andy was overtime artist and his art has strong position in development
of art. he was sort of pioneer. Wat,s wrong when somebody wants other people feel good? By the way his look was an image but behind it is a good person. By the way Andy was helping in church where his mother used to go...he used to sit in back of the church listening the sermons. The priest of this church said that.
@TheThorsgirl But Andy was such a bitch to Edie Sedgewick. He completely used her. And when she died he was told later on by someone and he said, 'edie who?'. He used everybody like props. @EscapeNewJersey Dude.. Get your facts straight, that was a rumor. "Andy Warhol" was just a character that Warhol used in public appearances. He was nothing like that in private..
@SoulEaterEthan Yes, I'm sure he would not give his painting away for free. He sure didn't live like a true communist. Ofcourse, leaders of communist regimes never live like communists. Just look at Kim Jong Il of North Korea!!
@EscapeNewJersey Before making your points about someone, try to at least READ about him and get to KNOW about him first. Andy Warhol was this "persona" created for public, not the REAL Andy for intimates.
You should start reading more and researching. Talking before really knowing is for losers with low IQ. Pre-judgement.
Hey, did you know theres a retrospective of Nat Finkelsteins work from 20th Jan - 14th Feb at a gallery in London called IDEA GENERATION. He documented Warhols Factory in the 60's. You should check it out! :-)
He was a genious, by this I don't mean he had a big IQ as he didn't, but he changed the way of thinking of many people, something MANY people will never achieve.
To "understand" Warhol you have to read at least one of his books. He was caught up in a goofy time but not a goofy man at all. VERY intelligent and insightful but you must read his ideas.

He was wise enough to be able to make a joke of the whole economical system and make a living out of the simplest things.

Sorry to disappoint you, but that´s a total myth; he never got tested, so nobody can possibly know his "IQ", which leads me to my second point. IQ tests are garbage, highly subjective and they usually measure only certain areas of intelligence. Psychologists are still debating about the definition of "intelligence", don´t even talk about measuring it.

They are. And that´s not my opinion, it´s a fact. Perhaps you could tell me why they aren´t subjective, instead of attacking me. I can tell you that Alfred Binet himself didn´t believe that a test could measure intelligence. That IQ tests, usually, measure logic, mathematical ability, and abstract intelligence (or at least, they try to do that), while they don´t consider verbal ability or creativity.
Seriously, do your research. There are books about it, articles. A high score on an IQ test doesn´t mean that you are intelligent, it means that you´re good at resolving IQ tests. Which is why, if you have a good ability for, let´s say, maths (which is related to logic) then it´s pretty obvious that you will have a higher score than one who doesn´t (but who could be a musical genius instead).

Yes ... and you'd wish that there was... what? Of course: Money for the few and the priviledged. Which is what the right-wing has always stood for: Priviledge and elitist oligarchies.
his voice is very nonchalant. i love it. in the movie factory girl.. his character said the coolest phrase ever..your the boss applesauce. i mean he seems like the type of person who would say that.
he was not dumb, he knew the purpose of every single thing that came out of his mouth. his focus was on the repetition and communication of images, he knew the affect his lifestyle and ways had on people
maybe that he was aware of that, but I mean that he was not smart about conversations, he seems to be shy, dumb, out of his mind. His IQ was only 86 !!

I don't think Andy Warhol ever made any serious political stance. I think the closest he came was to emphasize that he liked the democratic nature of US society, which is in line with the "money for everyone" statement.
He once said that the great thing about the US is that the upper class consume the same products as the lower class. We all drink Coke, for example. That's what he liked about Pop culture, that it unites us all.
I find it a bit sad that big companies control us like that. Even though we all consume the same product, there are still different classes where people still look down on their inferiors.
If ANdy would be a beter president than Nixon, we would have to ask if Nixon was a bad president. Most American governments of conservative which is bad in most ways for society.
I guess you can look at things from many different angles. I'm just pointing out that this is the angle from which he looked at Pop Culture. He was, after all, a Pop Artist. And I read an interview where he said that Pop Art is naive. I mean, he once said, "I think everyone should like everyone."
In his Diaries, Andy openly states several times that he is a Democrat, although he never voted. Close friends of his such as Chris Makos have also stated on various occasions that Andy was very much a fan of the Democratic party (though he had friends and co-workers on each end of the political spectrum).
Also, it is always good to bear in mind that Andy Warhol was very much a character that Andrew Warhola played. Don't take what he said in interviews or his Philosophy book too seriously.
Aw, Andy Warhol was so adorable. And here he is in his Diaries complaining about sounding "stupid", but really he was very, very personable and sweet and hey, why not have money for everybody? Why not have carpet on the streets? If he were still with us, I'd be all for Warhol 4 Prez, for real.
I never liked him, because everyone liked him. This is the 1st time ive seen him but i really do like him, that shows YOU how fuked up WE are! Now U cant tell ME how fkd up I am, cause I said it 1st!
