I agree with you. However: we do have a choice on how we deal with our consequences, too. And I do not necessarily mean abortion specifically. If I have a car accident, I can start crying, panicking, and asking why this happened to me. Or I can stay calm, and try to fix the situation to the best of my ability. Or ask someone else to fix it. Or walk away, and never drive again. My course of action will be determined by my character and my upbringing.

We are not passive bystanders in our life.

stay calm, yes. it is never good to be passive when we are faced with responsibility--especially in relation to our own mistakes. if what caused the "accident" was engaging the car in something it was not designed to do (like jump a bridge or drive 200 mph) the best course of action is to wisely consider what it was made for and choose to never drive without those boundaries again. and if the consequences require "fixing"--choose carefully what the manufacturer would advise!

though promoted as an STD preventative, a condom does not protect against HPV (which leads to cervical cancer, which kills nearly 5,000 women in the US annually). without 100% consistency, condom use, according to the CDC is nearly useless. consider this: the "era of contraceptive use" has actually caused the increase of sexual activity outside of a marriage commitment, STD's, and abortion. i would have to say those sad statistics do not convince me that ANY quality of life has improved!

In fact, getting born is very unhealthy: it leads to death in 100 ´of the cases. Life is risk. And it's up to us to make a calculated risk.

As for STD: Not a new phenomenon. AIDS is new, but things like syphilis have been around for centuries, well documented (and in those days, often lethal). Sex outside marriage, same thing, has been practiced forever (ex. courtesans) At some point at the French court if was common to invite both the spouse & the lover to event. Abortion? Documented since ancient times. Nothing new under the sun. Fortunately, now we have better doctors & ssafer procedures.
