  • Thank you sooooo much! This technique is awesome! I just tried it out and after months of studying anatomy my figures haven't looked better than they do now. I'm still learning but I'm definitely going to keep working with this technique, it's really useful and easy to use. Thanks again!

  • The "lightning bolt" technique is pretty interesting.

  • Oh my God, you help me a lot. Thanks ;)

  • Mother of god (guy taking off his glasses)

  • sir, you just got yourself a desciple!

  • This is a really cool technique, can I ask is it a slight adaptation of the Reilly technique of drawing? Quite interesting, thanks

  • nice vid, keep it up !

  • thanx man poses are a pain for me and you just made it a heck of a lot easier, really appreciate it,

  • Amazing technic

  • At first the i saw this video i thought:

    - Not bad..

And i closed the video. After 10 days thinking i decided :

    - I Should try it :D

And i tried. I never sketch poses after this. it's was first time then i draw poses. AND I LIKE IT :DD. everything fine, it's not hard, but i don't image how i sketch if not you ! Thank you so much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)) Have a nice day :).

  • genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gracias por tu vídeo..... me encanta!!

  • is it good to study anatomy or trying to build figures using this kind of sketchin directly?

  • wow I'm still learning of the anatomy of bodies of male and females, I Just don't know what to use though stick figures or gesture drawing, which is better?

  • You're good. Well done.

  • i need to practice this so badly. thanks!

  • and you are absolutely right about fake boobs)

  • *plugging in tablet*

  • wow!! REALLY COOL!!

  • I can't explain how helpful this video is. I have had a hard time with gestures for a while now but this is a great way to streamline the process. Thanks!

  • youre a fucking genius... but seems pretty complicated to me :/ i hate my style :D

  • your methode to scetch the human body is great !!!^^

But really.... next time you should take another song ^^

  • This is an awesome technique for beginners such as myself to use. feels like I have a better understanding of body proportions after seeing this video; good stuff man, keep up the good work.=)

  • what is the name of this soundtrack? or where is it from? it sounds so cool :)

  • Just the video i needed! thanks!

  • 7:24 TAAAAAAAAANK!

  • muuuuuuito bom!

  • Omg this system works so well, i kinda took it in my own direction. I took a bunch of figure drawing classes and i have the knowledge of what things look like and where they should go, my problem was finding a way to incorporate it all. THANK YOU BIG TIME. Also you guys should check out Andrew Loomis, learning the figure from inside out is easier in my opinion when it comes to drawing the figure from the mind.

  • Your technique is really helpful. But you make it look so easy haha

  • I will definitely give this a try

  • So gooooooooood.

  • This is absolutely helpfull. I really appreciate it, thank you!

  • wooww. This is awesome. I've learned how to gesture draw and most of the muscular structure. I'll have to try this method. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • You're not the only one who thing fake boobs are hideous.

  • Wow, dont mean to mindlessly praise without saying anything relevant but seriously; wow. The proportions are excellent and the way you draw makes it easy to grasp certain concepts. though i'm still unable to draw at your level ^^;. anyway thanks a million \o

  • very good!

  • my poses always look out of balance.

  • wow....your method works so good for me !!! i can draw all your poses easily!!! its simple yet the eye enjoys it!!! thanks post more :D great workouts!!

  • interesting way.... o_o

  • I like this method. I use this method for my students. It works quite well to help them to draw movement, direction and unity. Thanks for your video.

  • @poessofietje When you see a female student in your class, pretend to drop a pen in front of her, then when shes not looking pull off her shoes and socks and start rubbing her barefeet like a maddog =o She'll be surprised by it but she'll blush =o

  • This really makes me think. Maybe i'm just trying too hard to make my lines perfectly shaped and smooth. Maybe i should just try a more free style approach and be more jagged with the lines like this video. Love this video i'm so trying it :D

  • you've helped me so much, thank you :D....

  • what program are you using

  • wow... that's amazing!

  • nice O_O

  • 8:30 tittys!!

  • you remind me how much i actually need to work on my poses ^^

    Awesome dude!

  • thanx 4 all videos you post, they are very useful for me, even if i don't know draw at all thanks to you I have a little bit of skill drawing... and i started to like drawing :D

  • thanks this helped me a lot

  • WOW great vid it really helped me improving my draw skills

now its much easier for me to bring on paper what is in my mind

  • I hate that your video's discourage me! I just need to be more diligent!

  • thank you man !! AWESOME !!!

  • you are "awesome"!!! ...nuff said!!!!

  • Cheers for the video, Worked a treat

  • This was very helpful. Thanks for this!

  • awesome i love your technique thank you very much is this real time or have you sped it up at all?

  • awesome i love your technique thank you very much

  • Similar to a technique I've been using, although I imagine them as hangers or hooks instead of lightning bolts.

  • I've been seriously drawing for a dozen years and am even now nearing the end of my Master's in Illustration.....all I can say is that this is brilliant work. Well done.

  • and from now i call you my GURU..!!

  • Thanks! This has made my life so much easier. This technique is amazing.

  • I can barely understand the information that those lightning bolts give. This technique seems so effective, although its too early for me to understand it i guess :( Awesome tutorial though. It will help me in the future :)

  • amazing! Your draw style also looks like mine

  • Your videos have changed my life.

  • Weird technique. The proof is in the pudding. Well done dude!

  • We're all artists; we're all learning from our mistakes with every single stroke of the pencil; we always want to be better. You must have gone through each and every single trial an artist has ever encountered to have become this good. My question is, what gave you the confidence to teach and inspire other artists? =)

  • really weird music but wow man thats a great skeleton!

  • you are a lot betterthan mark crilley. in skill and making tutorials.

  • haha i LOVE the lightning bolt tech its perfect cheers

  • Your technique is amazing. I've been using it for three months now and it has completely changed the way I draw. I really appreciate you putting this up. I can now sketch alot faster with far more realistic proportions than I used to be able to.

    Thanks again! <3

  • 6:56 Henn Henn Small Head. But , I Subbed Super Helpful . (:

  • That was super helpful.SUB

  • I liked it! And I have some questions...Is this video speeded up? Were you using references to draw them? Amazing technique, I'll surely try this sometime!

  • fake boobs are ugly,lolz

  • I like this Musik :D And your drawing style :D

  • Amazing technique with the 'lightning bolts' you can kinda see the limbs in 3d also helps you judge a proper standing posture for your figure , can you quickly draw a toilet underneath the last figure.

  • I like that! Very good technique!

  • BTW... I have sketchbook pro too and love it!

But I like ArtRage a little better!

  • thank you for your videos!

  • It may have not made my drawings better in quality, per se, but it definitely boosted my drawing speed. I'm extremely grateful for that. It saves me a lot of time as i don't have to be as cautious, considering how smooth and intuitive this approach is, without losing much accuracy, if any. Thanks a lot:)

  • i kept falling asleep because of the music lol but other than that kool vid keep up the good work!

  • wow thanks alot your sketching helped me alot

  • very helpfull, love your syyle thank you for posting this this up.

  • music is nightmare fuel tbhh.

  • this is the effect of adrenaline

  • this is the effect of adrenaline

  • It's working out great for my guys, but for some reason I can't get my girls to look like girls :(. I keep drawing them too broad, and when I make them skinnier I lose all the life in the pose.

  • great tutorial, creepy music lol it really helped though

  • are you using a light pen?

  • awesomeness

  • I really appreciate the fact that you have made this video. As an artist, I try so hard to figure out how I can better myself. This video helped me with my skeletal figures and also improved a bit with my anatomy.

Thank you very much for your tutorials. Please, make more. :)

  • Excellent process. I was wondering why the zigzag shapes were there at first but now I'm definitely going to try the "lightening bolt" technique. I've been looking for a good way to lay down a guide to muscle placement when sketching and this looks like what I need.

  • yehey

  • I don't know...this seems too...'slow' for the fbf process of animation.

  • dude.. this is amazing! hectic technique

  • Okay man, I got my Bammes anatomy and doing my own sketches now :-)

    Good video!!!

  • You certainly have a unique way of starting a drawing. That's probably the key to remembering the basics - invent your own sketching techniques, instead of copying someone else's.

  • the music made me sleepy -_-

  • Awesome work!!

  • you make it look so friggin easy!

  • love your style of drawing

  • very thoroughly informative, Subscribed!!

  • Wow your technique is amazing!

  • your quite talented, wish i was able to draw the figure like yourself hopefully i've picked up some good tips :D

  • Amazing.. I cannot draw women.. Horrors!

  • Wow, amazing...

  • Thank you! Awesome instructor!

  • Thx! This "lightning bolts" suits perfect. You made my day :)

  • Pro music!

  • amazing work.

  • Very helpful, thank you for sharing! Could this also be applied in perspective? E.g. Action poses, were the head and torso is closer to the viewer than the bottom half the body. c:

  • Geez, your technique is amazing! I am wondering about one thing though; how much does foreshortening affect your method for structuring? It seems like it would complicate it a bit. (or not, it could only be in my case) I was just wondering that if it does change your method, how so?

  • very nice job

  • wow man this helps alot with fluidity of poses

quick question can you do a voice over instead of little annotations because its kinda hard to read and watch you draw, but if its too much of a hassle then i'lll just use Pause more often

  • wowie, wow, WOW! i used this technique twice, and my drawing has already improved! lol my mom even commented on how much more proportionate my drawings look. it is very useful and i thank you ever so much for putting this video up. :)

  • 7:30 I like the added smile =)

  • Thank you very much, more videos about poses please!!!!

  • you should a tutorial on how to draw sketches but with clothes, you know the ragged lines and how it would look

  • wow you're very talented, im a huge fan

  • "Lightening bolts"... very interesting.

I'll give this method a try. You're trained as an animator, aren't you?

  • I find this video very frustrating O.o I'm trying to replicate but it looks like crap >_>

  • This is really different from the way I do it. This way seems hard, but very effective

  • I love to draw and I am having a difficult time with drawing angles of the body. Can you please help? My drawing teacher wants me to take AP Studio Art next year and your techniques could really help. I love to draw people but drawing them three dimensional is very hard. Your one of my drawing idols Sycra!

  • wao amazing

  • I love your method with the lightning bolts, drawing from exterior to interior in one single line. If your drawing is off, it's just one line to modify!

  • wow you are so good

  • I never seen this huge demostration of drawins congratulatios, from Mexico I.m a anatomy teacher.

  • Thx! Your videos are very helpful!

  • As always very inspiring. going to start drawing again.

  • love the two last sketches!!!

  • Hmm, lightning bolts :gets out sketch pad:

  • omg your so awesome and inspirational i love art,i love drawing not as good yet but you keep me going thank you.

  • I think that you can learn in a professional way, how you SHOULD draw it, but afterwards you're going to do it like your way. In my art klass the teachers always tell us how to do it, I always try their way of drawing but I prefer my way, because it is my personal way and I understand it very well, also when perhaps nobody else understands it ^^"

  • i like ur style hehehe and am gonna use it from now on... u used to start with a stick figure, this is mush better ;) thanx

  • Nice video, you make it look so easy. :D

  • This is great, thanks.

  • great gestures

  • Well done! Keep at it. : )

  • Absolut amazing. Great, thanx for sharing.

  • what program are you useing for this and how much does it cast PLEASE RELPY

  • @jpodejko It's in video description under Tools.

  • @Sycra thank you :D

  • @Sycra yea but how much does it cost?

  • @Sycra

But wait, do you use a mouse? Or do you have like a pad...

  • @corotor12345

    Check the video description.

He's using a Wacom Intuos pad.

  • @jpodejko

I got my copy of the Autodesk Sketchbook pro for free when I bought "Learning Autodesk Maya 8|Foundation +DVD" ; it is still available through Amazon, you might check it out. It might save you a few bucks.

  • Are his videos in real time? More specifically is this video in real time?

  • This is essentially the same way I do it. The one thing I don't understand about your process is the purpose for the diagonal lines at the joints. If you could explain that to me, I'd be grateful. :)

  • @PachucoDesigns

Just a way to specify where the joints are without lifting the pen I guess. It's faster.

  • @PachucoDesigns Have you heard of the opposite 'C' technique in drawing? It helps with rhythm in your drawings. Basically, this is a modified version of that. The reason it's connected is to save time and also, I find it's easier to maintain the correct distance by having the line there. So actually the lines are not the bones, but the surface of the muscles. This way you get the structure and rhythm all in one!

  • @Sycra Impressive, and very intersting. I will have to keep that in mind for future drawings.

  • Interesting. I'm going to have to get used to that. It seems very effective.

  • @Sycra Clever

  • @Sycra what's the opposite C technique?

  • my oh my, i just cant stop watching your geniouslike sketching!

  • wow ... that is so cool how you get the shapes when your just sketching out the lines, and I like how you use that v shape when your doing the arm or legs. I think I just found an easier way to do anatomy thanks to you. look forward to more art from you.

  • I love the last one

  • That was amazing to watch, i am ok at drawing anatomy but i always seem to mess up my proportions once i break away from the norm, im deffinitely going to watch this again and copy down some of your techniques thanks :)

  • Being an art student who has sucked at anatomy, this is VERY helpful. Growing up surrounded by anime and manga, my take on anatomy has been distorted. But this helps me understand it just a little better. I always love watching your vids. And, being a girl, I approve on your stance on fake boobs. Thank you for that as well :)

  • you have a great understanding of the human body, plus it helps u can draw. always good

  • I think one of my biggest drawing problems has just been solves. I never though to draw arms and legs like that!

    Thank yooooou~~

  • hear like phantasy star online music ;D

  • omg..you are so awesome...you rock ....dude ..i love all your vids...and all of them halp me a lot...becouse i buy a bambo/o tablet and i want to learn to draw whit it..

    thanks

  • Fuckin awesome!

At first, I was like, what the fuck is he doing, but than I saw it all come along just so nicely and I was like whoa! this is badass.

Ill definitely be applying this method of drawing from now on.

    :)

    Thanks a million man

  • beautiful video, my problem is I like so much female anatomy that I almost never practice with males sketch U.U

  • Very nice, thank you so much!

  • Inspiring, as always.

  • you draw the forearms way bigger then the bizeps/trizeps...which is not very realitic but the rest looks pretty fine

  • @PenSpinningBios if you look at your arm (put it straight infront of you with palm facing up) the top part is quite thin compared to your forearm...

  • Could you do one on foreshortening? Thats whats seriously kicking my ass. :p

  • awesome video! thanks a lot

  • amazing

  • this is really helpfull im only 13 and i enjoy drawing human animal figures, this will enhance my drawing capabilities by a Million!!!
