The people who have guns would run the show as far as securing food or protecting what food you already have. I see nothing wrong with teaching a kid (obviously at an age where they could comprehend exactly what a gun is capable of) how to operate, maintain and safely use a firearm. Especially when it could very well one day be used to save their life. A lot of people laugh about that, but it could happen one day and a gun and it's ammunition have multiple uses besides killing other human being
That's why responsible parents teach their children about gun safety and they keep the weapons away from the children. My dad has kept guns in the house since I was born. I'm 22 now and there have been zero accidents as far as guns are concerned in my house or while hunting. This is because gun safety was taught and stressed when I was young. Guns are also a tool used to secure food as well as to protect yourself. You should try taking your skirt off, and realize if the economy collapsed, that

@plitas Not only in America.... We teach them to shoot right... other countries like Afgan, Iraq, etc teach them to kill people... and strap bombs to them selves....
@joshuaclaygaines Oh, that's great! Good for you, son, for supporting kids with weapons ;) "There you go, Jimmy, that's called a shotgun and will provide you decades of fun and violence. Now come on, I'll teach how to properly shoot someone's brains out in case you're being followed after robbing a bank..."
@plitas A gun is a tool. A hammer is a tool. If you have a hammer, it doesn't mean that you will build a house. If you have a gun, it doesn't mean you will kill someone. Infact, you can kill someone with a hammer. And you can hold a gun to someone's head and force them to build you a house. That's called critical thinking. You should try it.
@plitas she didnt teach them about robbing a bank she taught them about self defense and youre an idiot if you think guns kill people hell if guns kill people i can blame mispelling words on my pencil
@sasuke343 There's something called martial arts, I don't know if something like that exists in your world. They're taught in order for people to learn self defense without having to kill a human being. Before calling someone an idiot (specially online cause I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have the balls to call it in my face or in any other person's for that matter) think about what you're going to say. Your argument of self defense is completely trashed in this case.
@plitas Martial arts isnt gonna help much if someone is in your face with a colt .45 and i know wat youre about to say guns kill people no people kill people. hell i can kill you with a rock a stick or a broken whisky bottle if we got rid of guns we would find other ways to kill each other
@sasuke343 True, but the odds of being killed by a rock, a stick or a broken whisky bottle are extremely small when compared to the speed of a bullet. We can defend ourselves from all those things so much easier than from a gun. No one can stop a bullet. Again, that self defence argument is not doing it. Kids with guns? Seriously? There's a reason the 16/18th birthday line exists, accidents happen when kids and guns are mixed, its not news, and then the kids are not to be blamed...

@MutsuKazuma I have been to more colleges then you can imagine. I made a living supplying them. What I see is spoiled little kids that never did a hard day’s work in their lives so don't tell me what I know. Most self made men never went to college; college never teaches anyone how to survive in the real world. It just teaches people how to be argent and helps them think that they are better than other. Does the shoe fit?
@MutsuKazuma No I am not a y-tube warrior- just a realist that does not look to others for what I can do for myself and one is getting a job and being a productive member of society. One thing I am waiting for; you so say something intelligent... warrior!!
@barstoolguru I agre, and we as people take a lot of things for granted. Have you heard of a show called the colony? Now that's a real good survival show (even as good as Dual Survival). It's when 10 strangers have to live together, and (not only survive) but live after a natural desaster has happened. So they go from survival to actually living, and using their time working on the 5 basic survival things. Season 1 is the best. Look it up on Youtube.
@Shaereub I love that show (the colony) but I just feel like it’s fixed a little. They are too balanced on the type of people they have but it is a great show of how people can survive with little or nothing and how hard it is going to be without all the things we take for granted. FYI season 1 was on Netflix so if any one missed it check it out, good stuff
@barstoolguru If you say it's fixed, then you might as well Dual Survival is fixed. I saw The Colony, Season 1 this year on Netflicts (which is how I found out about the show). What's really a bummer is that it doesn't have Season 2. :( Oh Well.
@Shaereub Yes the colony is fixed in a way that it is produced and to achieve the highest ratings. You see no people with a missing limb, blind, overweight or uneducated. Go to Wal-Mart and look around because those people are the ones that are going to be with you in a real disaster. You might get lucky to get a mathematician or mechanical engineer or even better yet a doctor but chances are people with less survival skills then you are going to cling on for a better chance to live.
@barstoolguru you wouldn't need someone with a PHD to help you. Just someone who can lend a hand. People (no matter what job they have) can work as a team if at least one person knows what to do. The more people you have working on somthing, the faster a job gets done.
@Shaereub You really don’t believe that do you? If you want to survive your chances are better with people that have skills and not a bunch of no-nothings that have to have their hand held every time something needs to be done. I have worked with people like that and let me tell you nothing gets done in a timely manner. Man has not survived for 6000 years because the stupid hung around the smart. The meek will not last
@barstoolguru Yeah, I guess your right. Here's some Questions for you. Would you survive the Aftermath of a deasastor? How long do you think you would last? If you could choose, what type of people would you have? I would personally pick a Doctor/Nurse, a Machanic/ handy man, an engienear, and a marshal arts body instructor. The Colony Season 1 has some people in that catagorey.
Good stuff to live by. One thing we learned about occupied Wall Street that Americans are raising pussys that think they need everything handed to them because they went to collage
I think woman in this video is "TOO MUCH...", people have to face fact that for some things you wouldn't be ready, for example: even if they have 4 guns, they wouldn't protect their houses from 4 gang members with 4 guns. If there would be chemical weapon they wouldn't last for one month... Cody is a survivalist, and that woman is simply paranoiac
@APCPscorp Do they not? And here I thought I was being all manly just sitting around judging books by their covers... Oh well, time to give that up and go put on my short shorts and paint pretty pictures on my house.
@heysmithy I am a 25 year undefeated muay thai kickboxer... we wear short shorts. I dont paint pretty pictures unless you consider blood on canvas but I think any one doing what they are comfortable doing and doing it well is plenty manly. Cheers...
@carismatic10111 Everyone should teach there kids how to shoot a gun. I would rather have my kid know about and respect a gun just like my dad did me rather than them know nothing about them.
@IowaHunter641 I know you are not asking me. But I see nothing wrong with it at all. If life in America becomes really poor, we'll need to know how to hunt our own food. And knowing how to shoot a gun and respect it, just gives them one more way to hunt.
No matter, nothing lasts forever, even with knowledge Cody has made the point many times...surviving is no way to die. With 400,000,000 (that's million) people in the USA alone...consider if there where 40,000,000 deer to hunt...that is one deer for every 10 people, Deer won't last long would it. Texas has one long drought and has the concern they will not be able to populate the cow herds in a few more months ...it will be mind blowing when SHTF! This video is an example of sustained comfort.
@revolverrodger What he ment was giving kids guns but not letting them watch TV or play video games is a bad idea, and really speeking as someone who lives in a place where you dont have a right to own a gun I can say there not nessasary. shes teaching her kids to fire at a human target oh and by the way Cody lundins manly and has never shot a gun in his life guns are bad when used like that because they are being used to kill humans.
This is what i need to do, but the bad thing about the recession is you have NO JOBs to get the adequate amount of MONEY to prepare. The sad thing about this is i may not have the money to prepare but have the will. I have family members that have jobs, and when i tell them to prepare they look at me like i am crazy.
Keep it up bro, I am a desert survival expert as well, love your shows, love your books, love your attitude. Self-reliance may come into play sooner than we all would like because of oil, economy, all of the disasters lately, etc. but of course you know that which is why you've been off the grid. ;) I was watching some alien invasion movie the other day and I told my woman "The only guy that would be safe in this situation would be Cody... lol". :)
@ruleof3survival - I'll have to check that out, makes sense to me anyway that's my favorite number for a reason :) Don't forget Boleadoras, they use 3 weights most of the time ;)
Cody! Hey brother--it's Jeff Rowe from Prescott College. Remember our hitchhiking trip to BOSS? I still have an image of you pulling that giant, glistening rainbow trout out from that desert stream. I've been tracking you over the years abodudeman...I'm right there with you in spirit.
She might want to spend less time stockpiling guns and cans of Spam and more time on her family's physical conditioning....look like typical American couch potatoes to me...
hey man i am an avid outdoors-man i hunt trap and fish i love primitive skills kinda like you i am pretty sure i could provide for my family ps your awesome
i dont like the way they have the lady talking about guns and then cut to Cody saying thats the essence of beeing selfreliant. i dont think thats what he was talking about.
@maethorize True, a bolt action rifle is not an ideal self defence weapon but it's better than having no weapon at all. Some people think that a mean looking dog is good enough for defending their home. Haha, Yeah right! In short, it really doesn't matter what gun you have, Just have a gun!
The family in this vid. is how most ppl think of ''self reliant'' and I totally disagree with it . They are STILL depending on what they get from the grocery store . IMO true self reliance is knowing how to grow your own food , store your own food and live with out the intervention of wal-mart . Sure haveing food stocked up is not a bad thing , but when its gone , its gone . Knowing how to hunt and grow your own food is a MUST and somehthing I live every day .
self-reliance begins with self-maintenance of core temp. Most people can learn and know all kinds of nifty wilderness tricks and tips but if they don't realize that boiling water does not remove chemicals from it then they wouldn't last very long.
This is not 'survival' or even getting ready for a disaster, this woman and her family are buying foods that make sense. People used to live like this back in the 1930-50's, being a little self sufficient, not relying on Government for your every need and having a house that wasnt full of un-necessary items to waste money. Its good to see people coming back around to this 'normal' way of living again.
Video games have taught me a lot and they have encouraged me to actually DO the things I yearn to do when I try to experience a portion of it through PC or Console Games. People play games because they can't do those things in real life. But it does give us a basic crash course on certain things and have taught me about many things in which I have continued to learn through experience in real life. Such as blacksmithing or cooking or whatever. It doesn't make you an expert but its a gateway.
No amount of bleach etc is gonna stop the fall out from japan staying in your water supply etc. So at the end of the day, chill out and what will be will be. Its amusing listening to cody talk about freakin out etc yet he's makin a ton of money from this market. Also what cody doesnt mention in his book is that when the brown stuff hits the fan HE will try to eat you just like anyone else and so will i. We will all be tryin to eat eachother so dont get to pally witht the worship. yum yum
with codys barefootedness, ive been going barefoot as much as i could since i was a kid and im 23 now, i was the nature kid growing up. diggin for fossels since i was gonna find a t rex in my back yard (found shellfish in stone across the street whoot) but i snubbed a cigarette barefooted and didnt even think about it, people were freaking out doesnt that hurt, id have burns, etc etc. i look at them like their nuts, i cant comprehend peoples feet NOT being that tough.
You hear Cody saying in the very begining of this video.....Survival sucks, or is hard! Now if He says that....then that's scary. 90% would be MENTAL.
I think food consumption would be the hardest thing for me to get used to. Not eating whenever I'm hungry, and eating stuff that right now would make me puke. I'm a picky eater ( meaning: I gag easy on stuff that doesn't taste palitable to me). I've lived out of my car years ago for a long while it's just like camping for an extended period of time. So sleeping out doors and all that comes with it wouldn;t be hard for me, it's the finding food and water every day that will make or break you.
from a bass pro shop type of store: All the best stuff; backpack, sleeping bag -20degree's, boots, winter jacket 100mph proof, little coleman cooking pan kit, rain tarp, etc., etc. to just go it on foot if this Nation REALLY GO's SOUTH. This is serious, and this country's outlook doesn't look good. Wake Up people. BE PREPARED and not every have to use it is better than not doing anything and one morning 911 happens on a MUCH BIGGER SCALE.
Fortuniatly I am single; Over the last say year when the U.S. economy went south, and it too crept up on my door step, I started thinking what would I do? I don't make alot of money, just paid off my car (for whatever that's worth), but have been thinking if I lost my little job, and couldn't pay for gas for my car could I just walk away from every comfort we take for granid. I am in the process of buying ALL top quality camping gear. Continued...
3:15 shit gets wierd lol....oh and i like how cody is talking about how your largely screwed if you plan on eating your t-bone steak every night as the woman buys massive amounts of food and no water..have fun dying of dehydration in a pile of food i guess woooooooo
She's got a great sense of suburban preparedness. Not the same as aboriginal skills, but that's fine. Society is much less likely to break down to a point where we all rely on aboriginal skills, but it's pretty likely to kick us in the pants and make us turn to our food/water storage at some point.
Excellent! People should be prepared not because they are afraid, but because they don't want to live in fear. The closer I get to being prepared, the less I have to think about it. I won't have to worry about surviving because I will be living. Great video, Mr. Lundin!
it is always good to see your videos, i have been working on a devise to reduce water waste considerably. when i have this finished and patented i would like to have a word with you.
Cody, I can really do without you bashing America and Americans every chance that you get. It tends to seriously diminish your message when you demean the people you are trying to get the message to!
Cody, I can really do without you bashing America and Americans every chance that you get. It tends to seriously diminish your message when you demean the people you are trying to get the message to!
Explain the european thing? I live over in the uk so would be interested in what you mean? Last time i landed in the usa i got fingered up the but, whilst having to breakdance through an xray machine, dna sample taken, finger prints taken and a tattoo put on my forehead saying 'stranger from outside usa who may be here to harm us all so lets all freak out and make him feel unwelcome' You dont get that in europe my friend. So who's really freakin out? Europe on the whole is chilled.
First off, I watched this on tv and I really enjoyed it, Thanks Cody! Secondly I see a lot of negative comments. I agree that it takes well rounded skills to survive alot of situations however folks do not fall into the drugery of disrespecting someone just because you "think" it will not help them. If folks in N.O. had stocked up they would not have been as taxing. If they had "Cody" skills afterwards they would have been better off as thinkers and doers! It takes both.
Arrogant preppers? Come on, this life style is a learning process. Even veteran preppers are constantly adding to or changing their methods. If I could get my friends and family to even have a three months supply of food and water that would be better than it is now. We need to be supportive and encourage others not criticize them.
Looking forward to seeing more of Cody next year!
Although the woman in this interview may not be prepared for sustainable long term living, she will be better equipped to handle the vast majority of incidents that are likely to occur that could affect services for three days-three months. She'll be better off than 95% of the people out there. I wish more people had her mindset.
She is a typical prepper though. She IS the stereotype. I don't know how many people I have met who consider themselves prepared because they have a basement full of beans & rice and have 10 guns for every person in the house, but they don't know simple things like which direction do storms comes from, where is their nearest source of water without electricity, what diseases insects in their area carry...they are still expecting someone else to take care of them. typical.
How is it that "prepping" was a common way of life for people all over the world when my grandparents were in there youth, but now it is considered to be only for those "wacko survivalists". Here in America, we've become too dependent upon others to rescue, provide or take care of us instead of us taking care of ourselves.
I think his point is that they get scared and worry too much createing a self-destructive mindset. First and possibly the most important thing in survival is keeping ur spirits high. Don't succumb to negativity.
Last night my brother and I talked about the Americans with tons of ammo and guns that is selling out in stores all over the U.S. Apparently in the U.S.10 people die from guns everyday in America and they are often children. BUT,on another note.......would you and I...... do what they are doing to prepare for this GREATEST DEPRESSION or would we leave it to chance and hope for the best ?
Her idea of being self sufficient is obviously flawed...stocking up on food and knowing how to use a gun is NOT self reliance. That is just delaying impending death. Having the type of skills Cody has is self reliance, but I guess what she is doing is pseudo self reliance in suburbia
@jordythebassist what would you do if a natural disaster hit your area? it's not a matter of self reliance in the woods/swamp/jungle/desert/arctic. it's simply a matter of who can survive long enough in the area they live in! the suburbs may not be your ideal place to for self reliance, but it's probably where you live so think twice before you type dumbass comments!
@Killahofosho I think that you should stalk up but what about after food runs out. If you dont have a garden set up then your going to starve. Simple facts.
@jordythebassist Are you kidding me going to work is delaying impending death? My idea of a perfect home is one that is situated with natural waater supply off the path enough bullet proof disaster proof and energy efficient. A MDI dome home could fit that description in the right location. The mind set is self reliance NOT GIVING UP is self reliance so NEVER GIVE UP. Sure we are as free as they let us be they think but they dare not grip us up cause they know USA is not ready for knees yet.USA!
@jordythebassist What the family was doing was exactly what Cody Layed out in his book, That family would be able to survive until the neighbors died, then they could eat the corpses and await rescue. If not they have an edge if they do need to bug out. Do you really need to be so critical? We can't all live in Montana hunting and gathering for our food. In a long term situation Animal Husbandry would be the way to go anyway.
@jordythebassist at least she is doing something. and if more people would do just the little that she has done the world as a whole would be a better place. but you are right its not enough...but is there ever enough?
@jordythebassist her idea may not be perfect, but it is a start. You have to admit that where she is at is much better than where the majority of people in America are at. Food storage is a huge part of being able to survive when the good ole supermarket is out of service. Delaying death is better than simply bowing before it. That delay could be enough to save her and her families lives. Something is better than nothing.
@jordythebassist 95% of everything we do is delaying death. Did you know that 100% of all Americans will die at some point in their life? Look it up.... its true!!!!!
@jordythebassist - while I agree that her ideas might be a bit naive, you have to start somewhere. I owuld rather have someone like her, with a mindset that, while flawed is at least open, rather than the "ultra prepper" who feels they know everything. Give her some credit. Those of us who are of this survival and responsible mindset will never win over people if we degrade them for their limitations and tentative first steps. Encourage, educate and work together!
@jordythebassist Totally agreed; I thought the same thing when looking at that stored food and thought....what happens when her family eats all that food? This is course in a real life when all hell brakes loose situation. What would she do after 3 or 6 months when all her food is GONE! Are we ready to survive without the grocery store, etc., etc.
@jordythebassist maybe she is thinking of surviving in the suberbs since that is where she lives and will be for the immediate future if something bad happens? IF she lives in the woods or near the desolate desert, then its a different story.
@jordythebassist She is the same woman on Nat Geo's Doomsday preppers who was talking about the importance of OP SEC while telling the nation about her stock of food on TV. LOL
The woman is a perfect example of the fear based prepper/survivalist. She is prepping for impending disaster. Cody is living a self sustaining life.
@Jumpybeaver Growing food is self reliance, you can live sustainably on what you harvest. But don't forget everything else you will need; water, shelter etc. So whilst it is an aspect that goes into self reliance, it isn't the entire picture...
@jordythebassist The main problem is. Most Americans, if not nearly all of them don't want to do this. I however do though and am working toward living off the grid and being more self reliant.
@jordythebassist during the depression it was hard to find game 'cause everybody was out there huntin'. the population wasn't as big then. what do you would happen now if a depression hit again? i guess you could eat mushrooms and bugs.....food storage IS self-reliance. learn to do both survival and homesteading and you'll be better off...
Cody Lundin...you have no idea how much I appreciate your spirit, your positive attitude, your originality, and your zest for life. I've truly enjoyed your television show and can't wait for next season.
NOTICE how the editor and/or camera-man chooses to get a close up of the "go away" sign, close up of SPAM and a GIANT bag of beans, and focus on the weapons. Even though they allowed them to speak their piece, I still think the editors were going for and contributing to the stereotypical slightly negative view of people who make common sense preps.
Wow great timing ! My wife and I were watching tonight's airing of Dual Survival ( we recorded it on the first airing but hadn't watched it yet )./ We started looking at the your older videos here. We started talking about prepping around the time of the Dateline ( Desert ) segment, ..we finally got around to it 2 years ago.
Its a shame they waited to lisen till now. 20+ years and still preping! If they had only lived in the wickup for a year they would understand. I would love to see more people go walkabout. Its not about RAMBO. Its about REAL LIFE!
I like this lady and Cody's point of view regarding terrorism/disaster vs the more common mundane troubles like job loss where prepping can really help out.
There are far too many gloom and doom preppers.

It's when 10 strangers have to live together, and (not only survive) but live after a natural desaster has happened. So they go from survival to actually living, and using their time working on the 5 basic survival things. Season 1 is the best. Look it up on Youtube.
Shaereub 2 months ago
@Shaereub I love that show (the colony) but I just feel like it’s fixed a little. They are too balanced on the type of people they have but it is a great show of how people can survive with little or nothing and how hard it is going to be without all the things we take for granted. FYI season 1 was on Netflix so if any one missed it check it out, good stuff
barstoolguru 2 months ago
@barstoolguru If you say it's fixed, then you might as well Dual Survival is fixed. I saw The Colony, Season 1 this year on Netflicts (which is how I found out about the show). What's really a bummer is that it doesn't have Season 2. :( Oh Well.
Shaereub 2 months ago
@Shaereub Yes the colony is fixed in a way that it is produced and to achieve the highest ratings. You see no people with a missing limb, blind, overweight or uneducated. Go to Wal-Mart and look around because those people are the ones that are going to be with you in a real disaster. You might get lucky to get a mathematician or mechanical engineer or even better yet a doctor but chances are people with less survival skills then you are going to cling on for a better chance to live.
barstoolguru 2 months ago
@barstoolguru you wouldn't need someone with a PHD to help you. Just someone who can lend a hand. People (no matter what job they have) can work as a team if at least one person knows what to do. The more people you have working on somthing, the faster a job gets done.
Shaereub 2 months ago
@Shaereub You really don’t believe that do you? If you want to survive your chances are better with people that have skills and not a bunch of no-nothings that have to have their hand held every time something needs to be done. I have worked with people like that and let me tell you nothing gets done in a timely manner. Man has not survived for 6000 years because the stupid hung around the smart. The meek will not last
barstoolguru 2 months ago
@barstoolguru Yeah, I guess your right. Here's some Questions for you. Would you survive the Aftermath of a deasastor? How long do you think you would last? If you could choose, what type of people would you have? I would personally pick a Doctor/Nurse, a Machanic/ handy man, an engienear, and a marshal arts body instructor. The Colony Season 1 has some people in that catagorey.

IowaHunter641 4 months ago
@IowaHunter641 I know you are not asking me. But I see nothing wrong with it at all. If life in America becomes really poor, we'll need to know how to hunt our own food. And knowing how to shoot a gun and respect it, just gives them one more way to hunt.
Jumpybeaver 4 months ago
No matter, nothing lasts forever, even with knowledge Cody has made the point many times...surviving is no way to die. With 400,000,000 (that's million) people in the USA alone...consider if there where 40,000,000 deer to hunt...that is one deer for every 10 people, Deer won't last long would it. Texas has one long drought and has the concern they will not be able to populate the cow herds in a few more months ...it will be mind blowing when SHTF! This video is an example of sustained comfort.

bus142cm 8 months ago
The family in this vid. is how most ppl think of ''self reliant'' and I totally disagree with it . They are STILL depending on what they get from the grocery store . IMO true self reliance is knowing how to grow your own food , store your own food and live with out the intervention of wal-mart . Sure haveing food stocked up is not a bad thing , but when its gone , its gone . Knowing how to hunt and grow your own food is a MUST and somehthing I live every day .

She's got a great sense of suburban preparedness. Not the same as aboriginal skills, but that's fine. Society is much less likely to break down to a point where we all rely on aboriginal skills, but it's pretty likely to kick us in the pants and make us turn to our food/water storage at some point.

Her idea of being self sufficient is obviously flawed...stocking up on food and knowing how to use a gun is NOT self reliance. That is just delaying impending death. Having the type of skills Cody has is self reliance, but I guess what she is doing is pseudo self reliance in suburbia
jordythebassist 1 year ago 29
@jordythebassist what would you do if a natural disaster hit your area? it's not a matter of self reliance in the woods/swamp/jungle/desert/arctic. it's simply a matter of who can survive long enough in the area they live in! the suburbs may not be your ideal place to for self reliance, but it's probably where you live so think twice before you type dumbass comments!
Killahofosho 1 year ago
@Killahofosho I think that you should stalk up but what about after food runs out. If you dont have a garden set up then your going to starve. Simple facts.
enoughraptor6 1 year ago
@jordythebassist Are you kidding me going to work is delaying impending death? My idea of a perfect home is one that is situated with natural waater supply off the path enough bullet proof disaster proof and energy efficient. A MDI dome home could fit that description in the right location. The mind set is self reliance NOT GIVING UP is self reliance so NEVER GIVE UP. Sure we are as free as they let us be they think but they dare not grip us up cause they know USA is not ready for knees yet.USA!
cdltpx 1 year ago
@jordythebassist What the family was doing was exactly what Cody Layed out in his book, That family would be able to survive until the neighbors died, then they could eat the corpses and await rescue. If not they have an edge if they do need to bug out. Do you really need to be so critical? We can't all live in Montana hunting and gathering for our food. In a long term situation Animal Husbandry would be the way to go anyway.
MrEhud77 1 year ago
@jordythebassist at least she is doing something. and if more people would do just the little that she has done the world as a whole would be a better place. but you are right its not enough...but is there ever enough?
MrSaber152 1 year ago
@jordythebassist her idea may not be perfect, but it is a start. You have to admit that where she is at is much better than where the majority of people in America are at. Food storage is a huge part of being able to survive when the good ole supermarket is out of service. Delaying death is better than simply bowing before it. That delay could be enough to save her and her families lives. Something is better than nothing.
ImmaculateSludge 1 year ago
@jordythebassist 95% of everything we do is delaying death. Did you know that 100% of all Americans will die at some point in their life? Look it up.... its true!!!!!
dk0403 1 year ago 2
@jordythebassist - while I agree that her ideas might be a bit naive, you have to start somewhere. I owuld rather have someone like her, with a mindset that, while flawed is at least open, rather than the "ultra prepper" who feels they know everything. Give her some credit. Those of us who are of this survival and responsible mindset will never win over people if we degrade them for their limitations and tentative first steps. Encourage, educate and work together!
FirearmsFreak 1 year ago

HandsomeSasquatch 1 year ago
@jordythebassist Totally agreed; I thought the same thing when looking at that stored food and thought....what happens when her family eats all that food? Race2211 1 year ago

LOL

Jumpybeaver 7 months ago
@Jumpybeaver Growing food is self reliance, you can live sustainably on what you harvest. But don't forget everything else you will need; water, shelter etc. So whilst it is an aspect that goes into self reliance, it isn't the entire picture...
jordythebassist 6 months ago
@jordythebassist The main problem is. Most Americans, if not nearly all of them don't want to do this. I however do though and am working toward living off the grid and being more self reliant.
Jumpybeaver 6 months ago
@jordythebassist during the depression it was hard to find game 'cause everybody was out there huntin'. the population wasn't as big then. what do you would happen now if a depression hit again? i guess you could eat mushrooms and bugs.....food storage IS self-reliance. learn to do both survival and homesteading and you'll be better off...
