  • shut the fuck up u pussys. its just good. i fuck to this

  • i played this song at my wedding a few years ago : )

would you be so amazing as to post 'Psalm' ; my favorite song by him and one of my favorite songs of all time.

  • @jumblequeen On to it, no problem!

  • so so so amazing ..rock on m ward

  • M. WARD is INDIE! indie is the universal genre i believe. if it even is a genre. ...XP

  • @abbyrod13 It's not a genre, it's just a way of production. I'm not sure what I would classify him as, but not indie because it's not a genre. He's pretty Bluegrassy with some soulful country rock. Thats how I would describe it and I'm sure tons of people will get mad at me for trying, BUT WHO CARES.

  • @jldkrank Isnt he folk? A monster of folk...? But youre right, who cares. His genre is Genius.

  • @johnhughes1977 He was in monsters of folk with Conor oberst and that lot.

  • ''This guy sounds like a less talented M. Ward!

    (Yes that's a complement)''

My comment on a John Johnson video.

  • ..Is better off without Zooey Deschanel. <3

  • @nickiejonas7 100% agree, she ruins it for me.

  • @nickiejonas7 I disagree, although I love his single stuff I also LOVE zoey. I don't think that anybody can say that any piece of music compares with his solo stuff but I I were to find someone that could then it would be she and him :)

  • That one person who disliked, GO DIE.

    ;)

  • I found out that you can play this song with only one guitar. The strumming part and the lead.

  • Has M. Ward ever produced a bad song?

    Serious question.

  • The only thing wrong with this song is the spelling of the title.

  • @mrbemorris What's wrong with the spelling? Color can be spelled two ways, color and colour.

  • @indierockrules The Oxford English Dictionary would disagree with you there, I'm afraid.

  • This is a song of joy and, why, why i ask, why, do people have to make such rude and rash disitions in life. its wonderful to hear a song that can set a man free from his heart and injoy the life as it was once sapose to be.....ooop the song stoped... hehe makes you right such amazing things :D

  • was listening to this song tonight and watching the weather out my window, and I could swear the snow was falling and blowing to the rhythm of it...:)

  • lovely comment

    :)

  • the weight is a gift...or vise-versa...

  • some one has got to cover this and tab it out note for note

  • can't seem to get tired of this song. masterpiece level work, here.

  • I assumed he already has a fishing pole because he asked for the TAB, implying some level of proficiency. I usually think of TABS as note for note transcriptions of hard songs for intermediate players. If he had asked for the CHORDS, I would know he is a beginner and happily supply them (in this case G, C, D, Am)

  • does anybody has the tabs from this song?

  • I wish to has them also.. haha

  • I could send you the TAB, but as they say, "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. TAB it out yourself. listen and copy. it's a fairly simple song. I figured it out (including the tricky bit) in five minutes, and I am a very amateur player. And you will feel empowered to continue on to work out more difficult songs.

    Good luck.

  • How very smug of you

  • Don't even try. This guy is too good haha. Just play it by ear.

  • Is that 2 guitars or on in the very beginning?

  • 2. One guitar strumming and one guitar picking.

  • lol there is tappin too yea fool

  • can somebody please send me this song? :)

  • I'm new to this band. anyone want to recommend me their most folkish-countryish album?

  • `transfiguration of vincent', `transistor', and i think this song is taken from `end of amnesia' which i haven't heard, but if this song is any indication, i need to get it soon. `postwar' is good also, but poppier than this....

please buy something to support this phenomenal artist....his music is brilliance is the face of so much banality...

going to see him at the 40-watt in athens,ga and i can't wait for this audio-manna............nectar for my ears:)

  • check out Langhorne Slim - definitely worth while - Elliott Smith - not country or folk - but godlike - just explore

  • cowboy junkies, the trinity sessions

  • not really a band...just a guy....M.Ward is his name...pick up ANYTHING he has done...you can't go wrong...

  • very nick drakeish

  • uhhhh, no not very nick drake-ish you idiot.

  • Favorite M. Ward song.

  • close second to Psalm off EA.

i love the simplicity and the way it builds.

  • Yeah?

What do you think of his new stuff? I like it, but I must say I was pretty disappointed. I guess Hold Time is just a little too happy lol

Post War, End of Amnesia, and Transfiguration are...great.

  • Transistor Radio is one of my favorite albums of all time.

from what i've heard HT is very poppy and accessible. nothin wrong with that but the reason i love his other albums is the lo-fi, time-soaked quality and melancholic timelessness of his music and voice. the new one still retro but in a dated, more labored way. also i'm not a fan of zooey. this could all change once i buy the album and let it sink in...

  • Yeah definitely very accessible. I know all the lyrics to it already just because it's so damn catchy. I'm in love with Zooey Daschnel, just not as a singer haha.

Yeah if you like that lo-fi type stuff, TR is a good album. I like it too, I just think the other albums I mentioned before are his most artistically fulfilling.

  • Check out some more songs he has great lyrics. For example Aint no reason.

  • Check out brett dennen, Mason jennings,

Bright eyes-When the presidents talks to god. GREAT SONG!

  • I love that song When the President Talks to God..it's great and i love bright eyes. Never heard of brett dennen but will now check him out. Thanks :)

  • ya you can scratch bret dennen, he has some of the worst lyrics I have ever heard

  • fraz is fuckin right wtf is this modded down for

  • Agreed.

  • "M WARD is uniquely talented and is creatively - a 1,000 miles ahead of Jack Johnson and most of the better known male artists in this genre of music! He seems to traverse between 'country', folk, hawaian, the blues, rock and pop, and 'americana', and it's hard to really

tie him down to 'a specific genre'! He has a

good knack for combining diverse melodic colors and patterns that one doesn't normally

hear 'singer songwriters' do, and there are always delicious surprises jumping out at you"!

  • @bonecrusher303

You can't compare Jack and M Ward. Jack is more surf and beachy. There is nothing wrong with that and his lyrics are wonderful. M Ward is more indie than Jack. They are both great. Enjoy all music.

  • well said gelbe22!!! nice one.

  • does anyone have the tabs for this song? i love it

  • totally agreed.

  • I hate to put any musicians down, as anyone who gives it their best should be commended, but any time someone says about M Ward 'hey, who's this guy? He sounds like Jack Johnson!' it makes me want to karate chop their face off.

  • I couldn't agree more

  • @gelbe22 jack johnson is only fit to suck m. ward's dick. lol

  • @gelbe22 Judo chop!!!!

  • i love M ward!!! does any one know more artist like him? :D

  • Reminds me a little of Richard Hawley...

  • andrew bird, the shins

  • yeah...andrew bird is beyond excellent. mysterious production of eggs is probably one of the most unique, revolutionary albums i have ever heard.

  • check out sh and him .. it a band with him and zooey

  • bright eyes, sufjan stevens, elliott smith (but, considering you listen to m. ward, i'm pretty sure you might be a fan of those three already...)

  • U need to add Nick Drake to the list. =D

  • and nick jonas omgsh1!!!

  • M. Ward is better than Jack Johnson in just about any and every way I can think of.

He's a better songwriter (more variation and better arrangements), is a far better guitarist than him (both technically and emotively) and is more than a one-trick pony.

Also, he knows more than the same three barre chords, which automatically puts him a head above Jack Johnson.

  • good insight. never cared much for jack johnson, so i couldn't really compare the two.

but yes, m ward is amazing.

i love the timelessness of his music and his voice. it's hard to pinpoint his age/ era of his music. he seems like a really humble, down-to-earth and genuine guy too. which is really sexy.

not to mention he does some killer covers, some which surpass the original(let's dance comes to mind). i've listened to him non-stop for the past 2 years. i find his music really comforting.

  • Have you heard his cover of Daniel Johnston's "Story of an Artist"?

I really like the original (don't really know why; it's just very poignant), but M. Ward's version is amazing.

  • I don't know why he's very common with people. I ask everybody at school if they know who he is, but they all say no.

He's better than Jack Johnson i think!

  • m. ward is the most awe inspiring creative song writer/singer the world has ever been blessed with. He is living proof that all men are not created equal. by the way, all peoples souls are of equal value but mosty definitely not thier intellects and talents

  • Somthing about his music just seams to make me want to increase my imagination, It's just great stuff honestlly. :3
