  • the 2003-2009 (Japan) 2004-present (China) Toyota Prius was/is assembled in

    Tsutsumi, Japan

    Kariya, Aichi, Japan

Changchun, Jilin, China (Chinese domestic market only)

  • Gay car

  • I would love to have a 2008 Prius! I think I will add it to my Dream Board and wish list!

  • i want a prius so bad! I want to get rid of my vw beetle

  • Hmm the legacy of the mustang...several women and 16 year olds driving the v6 model, causing these to plague the road by being every other car you see

  • There's a handy storage accessory for this Prius that fits between the front seats. Just google The Car Cubby.

  • piece of shit.

  • google toyota deaths

  • Do all Prius come with a GPS?

  • @0NeedHelp No and I dont think that one has one. They all have those screens but not all have nav.

  • lol he aint working that facial hair lol.....

  • i would soo rather have a nice chevy camaro ss .....

  • buy a diesel car, much more eficient than a prius. a 1600cc diesel will do 50mpg in the town and 70mpg on the motorway. 0-60mpg in 10s and 120mph. Why didn't toyota combine a diesel with electric motor! Maybe they knew it was a waste of time as they wouldn't need the motor.

  • the prius takes more fuel than an bmw m3 . watch?v=dKTOyiKLARk

  • @bro589 Not true. My prius is getting around 54-58 mps. M3s don't come close.

  • @yoyofanatic lol. does your prius drive like an m3? didnt think so. when you drive both the same, the m3 will use less fuel

  • you're stupid, ignorant and racist, I'm not even asian. Anyway, you're pathetic!

  • I have an Aveo LS which works superb but my daddy is selling it in a while, and I love TOYOTA cars no matter what I think they are just above excellent for a normal person that is mid class! Hope iGet A PRIUS!!!

    I Love Coupes and Hybrids!

  • I truly appreciate the technology and love the concept but until these manufacturers stop making these hybrids look like something my daughter would play with up and down the driveway then i'd buy one... until then ill stick with my truck.

  • I want this car really badly but I dont want to risk it being dangerous or something.. Something like the floormats getting jammed into the accelerator pedal? I don't know anything about cars or Toyota or anything but i really like this car! Someone help!

  • @JessicaA39 I have a Prius since 2005 and I love it, I've never had a problem of any kind. That floormat scandal was B.S. Trust me, I've driven my car over 100K miles from FL to NY back and forth and never had a single issue, don't believe the news or people who want to give green cars a bad name, they're ignorant. Just go test drive one and you will in love with the Prius, just like me. ;)

  • @JessicaA39 buy a chevy..

  • The thing is toyota has admitted it has problems, almost all its products are involved with issues, some quite serious, going back to 1998, and certainly the worse part is that toyota intentionally kept these issues from its customers,in effect making suckers of its customers and continuing the myth of no defects

  • Buy a Ford Fusion hybrid, its twice the car, better quality and will stop when you expect it too.

  • oh, great call! fords are amazing cars, beloved all throughout the flyover states. definitely the classiest ride in the trailer park. american cars are shit. period.

  • @durrset2

skinny little fags like you love your skinny jeans and your imports.

Your car is shit dude. And you're blogging weak metro ass looks like a fag in it

  • @Headshot426 and 2 years later your Ford will stop completely...FORD=FOUND ON ROAD DEAD. XD

  • @himster22 you're just another gook promoting the colony.

  • @himster22 lol good one faggot fords the shit

  • if the car cost less then 15,000 i would consider it, as i only spend less then $1000 on gas so if i would rather buy a 10,000 car and replace it after five years other wise i dont actually save any thing.

if i were to pay $21000 i would want a better quality car.

  • Price will keep going down as the technology gets more popular. In your situation it doesn't make much sence to buy one now, maybe a used one?

  • not necessarily.

It could very well drop but popularity doesnt always reduce the cost. If the process to make one is complicated the drop could be very minimal.

it is still a prius and the issue is with the quality of the car, the older ones are far worst.

it still isnt going to save me much, my car is paid off buying another one just means i have to spend more money and if we are talking about being green and such, then keeping the old rather then replacing it is preferable.

  • toyota prius is a piece of shit

  • @th3ha1og0d You seem to be afraid of new technology, so is my grandma!

  • I bought a new Toyota Pruis in 2005. It's an excellent car with ZERO negative issues. I got the HOV lane stickers and all the options. It gets great fuel mileage and drives well.

Consumer reports rated the 2005 prius the best in it's class and that's why I bought it. Before my Toyota I had bought a new 2002 Honda Accord V6 because consumer reports rated it the best. It was the perfect car. Honda rules!~

When Ford or Chevy proves they can make the best cars I will consider buying one.

  • Im a Ford, and Toyota guy and I want an F150 but im going to go with the prius because it has the best gas milage

  • @whelenvortexr4 gee a purpose built gas sipper gets better gas mileage than the best 1/2 ton truck ever made? can the prius tow 11000lbs?

  • we are getting a apple red prius

  • forget the prius, get a Volkswagen TDI diesel

  • TRUE THAT!! vw get just as good as mileage and they are 20X more fun to drive!

  • People get the Prius mainly because they love it. The shape, the style, the luxuries, everything. Only celebrities get it for showing off how much they care about the planet.

It's not about common sense. It's about how much you care about the planet, your wallet, and most of all, what kind of car you like. You know, come to think of it, it is kinda like common sense actually.

  • well the prius isnt what id call stylish

and the trunk fits no more than 2 suitcases

and the honda IMO handles better

the prius is of course not a btter car, but for the bang-for-your-buck, there are better choices out there

  • whats sad is the prius does more damage to our enviroment than helping it hahahaha do some research on how it is built pretty sad if you read it

  • google "prius myth" pretty sad for your untrue claims that it's bad for the environment if you read it hahahahahaha. LMAO

  • nickel mines exist yes. toyota purchases it yes. did the mine clean up and reforest the area yes. just cause a nickel mine makes everything look pretty by putting trees back in doesnt mean there isnt pollution. toyota purchases a good amount of nickel. i believe ur a hybrid owner cause i see how anal you go about the comment that you had the need to caps lock LMAO? well good luck on ur purchase im sure ur helping our pollution rate? prius owners are snobby wait thats a myth to

  • Toyota purchases 1% of the amount of nickel from the mine every year. 1% is a good amount? lol, do your research, please. Stainless steel companies are what buy most of the nickel in the mine, don't blame Toyota for something that's barely its fault.

"nickel mines exist yes. toyota purchases it yes."

From what you typed, it sounds like Toyota purchases nickel mines. Hate to break it to you but it purchases the nickel from the mines, not the mines themselves.

  • do u analyze what one percent of there nickel means do u know how many pounds of that crap is 1 percent you sir are a fukin idiot and did u just not notice i put "it" on my sentence can your brain not analyze what i mean damn you are slow lets end this right now since you think toyota purchases mines good day sir !! and dont try to be smart ass it jsut makes u look fukin stupid peace ! and love!

  • @chud89 Yea i hear that on top gear the batteries are terriable

  • if you chose the VW Diesel, i promise you that you'll get more standard features than you would with the prius..

  • youd save more moeny buying a 351M ford truck than paying that kinda money a month for car payments!

  • what is the worst thing about this car like maintainance

  • What are you talking about maitenence? Something breaks on it, you junk it. New cars arn't salvagable. I have a 1968 Ford Mustang, if something breaks on it, I buy a new one. But with new cars with all the sophisticated computers and such, you can't repair them. I don't care if a Prius gets 50MPG, I don't care if it gets 100MPG I'll always drive my car that gets 12MPG.

  • wonder how this car would compare in performance with my 454 chevy pickup?

  • who cares?

  • dorkiest car ever!

  • What makes you say that?

The fact your OLD and know NOTHING about this car?

  • old? i'm 30 and look at it! again look at it!

  • see, 30, lol OLD

and you didn't say you did know anything about it....

  • you're*

  • oops, thanks

  • Comment removed

  • and they marked me down for it!?! what a joke

  • You people are retarded.

Batteries last typically 150K miles and Toyota sells their replacement batteries for 2,000 dollars. But Toyota you a $200 "rebate" on the old ones so you only pay $1800 really.

The Prius is a good car and only people who are crapped up with loving gas guzzlers would deny that the Prius is a break through in technology

  • actually, the Prius' batteries are $1500 installed.

Also, they don't last 150,000 miles....in some states thats the warranty period. Less then 4% of all Prius' have had a battery replaced. Most out of warranty have been very high mileage taxi's. Such as 300,000 and even 500,000 miles. Doing nothing to them but the oil, tires and the rare brake job.

  • Well, it depends on how much you drive the hybrid.

If you don't drive it 3 years, the battery is going to fail.

  • Any battery would be like that though.

Who wouldn't drive their car for 3 years?

  • i don't know what's so fun about gas guzzlers? So ok.. They are fast and loud? That's it what's so fun about it? I don't think we should be looking for fun when it comes to transportation. But more like trying to save money, impact the environment less, and etc.

  • battery will last 200,000 miles plus and thats a fact. ill have my for about 120,000 and get a new one.

  • All the money you saved with gas would be wasted on hybrid battery.

  • the good thing about the prius is it keeps it price even after a couple years

  • The Electric and Hybrid cars are the future !! With hydrogen run cars after 2030 ! If the hydrogen stations are built !

  • You can make your car a hybrid by learning how to convert it to run on water at: thegas4free.blogspot,com

  • We are having this car. It´s verry good car.

  • I am leasing a prius, which saves me 100 euro's (120 dollars) per month. It is comfortable, spacey and very quiet. Very relaxing car to drive.

A hybrid car is a compromise this moment to carefully guide us into new-thinking. Our grand-children will laugh about the combustion engine when they see it in a museum. What they will think is why a lot of people would not get rid of this noisy, stinking, polluting, very old fashioned engine :D

People, stop being conservative and start thinking ;-)

  • @sawyerrogier thats not how everyone thinks about a combustion engine, some people think they sound great there is nothing to me that can beat the sound ov a bigblock v8 with a nice cam and exaughst on it. its not that old fashoned either and its not any less efficient, especially when you can get 20+ mpg out of a deisal engine in a 3/4 ton pick up truck. and beside hybrids still have combustion engines too hence the name "hybrid"

  • @sawyerrogier Wow dude people like you should be erased.

  • i have never drived electric powered car i wonder how it feels

  • people who will buy this shit are totally insane!

    prius...insight...ugly like shit!

the ugliest "cars" of the world.

I really wonder if the hollywood producer will be so brave to put these shit in their movies!!!

USA is recognized worldwide for big cars, muscle cars,limousine,off-road veichles....now the America highways and freeways are full of cars lookin like condoms!

  • The prius seems to be such a touchy subject. I can't help but notice that there are people who really like the car and people who really despise it. In the end its just a car, I myself love it because its my first car and it has been good to me.

I think the toyota prius is great. I'll write you an essay if you'd like. Of course I wouldn't put all pros and no cons in it ^^

  • What cover up? How paranoid are you?

  • what cover up??? did you even read what I wrote? get off the "Toyota is great" Bandwagon and research it yourself. Toyota is marketing a car that really isnt that cost friendly or environment. Maybe you should do your research before calling people names.

  • The Prius is built in a ZERO landfill factory, it is 95% recycleable, it's a super ultra ow emission vehicle, it costs the same as a moderately equiped 4 cylinder Camry, it is moveing into it's third generation (even better than ever!), and by the way... no one has more hands-on experience with hybrid technology than me, so don't tell me to do my research!

  • vraiment moche

  • better if equipped with ultra capacitor. it would revolutionize hhybrid

  • it is ugly but hey if you wanna save money just shut up and get one

  • All as the Toyota engineers quietly test a fleet of diesel hybrids in northern Japan.

Their second devastating wave is coming.

  • The "Costly Battery" is not one battery but over 242 D sized batteries. It is designed to run even if a dozen or so fail. My 2002 with over 129,000 miles has never been in the shop. Only oil and tire changes, the breaks are still original. How many batteries have you thrown in the landfill? Mine all still in the car. My 2007 Prius averages 49 MPG.

  • The Prius is an overrated car. Its not good for the environment when you consider the battery pack which will not last forever (all batteries fail eventually) and it cant be reused. The old batteries end up in Landfills.

  • yeah overated when it gets 20 mpg better that chevy's best hybrid.

  • i thought the batteries were recycled when they were replaced.

  • No those batteries go to landfills. But Toyota will never tell you that. Batteries do not last forever.

  • The batteries are recycled when and if they need to be!

  • You keep thinking that. Toyota has succesfully brainwashed America into thinking the Prius is good for the environment. You know the mining which is necessary for all that Nickel has to be shipped by boat to Europe for processing, then shipped again to Japan where the batteries are produced. Talk about green Thinking.

  • Shipped back to japan? But the batteries along with the Prius is built now in the U.S.

How old is you're info anyway?

  • why do american auto programmes always have an annoying backing track? i don't get it. and, secondly, switch to bloody METRIC, will ya ;)

  • that back bar really creates a bad blind spot...

  • Prius 2 millions units sold!!!! Gmc hibrids,,,,,, 70.000!!! lol

    Toyota NUMBER 1!!!!! GMC number 2!! =[

Toyota 3 brands and hold most of the market,,,

GMC 7!!!! 7 BRANDS aND CANT EVEN GET ON TOP! =[

No more to say, the people has spoken, number talk by themself.

toyota is outdoing the competition, other companies like Gmc are playing CATCH UP!

  • i love the back lights :)

  • THIS CAR OWNS

  • i get the hybris thing, but if it was only a pretty car, c mon toyota ive seen u make so many beter looking cars than that trash prius.

  • It was made to be aerodynamic, not pretty. but enyway, its a charming car, and i love to drive it.

  • I just love people saying Prius is a car to hate. I hope they drive some big SUV and burn their pockets. Prius is the best car you will ever drive. GM and FORD are doomed. Chrysler is dead. All hail Toyota.

  • better yet drive a van down the street instead of walking

  • yeah except u forgot that honda is better than toyota =P

  • Well... NO! Toyota is the most selling car company on the earth. so.. that will make Toyota the best.

  • well yeah but just because they sell the most doesnt mean their the best. If you look at the reviews for 2008, you see that toyota has slipped a bit, and honda is #1 for 2008 ;)

  • well. Honda isnt in top 5. and i dont know if they even are in top 10 of the most selling car companies.

  • well you would be VERY mistaken then....I think you should do some research.

  • Last years most selling carmanufactors:

GM 9 million + (Chevrolet, Chrysler, Opel and so on.)

Toyota 9 million + (Even without the Lexus!)

VW. (without Bugatti, Seat and so on) 5 million.

    Ford. 4 million.

    Fiat. 3 million.

there you got your top 5 over most selling car manufactors.

But GM got 5-7 car manufactors on last years list, and they only beaten Toyota with 30.000 cars. which car would you say is biggest when?

  • u just made that up dude honda sucks i hate toyota but there still untouchable

  • well it just shows your very ignorant. Consumer reports named Honda the best car company for 2008. Do the research! jeez im not going to argue with you if your so closeminded!!

  • why dont YOU do some research and tell me how many other websites/companies named toyota best car company for 2008 or any other year. i dunno maybe its just a coincidence that toyota keeps outselling honda year after year after year!

  • This car is everywhere...I'd rather walk.

  • How come amricans can't create cars like this?

    Answer : americans are stupppppiiiiiiidddddd

  • iv been seeing a lot of these running around, but man, there to small, they say they have a lot of room, but still, i hat small cars, sorry!

  • Camry hybrid, and highlander hybrid are big.

  • what?? small??? its a size as a Corolla. and a Corolla is a medium/big size car.

  • I fucking love this car its so cute, techy, fun, cheap, and good for the environment!

  • He didn't drive it so that we couldn't see it does not accelerates at all.

  • Ekhm, without that "s". I'm an analphabète :-\

  • Well I'm sure it accelerates, or I don't think it would be able to move, and would therefore not even be a vehicle. You didn't do very well in physics class did you? :P

All sarcasm aside, a 0-60 of about 10 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h is plenty. It even leaves room for the occasional illegal speeding if you so desire.

  • Yeah, I know, I was just annoying others.

Hybrids, particularly plug-in ones with extended electrical range covering most people daily drives (~80 km) to/from work/town/malls/schools will rule the market.

These will allow to run most miles on electicity saving fuel, slashing urban polution. Long distances? On tank.

Next-gen plug-in Prius is said to achieve 100 MPG. So does the OEMtek modified current Prius.

Meanwhile, gas-guzzler drivers will dump crap into trousers at the pump.

  • Agreed. Hopefully though they will get the marketing right and inform people that the only reason plug-ins get such high gas mileages is because it is expected to run just on electricity for a while before having the gas engine kick in. Gas mileages can range from similar to an non plug-in Prius for someone going cross-country on the highway, to infinity for those just calmly commuting to work and back. It really is a versatile option! I am glad these ideas are finally being implemented.

  • Regarding the crapping in trousers at the pump, let's look at it optimistically. The laundromat industry will at least benefit from the gas guzzlers in that case. :P

  • its accelerating really fast! 400nm from the electric engine all the time, and 139 horsepowers from both engines. and its an automatic, so its accualy fast compared to Honda Accords, Mazda 6´s and Toyota Avensis.

  • SectF1:

    > its accelerating really fast! 400nm from the electric engine all the time, and 139 horsepowers from both engines. and its an automatic, so its accualy fast compared to Honda Accords, Mazda 6´s and Toyota Avensis.

Yes, I know, small engine is used for crusing only and both engines coupled for quick acceleration.

These are only petrolhead wanksters who don't get it and dream about a big farting engine.

  • Theannoyingdogpoo:

agree, but my attention was to tell that its economical, and when you drive it hard (wich not economical), its accually quick.

  • my mom is getting one because we have toyota FJ cruiser

    and eats alot of gas.

so we might be getting this in a month or so.

  • Wait for the 2009.

    Will have 100 MPG!

  • thanks i forgot about that

    but when in 2009

  • They say the 2009 model it will be available either in Q3 or Q4 2008, maybe pushed back into early 2009.

  • I'm picking mine up tomorrow!

  • i want one!

  • I highly recommend it. It's like a computer on wheels. Very cool technology inside the Prius. Excellent handling (has a sporty feel to it) and very comfortable interior with plenty of space. Oh yeah...and 50MPG!!

  • I think im going to get the 09 model i hope its a plug in they are the way to go im so sick of all this gas crisis!

  • my ulcle is getting one

  • I live in ILLINOIS 2

  • i really think that a turbo injected v6 HYBRID powered mustang, comaro, and challenger would sell and still be cool. i also think it would convinse people to buy hybrids and AMERICAN muscle cars. think about it. right now the only big hybrid automakers out their are toyota and ford. and the big selling model is the prius. now if so many people are buying a car that look dino-shit just because it has 65 or so mpg, think about how many people would buy the mustang and so forth.

  • there's a turbo injected v6 hybrid mustang?

  • Uhh... the MPG would go way down. Mustang materials are heavier and usually not as aerodynamic, on top of that V6 engines and turbo engines use more gas than conventional engines. And one last thing, although the current generation of the Toyota Prius is manufactured in Japan, it's been rumored that the 2009 -2010 redesign will move assembly to the United States mainly due to the struggling economy. But in all honesty if that could be a reality with over 65 MPG, count me in.

  • I love my Prius, I have driven a lot of cars, prestige to economy class cars and the Prius is definitely in a class of its own.

  • I own a Lexus LS 600hl also a hybrid. Does not offer great mileage though

  • i lvoe the look but i like the camry's better

  • Aerodymanic? Relibility?

  • A real man doesn't need a truck to prove his manhood. Go Hybrid!!

  • Here are the facts... Toyota Prius CVT 48/45 $21,100 Nissan Altima CVT 23/31 $20,180 Honda Accord Automatic 21/31 $20,360 Toyota Camry Automatic 22/31 $18,720 Hyundai Sonata Automatic 21/30 $17,670 Dodge Avenger Automatic 21/30 $19,280 Ford Fusion Automatic 20/28 $18,010 Mitsubishi Galant Automatic 20/27 $21,099 Subaru Legacy Automatic 20/27 $20,795 Pontiac Grand Prix Automatic 18/28 $22,960 Double the Fuel Economy. Virtually the same price. Better Equipped. Prius for LIFE!
  • With 4-5 dollar gas this summer, I'm really considering trading in my manhood for a Prius.

  • LMAO! thats fkn funny dude :D

  • Yeah, or you can buy a 95 Civic for $3-5K and still get 35MPG... certainly not as safe. But if you are trying to save money. Buy used, and save the interest you pay the bank. If you are trying to save the planet from "global warming" then buy a Prius. I am not bashing this car it is a very nice car. But spending $20K on a car is not saving money.

  • The Civic does not compare to the Prius. The one I rented, I drove around 750 miles on 15 gallons of gas. At $3.25 a gallon I spent almost $50 in gas. Not bad at all.

  • you forgot the honda civic hybrid dude!

  • 95% of todays cars can not even get close to 30 mpg. Everyone should demand more hybrids. Love my prius...

  • I rented a Prius when I was in Florida. I loved it. Never have I been in a car that was so, so quiet, especially in EV mode. So sad, when I had to turn it back in. It cost me more than I ever paid for a rental, but it was worth it. I will have one of my own soon, I hope.

  • did you consider the Maintainance on the Costly Battery that Will need to be replaced since no battery lasts forever. which is around 6 to 7,000 bux?? It totally negates the fuel savings for the Hybrid.

  • The battery isnt that much.

  • There not??? how much were you quoted for a battery. Even at $4000 that is still $4000 more than a conventional non Hybrid car.

  • the battery is warranted for 100K miles. Unless you drive a hell of a lot you'll won't be buying new batteries.

  • 100k is nothing. but if something happens after the 100k miles and that battery needs replacing expect to pay out the waazoo for a replacement which negates the Fuel savings you would get.

  • Mine has 207,000km's on it. It's better now than ever! There is no problem at all with the batteries. Weak arguement buddy.

  • They will die though, All batteries whether they be rechargeable AA's or hybrid batteries will fail. that is just a Fact. Batteries do not last forever.

  • You mean there's a part on my car that won't last forever? Wow you're smart!

  • im guessing your not realizing what the whole point of my battery argument. A. to replace these batteries are very expensive. So that savings you get on Fuel will be lost towards the price of the battery. B. Because of the Manufacturing process of the battery, it is not so environmentally friendly as you would think. A hybrid making on average 50mpg isnt worth the extra price for a hybrid. Diesels that are already available in Europe are already doing 80MPG at a cheaper cost to the customer

  • This synergy drive concept has given Toyota the means to invest in better hybrid technologies. Lithium batteries will now be the storage source of the next generation of hybrids. Toyota has chosen the gas engines over Diesels because Diesels run so dirty. The prius is a super ultra low emissions vehicle, however, Toyota is now testing HUNDREDS of diesel hybrids in northern Japan. Synergy drive can be applied to any drive system. Battery costs are dropping fast too as production steps up.

  • Eventually things will improve. Newer Deisels run much cleaner than in the past. I think the Idea of a Hybrid is great. but the MPG's to price ratio is does would not justify a purchase. When they start surpassing Diesels as far as MPG's at a lower cost to the consumer, then I would consider a look at a hybrid.

  • What about diesel hybrids then? You'll be first in line for one once Toyota brings them to market? Or will you vocally protest them when the price comes in slightly higher than a standard diesel? Is Toyota not allowed to make money on their wise investments? Perhaps you'd be happier if they ran their company as the American "big three" have... into the ground!
