Thank you sooooo much! This technique is awesome! I just tried it out and after months of studying anatomy my figures haven't looked better than they do now. I'm still learning but I'm definitely going to keep working with this technique, it's really useful and easy to use. Thanks again!
And i closed the video. After 10 days thinking i decided :
- I Should try it :D
And i tried. I never sketch poses after this. it's was first time then i draw poses. AND I LIKE IT :DD. everything fine, it's not hard, but i don't image how i sketch if not you ! Thank you so much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)) Have a nice day :).
wow I'm still learning of the anatomy of bodies of male and females, I Just don't know what to use though stick figures or gesture drawing, which is better?
I can't explain how helpful this video is. I have had a hard time with gestures for a while now but this is a great way to streamline the process. Thanks!
This is an awesome technique for beginners such as myself to use. feels like I have a better understanding of body proportions after seeing this video; good stuff man, keep up the good work.=)
Omg this system works so well, i kinda took it in my own direction. I took a bunch of figure drawing classes and i have the knowledge of what things look like and where they should go, my problem was finding a way to incorporate it all. THANK YOU BIG TIME. Also you guys should check out Andrew Loomis, learning the figure from inside out is easier in my opinion when it comes to drawing the figure from the mind.
Wow, dont mean to mindlessly praise without saying anything relevant but seriously; wow. The proportions are excellent and the way you draw makes it easy to grasp certain concepts. though i'm still unable to draw at your level ^^;. anyway thanks a million \o
wow....your method works so good for me !!! i can draw all your poses easily!!! its simple yet the eye enjoys it!!! thanks post more :D great workouts!!
@poessofietje When you see a female student in your class, pretend to drop a pen in front of her, then when shes not looking pull off her shoes and socks and start rubbing her barefeet like a maddog =o She'll be surprised by it but she'll blush =o
This really makes me think. Maybe i'm just trying too hard to make my lines perfectly shaped and smooth. Maybe i should just try a more free style approach and be more jagged with the lines like this video. Love this video i'm so trying it :D
thanx 4 all videos you post, they are very useful for me, even if i don't know draw at all thanks to you I have a little bit of skill drawing... and i started to like drawing :D
I've been seriously drawing for a dozen years and am even now nearing the end of my Master's in Illustration.....all I can say is that this is brilliant work. Well done.
I can barely understand the information that those lightning bolts give. This technique seems so effective, although its too early for me to understand it i guess :( Awesome tutorial though. It will help me in the future :)
We're all artists; we're all learning from our mistakes with every single stroke of the pencil; we always want to be better. You must have gone through each and every single trial an artist has ever encountered to have become this good. My question is, what gave you the confidence to teach and inspire other artists? =)
Your technique is amazing. I've been using it for three months now and it has completely changed the way I draw. I really appreciate you putting this up. I can now sketch alot faster with far more realistic proportions than I used to be able to.
I liked it! And I have some questions...Is this video speeded up? Were you using references to draw them? Amazing technique, I'll surely try this sometime!
Amazing technique with the 'lightning bolts' you can kinda see the limbs in 3d also helps you judge a proper standing posture for your figure , can you quickly draw a toilet underneath the last figure.
It may have not made my drawings better in quality, per se, but it definitely boosted my drawing speed. I'm extremely grateful for that. It saves me a lot of time as i don't have to be as cautious, considering how smooth and intuitive this approach is, without losing much accuracy, if any. Thanks a lot:)
It's working out great for my guys, but for some reason I can't get my girls to look like girls :(. I keep drawing them too broad, and when I make them skinnier I lose all the life in the pose.
I really appreciate the fact that you have made this video. As an artist, I try so hard to figure out how I can better myself. This video helped me with my skeletal figures and also improved a bit with my anatomy.
Thank you very much for your tutorials. Please, make more. :)
Excellent process. I was wondering why the zigzag shapes were there at first but now I'm definitely going to try the "lightening bolt" technique. I've been looking for a good way to lay down a guide to muscle placement when sketching and this looks like what I need.
You certainly have a unique way of starting a drawing. That's probably the key to remembering the basics - invent your own sketching techniques, instead of copying someone else's.
Very helpful, thank you for sharing! Could this also be applied in perspective? E.g. Action poses, were the head and torso is closer to the viewer than the bottom half the body. c:
Geez, your technique is amazing! I am wondering about one thing though; how much does foreshortening affect your method for structuring? It seems like it would complicate it a bit. (or not, it could only be in my case) I was just wondering that if it does change your method, how so?
quick question can you do a voice over instead of little annotations because its kinda hard to read and watch you draw, but if its too much of a hassle then i'lll just use Pause more often
wowie, wow, WOW! i used this technique twice, and my drawing has already improved! lol my mom even commented on how much more proportionate my drawings look. it is very useful and i thank you ever so much for putting this video up. :)
I love to draw and I am having a difficult time with drawing angles of the body. Can you please help? My drawing teacher wants me to take AP Studio Art next year and your techniques could really help. I love to draw people but drawing them three dimensional is very hard. Your one of my drawing idols Sycra!
I love your method with the lightning bolts, drawing from exterior to interior in one single line. If your drawing is off, it's just one line to modify!

In my art klass the teachers always tell us how to do it, I always try their way of drawing but I prefer my way, because it is my personal way and I understand it very well, also when perhaps nobody else understands it ^^"
