good coverage... a moron I like to call Sparty.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM i'm sure it was one big coincidence that denard happened to start misfiring the same week he faced his first bcs-caliber defense? int's are always the fault of the qb at least partially, but the defense still needs to make a play for them to happen. take that third one for example. how can you NOT credit rucker with making a big play there? he read denard like a book and somehow chased down a pass to a receiver who had 10-15 yards on him. but of course, that was just a misfire.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Nice joke... oh wait... you were serious? Denard threw a terrible pick in the UMASS game, so you are just factually inaccurate. That is the game that everybody used as a basis for how to beat Denard. UMASS was the first team to actually accomplish something defensively against him. Dantonio saw that film and put his defense in a position to make plays on him (for one of the picks - when Michigan was driving towards the student section). The other two were all Denard's fault.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM i've read this reply about five times now and i still have no idea what youre trying to say, or what umass has to do with anything. heres what i gather right now: first you suggest that one pick against a mediocre fcs team was enough tape for dantonio to figure denard out (not sure what that proves...), and then you excuse one of his ints by saying he was driving toward the msu student section? are you KIDDING? news flash: good qbs dont get rattled by visiting student sections.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 "maybe you shouldnt be talking about how michigan should have won a game they lost by 17 goddamn points"
Ok, I'll quote you - fucking idiot.... "i'm sure it was one big coincidence that denard happened to start misfiring the same week he faced his first bcs-caliber defense?" Remember that one??? moron??? Then I replied to that by showing that Denard had significant problems against A NON BCS CALIBER DEFENSE!!! to show how ARROGANT your comment truly is. WOW!!!
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM how did umass give denard problems? he went for 350 yards and 3 touchdowns! sure he threw a pick, but one pick in 76 attempts is hardly unreasonable, especially on a 70% overall completion percentage. you've officially stopped making sense. what the hell are you trying to argue now? that michigan doesn't have talent on offense either, because denard happened to throw a pick against an fcs defense? you're so out of touch you're beginning to confuse even your own damn self.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 Denard only had 14 passing attempts idiot.... now i know you are a troll. You think he had 76 passing attempts in a single game? I'm done with you. You have got to be the dumbest kid on the planet. What am I trying to argue? That MSU was bad last year and that bragging about beating a Michigan team that had the worst defense in school history is a fucking joke. The fact that you would dispute this is unimaginable to me.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM 76 pass attempts in the first three games... i expected such a smart kid to be able to pick up on that. but go ahead, keep saying i'm the stupid one. that just makes your brain farts that much more amusing. just as well that you're done with me now though. now you can go back to your hole and keep mindlessly hating on state just like all the other maize and blue lemmings that real michigan fans are embarrassed to be associated with. good day to you, sir.
GMoney42392 7 months ago
@GMoney42392 I did pick up on the 76 pass attempts in the first three games, except I didn't want to assume you were truly THAT stupid. I was hoping the 76 was a typo. I mean, how could you possibly justify the belief that how Denard did in the first two games were applicable to Denard's play against UMASS? Unbelievable. You are the most illogical person I have ever talked to. By the way, what constitutes a "real Michigan fan"? You can stop talking out of your ass any time now....
ThoseWhoStayUofM 7 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM i dont know, maybe the same way you justify umass having anything to do with denard's performance against state? my point was this: ints happen. theyre unavoidable. when a guy goes more than 3 or 4 games without throwing a pick, that's a remarkable accomplishment. it took denard 3 games for it to happen. youre acting like that proves umass had something figured out. that couldn't possibly be less true. it was a perfectly normal occurrence in the context of a season. period.

So grow up
torongo69 1 year ago
@torongo69 "even if it converted those 3 picks would've still been short of our score."
WRONG... math is hard hu?
"I love how you get totally defensive when MSU clearly was the better team."
The 3 turnovers killed us. This offense is too young and inexperienced to be able to function at its optimal level when down by multiple scores. They go away from the run and make more mistakes. Turning the ball over caused them to lose. MSU's defense didn't force those picks. They were gifts.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 1 year ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM No bud, as a business management major math really isn't an issue for me. Two of the picks were in the endzone, accounting for 14 points and the point spread was 17, even if you would've gotten conversions you still would've been short. And concerning your offense... it hadn't played a real defense all season! States defense was ranked 41st when we played, and Michigan hadn't faced a defense below 60th all season. Our pressure forced your team to play poorly.
torongo69 1 year ago
@torongo69 2 picks in the endzone + 1 field goal = 17 points taken from Michigan's score that MSU isn't responsible for at all. That's not even counting the third pick. Fuck off douche bag. Michigan handed you the W. Everyone knows it. Only mindless Spartans would believe that their team is so great that they conquered the beast of Michigan football that went 5-7 last year. Again... fuck off douche bag. You're dumb as rocks.

Everyone wanted to go to the midwest "Harvard" Not anymore. Ppl have realized how arrogant you are. Little sister and brother? That is the most pathetic thing i have ever heard in my life. 1,100 days and counting, LITTLE SISTER
cousins851 1 year ago
Pound green pound. MSU's running game just punished Michigan throughout. Michigan's defensive line played well for most of the game (Mike Martin is a player) but got wore down in the 2nd half, and that secondary is just total garbage.
Thanks for posting - great Spartan win in all three phases of the game. This game was no fluke, no last second plays, no officiating controversies, just a convincing pounding of Michigan on their home field. Hope you guys beat Iowa on Saturday though.
JDHornski 1 year ago
@JDHornski "This game was no fluke"
Denard Robinson had a terrible game. His level of play had absolutely nothing to do with the Spartans. MSU did a good job stopping him on the run. That is all the credit they get. Those interceptions were entirely Denard's fault and relatively zero credit should be given to the MSU defense (open receivers, pass was thrown to MSU). Likewise, there were a BUNCH of dropped passes that are very uncharacteristic of these wide receivers, again not MSU.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 1 year ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM HAHAHA whatever you say buddy. Did you ever think that the reason why Denard threw 3 picks in this game after he had thrown 1 in 5 games might be because he was facing a good defense? The whole plan was to contain Denard's running game and make him beat us in the air on a short field (red zone) and it worked perfectly. He is not a great passer obviously. Go ahead and be in denial though - I'm sure Clayborn and the Hawkeyes will just let Denard run all over them.
JDHornski 1 year ago
@JDHornski On all three of those picks (except maybe the last one) the defense was completely out of position and the wide receiver was wide open in the endzone. Denard simply misthrew the ball. Was it due to good defense? Absolutely not.
"The whole plan was to contain Denard's running game"
Did I not give MSU credit for that? Learn to read moron.
"He is not a great passer"
His passer rating is one of the best in the league idiot. He had a bad day.
You are the one in denial.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 1 year ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM You're the one with the reading problem. I know you gave us credit for stopping the run, but that was the point - if you stop the run he is forced to pass. Our secondary did a great job in coverage and making plays on those 3rd and long passing situations. MSU held UM to 2-11 (18%) on third down, and 0-6 (0%) on third downs of longer than four. Coming into the game, UM was 30-61 (49%) on third down.
JDHornski 1 year ago
@JDHornski "if you stop the run he is forced to pass."

MrThatswhatshesaid12 1 year ago
@MrThatswhatshesaid12 "You would have to use an exceedingly liberal interpretation of a team beating itself to say that Michigan beat itself"
You're exceedingly stupid. The guy threw three interceptions while having wide receivers WIDE OPEN on all three plays. Michigan's receivers had more dropped passes than I have ever seen Michigan receivers drop in my LIFE. Two of the three picks were IN THE RED ZONE.
By your logic, Michigan didn't beat itself against OSU either
ThoseWhoStayUofM 1 year ago

HE HAD ONE OF THE BEST PASSER RATINGS IN ALL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL GOING INTO THAT GAME!!! You have got to be an idiot. Shut up troll.
"a defense that can't tackle"
We should have won despite our defense. No excuses for them. Did I mention them? No.
"you simply have to start giving credit MSU"
No... because that defense couldn't tackle ANYONE before MSU!!! The defense wasn't a variable. It's a constant!
ThoseWhoStayUofM 1 year ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM did you seriously just freaking say you should have won a game you lost by 17 points?
bbbeaverboys 1 year ago
@bbbeaverboys Michigan was undefeated going into the MSU game. If Michigan did all the things they had done up until that game, they should have won. This is fact by definition. Don't take my words out of context and PAY ATTENTION.
Michigan's defense played NO DIFFERENT from past weeks. This means they weren't a contributing factor to the lose. The only variables that changed were on the offensive side of the ball. If our offense produced like they had in the past, we would have won.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 1 year ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM UM means 'um, we lost' , and then lost again this week, and so on, etc...... I think MSU's defense had a hand in your offense being a little "off" - it seems when you play good teams like MSU or Iowa , you can't handle the pressure and speed - you just don't have the talent, end of story. keep you chin up, there is always hockey season

@occlude32 "UM means 'um, we lost'"

The talent is fine. We are just very young still. Our senior class is very small (Lloyd Carr) and we still have a lot of experience to gain, especially defensively.
You're an idiot.

@ThoseWhoStayUofM It is far easier to say that MSU could have scored another couple TDs if they hadn't started killing the clock in the 3rd Q., but I haven't entertained many hypotheticals, the game was a one sided affair.
MrThatswhatshesaid12 1 year ago
@MrThatswhatshesaid12
ThoseWhoStayUofM 1 year ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM I disagree. Denard was a turnover machine. To me that's not leaving points on the field, that's sucking...balls.
MrThatswhatshesaid12 6 months ago

Eagle027 4 months ago
@Eagle027 What? Are you saying that Badger fans think that Wisconsin played to their potential against MSU last year? Nice joke. That Wisconsin team was far and away superior to Michigan State last year, despite losing to them. I mean, James White averaged 9.8 yards per carry against MSU... yet somehow Wisconsin still found a way to lose that game. If that game was played in Madison, it would have been a Wisconsin victory. 9 times out of 10, that game is a Wisconsin victory in East Lansing.

Better teams win no matter what the setting or in what stadium. Maybe, you just don't understand the game of football as well as you think.
Eagle027 4 months ago
@Eagle027 "Coulda woulda and shoulda are meaningless terms for losers like you."
This statement is nonsensical. Why would coulda woulda shoulda be meaningless terms? Maybe the fact that they aren't actually words... so you're taking a literal approach? No normally functioning individual could make sense of this statement. What's your point? Like I already said, you're an idiot.
"Better teams win no matter what the setting or in what stadium."
That is just factually inaccurate.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 4 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Just because in your world you create fantasies that your teams actually mean something, doesn't make it so. Paper doesn't determine the outcome of a football game performance does.
The better team always wins.
Eagle027 4 months ago
@Eagle027 What? The better team does not always win. That's absurd. If this were true, then why do some teams win four out of five games during a seven game playoff series? What happened in the one game where the team that won the series lost to the team that lost the series? If the better team always wins, i really question your definition of "better". If "the better team" means, "the winning team" then your statement is a meaningless tautology. You're just dumb... plain and simple.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 4 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM I really don't care about your lame excuses. The better team always wins. If a team loses, they were not the better team. You're just looking for excuses, to explain a bad performence. Fours years running beating Michigan and now two years running beating Wisconsin, Michigan State was clearing the better team. They won. Even though they are hurting this year, the Buckeyes should be the better team during the Game. Last seven years the Bucks were the better team.
Eagle027 4 months ago
@Eagle027 When somebody debunks a claim that you made, that's not "looking for excuses". That's you getting your ass handed to you in a debate. Seriously... you're the dumbest person on the planet.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 4 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM You debunked it only in your own little fantasy world. If you want dumbest person, look into a mirror. Why do you midwesterners delude yourself into thinking you really matter? If the team was better why did they lose? Are you one of those idiots who blames the refs when your team kicks their asses kicked? Last year OSU won their Bowl game, who else did, I guess they weren't the better team in your eyes.
Eagle027 4 months ago
@Eagle027 "You debunked it only in your own little fantasy world."
In logic, a counterexample proves the falsity of a universal quantification. You claimed that, for all games played, the better team wins. I provided a counterexample to that claim. In a seven game series, a team often loses 1, 2, or even 3 games to a team that they are better than. The better team may even lose the series in rare cases.
Under your claim, there should be an undefeated team in every Superbowl. Idiot.
ThoseWhoStayUofM 4 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM Idiot, if they were the better team they would have won on the day they played. You make no sense. You only use your little worthless theories to justify in your tiny mind when your team loses.
In your seven game series, the day that team lost, they weren't better, which is why they lost. Your worthless paper stats mean nothing, the only thing that counts is performance while playing on any particular day.
Eagle027 4 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@Eagle027 "In your seven game series, the day that team lost, they weren't better, which is why they lost."
How absurd!
ThoseWhoStayUofM 4 months ago
@ThoseWhoStayUofM You asshole keep claiming Michigan has the best football program in the Big Ten, bases on hundred year old stats. Eagle027 4 months ago

@smiller108 I never said I'm a Spartan fan. I only said Michigan are not the team its supporters claim they are.
Evidently since you are defending Michigan, something no Spartan would ever do, shut the fuck up. You got made, deal with it.
