  • So bad it's entertaining.

  • Almost as bad as defcon 5

  • This bastard game! I played it for god knows how long when it came out and couldnt figure out wtf was meant to be going on. I never knew what it was called until stumbling upon it just now. Even back then it was horrendously shit but it just brings out the nerd in me. That hidden well away nerd! =]

I want to play it now!

  • Does anyone have a working torrent for this game? I remember playing the demo years ago, but due to the rarity of it finding a physical copy just isnt gonna happen. Plus I dont own a psx anymore :)

  • Wow how do you Run in corridors on this game? I could never work that out, I had the game on playstation.

  • this game always mind fucked me cuz i never knew anything about it but it kinda sucks that i cant find it anymore cuz i wanna try again and maby might do better on it

  • I'm pretty sure the idea of tipping consoles on their sides came from playing this game, because all I can remember is this game making my psx overheat so many times and the only way to fix it was tipping it on it's side.

  • I could never stop the station from being destroyed no matter what I did. Everytime I played it, I got a little further but the ending was always the same.

  • This game needs to be remade with todays technology and great voice acting

    It would be amazing!

  • Were you born with that face, or are you the victim of some experiment that went hideously wrong?

  • ack, no air!

  • Woah I just had the biggest flashback to 1997-1998 and playing a demo of this that came with my PSX, then came to find it on here. I literally haven't thought of this game in over 10 years!

  • I can't believe so many other people remember that this game exists.

  • I remember having played it so many times, I did get some endings but the problem was having to memorise the place and Rush through the game because you didnt have the time to relax

  • I remember this game. I used to love playing it.. But I never knew what to do. And the ship would always crash in the sun.

  • Why is there a guy with a triangle head ?

WHY !? WHY !?!? WHY !?!?!?!? Cool game by the way.

  • Is there a way to save the game? My copy didn't come with a manual.

  • There is a byond game based on a possible prelude on this game called SS13

  • ufff... this game is too dense for my brain.... lets play Pong...

  • I'm currently playing this. So far I've got the ending where you fly the entire station away from the sun with the help of 'sentient' beings within the sun. I've also got the one where the senators ship arrives to pick him up and you can teleport to the dock and nick the ship on your own 'better them than me ending'. As has been said what ruins this game is that the icarus station gets pulls into the sun too quickly, I don't seem to have time get other endings :-( let alone talk to people in it!

  • @RickManta SPOILER

  • I have this game and i hate it, wtf i think it should get the award of worst game ever :s

Lol even the begin doesnt make any sense you get shot down or something and you start up in a fucking labyrint :s And also where is the fun in this game the only thing you have to do is talk.... if i wanna talk i talk to a friend or somehting

  • OMG I remember this! :) Crazy facial expressions and everything. But I seem to remember getting stuck really quick. Would love to play it again!

  • i got this onpc i could never get past some rainbow place

  • Damn...

"You must be descended from an insect!"

  • Interesting looking game, I have it collecting dust in my closet.

  • haha! I used to love this game. I thought the graphics were awesome at the time, ha!

  • Comment removed

  • IDK Y but there is a small part of my heart that loves this game. i guess its cuz i would try to beat the dream mazes thingy, and forget about everyone else. lol.

  • i remember this! never knew what i was doin at all haha still dont now actualy....

  • There is a free PC version here:

    classic-pc-games (dot) com /pc /adventure /sentient (dot) html

Remove the (dot) and spaces.. ;)

  • Nobody in my house cold beat this game, and then it suddenly disappeared. I kinda want to try this game again, since In never got too much of a chance when I was younger (plus I wasn't very good at video games then either). XD

  • Thanks!!! It Works!!!

  • sorry another message but does anyone know where i can get the full game?

  • i remember trying to complete the demo of this but everytime it blew up. still it was quite fun trying to find out how to complete it. after ages i actually fixed the shield thingy and the teleporter, but i could never save that yehhana ta

  • First time I played this game, I couldn't figure out what to do in the bay area with the engineer lying there, and security thought that I was there to kill the senator or something like that. They turned me over to Azirra who let me go through a labyrinth like a rat in the laboratory...

  • guys what do i do on the Demo the one that you have to some how turn the shields on the one when that guy gets his head hurt i don't get it. i put the shields up the whole ship explodes. please help.

  • in the demo open the air lock with the mechanical kit then get a first aid kit from lollie downle and use on garillac who is in a room and he will help you do it. you will need to go to the room at the start though else it wont work. hope that explains it

  • I got this game in a pack with a bunch of other ones for $30

when I saw the credits after the tumbler maze... easy wtf.

also, it took me 20min to figure out how to open doors. stupid.

  • They should make a sequel tbh. Something similar, with the graphics technology of today, character voices, well written storyline and longer time before the game ends.

Maybe something whereby you can work your way up the ranks of your chosen profession (medic, engineer etc) and save the ship that way. Hence the alternate endings.

  • Sadly Psygnosis don't exist anymore, but I'd love to see some gamedev do a remake or sequel of this. Would be amazing.

  • TOOTALY! Look at this, this was fecking groundbreaking fro the time...

  • Psygnosis made games that were way ahead of their time...

  • haha graphics were awful!but a great game no doubt about it.I'm definitely starting this one after I finish overblood:Pjust playing every ps game that I never had the chance to finish, then I'm going after the segasaturn ones:)

  • whoa, overblood! that's a blast from the past! "i'm the real me" - love that game's storyline!

as for sentient -- I thought I was the only one who remembered this game? nice to see others remember it too, and are rediscovering it. it's too bad it was so hard to play.

  • the PC version has a lot of buttons to remember, and you had better have the manual!!!!!

  • I am poorly.

  • @Gauphastus So what? I'm sure that I need to know that.

  • ano cykalo sie troche

  • 3:25 must be one of the first examples of interactive surfaces like those in Doom 3.

  • are you using an emulator?

  • I never understood wtf to do in this game.

I'd just walk around until I was incinerated.

  • lol i know!! i could never figure out anything but the mazes. although i was only 7

  • lol none of these morons actually listen to what you say to them. Its so obvious that the people who made this game had way higher ambitions than they could fulfill with that conversation tree

  • Yes, you are right on the money there.

Also game is stupid hard. Even if you follow the walktrough you could end up with game over because somehow the station gets destroyed.

  • Apart from the "stupidly hard" aspect of the game.

I think its to bad they dont try to make games like this anymore. After games became main stream it seems most conversations in games are "Here, ammo. You use big gun, there!", while your character dosent say shit...

Some times, I wish gaming didnt become main stream and we would have more interesting games at the cost of Crysis graphics...Doh, am talking"Gabriel Knight 3"3d level is okay, not Sentient PSX.

Some standards should stand hehe :D

  • @Lobos222 I agree, there certainly isnt as much heart going into modern games.

  • looks awesome

  • lol yeah i remember this. (LOL) these models are scary now.........

  • man, if i had a polygon for a head i would certanly kill myself

  • Polygon for a head? WTF?! XD

  • LOL WTF GRAPHICS?!

  • i remember playing this crap for five minutes.

i would just throw in jet moto or hi-octane or something.

    magic carpet ftw!

  • just found this in a store. Don't know if i should buy it. Does it work well, or is it more of a novelty? Looks very slow and ugly, but on the other hand sort of charming in a weird way.

  • Stay away from it!

  • lol ^_^

  • I rented it once when I was younger and then I forgot about for a while. Then when I saw it in store for sale I brought it to see how it played after awhile. It is the most boring piece of shit I have ever played. It is so crap that I returned it to game traders the next day. Even though it was only $10 I thought I was cheated.

  • Damn, this is FUGLY.

  • i escaped from the station once. don't remember what ending though, nor how i escaped. really good story despite the near awful graphics

  • Me too... by stealing the escape pod of the station or hijacking the Senatorial Yacht.

  • Was thinking about this game the other day.. although I can't remember the heads being THAT bad!

  • i have this on pc i dont get it i get to some place with arrows all over the place and then i find a head

  • "Hi, my name is Jessupie Crump, and or 'Polygon-head', to my friends."

  • jajaja

  • Classic conversation: "What are you doing?"

"I'm trying to remember what I should be doing!" I've used that one a few times...

  • I remember one of the senators PAs invited me to the cinema - she didn't show!

  • I had this game back in 97...REALLY wanted to get into it as the whole concept seemed great! But alas the bloody ship kept blowing up on me!

  • Ha ha me too, I had the demo and kept on getting lost, then the ship blew up and that was that. Good times.

  • oh yeah I remember this game

  • Ah very good old old day that!!

  • has any1 ever passed this game?

  • I have many times, there are many alternate endings. The part though is that I don't think you can survive longer than 2/3 hours :(

  • ugh, how do you open doors???

  • R1 (or was it L1) button.

  • Graphics were horrible lol. The Playstation could produce better stuff than that.

  • danm!!!

i cant download the game anywhere!!!

    ;_(

  • go to rom hustler and go to the sony playstation setion (yes they finally got them)in parts however so just download all parts to 1 folder and extract the file till u get an image to play off of

  • Has anyone ever saved the space station, i never did?

  • I found my way around eventually... but it took some time

  • I think this was the first 3D game that used interactive interfaces on computer displays (as seen in the video).

  • I have this game (part of my 80+ PSX game collection). Started playing it a few days ago. Not bad but graphics are scary!

  • From what I remember, the game was really really hard and I never once seemed to even get close to beating it. I would love to give it another go though :) And I agree with the person above who said that no other game comes close to capturing the confined spaceship feel. This game is without a doubt one of the most immersive and atmospheric games I've ever played.

  • I absolutely fucking loved this game. I must have rented it at least 5 or 6 times from the local video place but I never ever beat it...in retrospect I should have just bought it :X

  • omg ! what a blast from the past. In some kind of way this game was very f*cked up. The noises, the headless characters. It was amazing for its time

  • "You look like you could use a bath."

    "Why thank you medic Sherova!"

I tried that chat up line once and got slapped in the face. A game full of LIES! I never got all the endings, but I got most of them, without forking out the huge £18 that was being asked for the strategy guide. Did we ever find out who Shatterjack was? Psygnosis were the Gods of gaming back then. Colony Wars, G-Police, Wipeout, Rollcage, Overboard, and weird stuff like this. Sony should never have broken the studio up.

  • 62 people, exact. :) Crazy and strange indeed. What were the people behind this game thinking? All they needed to do before finishing it,was to eventually add a mission "trigger" to it; you could, from the moment you gain control over Garret, walk around and explore/enjoy the station as long as you like, and then choose yourself when to start it (it´s descend towards the sun).

  • Agreed,Captain. :) This is,in my opinion, the only, and also a seriously big downside of the game. Time! Destroys the real point of games: To enjoy the graphics and such. You simply can´t do that in Sentient, since you have to start hurrying around and do the right things to save the station,as soon as you gain control of your character.. :(

  • Game had like 60+ characters but haved to and had time to talk only for something five of them if you wanted to finish the game. Strange.

  • Yes, I admit, even for it's time Sentient had bad graphics, but IMO no other game has had THAT kind of a confined space feeling, the game really gives you the feeling of a closed spaceship, and that kinda atmosphere gives me the chills, in a good way :)

  • Yes, but the game had some serious flaws.

Biggest of them was the tight time frame you had to work in. To finish the game you really hadn't time to chit chat with space folks.
