  • I was named after this song too!!!

  • Anita Carter???

  • what year is this?

  • This is probably before the pounds and pounds of cocaine that made it's way up his nose , He still was amazing though .

  • he looks like jane lynch here

  • This is probably the most emotially song i've heard from him ( sorry abt my bad english )but whatever, my first country album had this song, and i'm talking back in early 70:ies, and then I played this one ( on vinyl of course ) to a girl and now after 30 years we met again. Still have the vinyl by the way. Waylon IS country.

  • My mother named me after hearing this song. I keep it in mind and I thank my mother for naming me Anita

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY WAYLON :::

  • @JoshuaPanda; it's not uncommon for a guy like Waylon to write a song whose inspiration was Bob Dylan's "Ramona". It doesn't matter. He demonstrated at that time that he was into Dylan"s music like millions of others.

  • Great tune, but sounds alot like Dylan's "To Ramona"

  • Waylon does an awesome job on this song. I love this song.

  • there is a beautiful melody in this song and it is also so sad - he was such a great singer and like most good singers he died too young

  • This is the SOUND that Chet Atkins wanted to Destroy to make more money.

So Glad Waylon took that Asshole against the wall .

  • My Dad was a huge Waylon Jennings fan, and he also named me after this song. He had the album for years but when I was about 9 years old we moved and it got broken in the move. He was lucky several years later to find a cassette tape with it on it and gave it to me before he died in 2006 at the young age of 65. I still have it and I also now have it on CD, but I never thought to look to see if I could find old tv footage of him singing it until tonight when it popped up in a search. I cried.

  • these are the same cords as bob dylan's 'ramona'

  • Great song - great singer !! Thanks !!

  • I love this song. Waylon just did it perfectly. Miss ya Outlaw!

  • KsAmethyst- I would have liked to have met him- My dad's voice was much like his... I listen to this whenever I am sad... very appropriate- dreaming of a world that will never exist...

  • Its about me lol

  • good ol Waylon.

  • I call him an youngster, the ballade is great, his performance to,

    I miss waylon as much.

    From norwegian fan Jon sagbakken

  • Love this song:-)

  • Oh, beautiful!

  • I was named after this song too,

agtallgirl19999 :) I met Waylon once, told him I was named after one of his songs... he thought my name must be Amanda - I said no, its Anita - he said "I didn't think anyone remembered that song." I told him I'd never forget it :)

  • this song is wrote by Hank Willams Sr .

  • i got into waylon jennings by accident in the early seventies through a friend who went to live in texas. after that i never bought another artist. he is the king.

  • @TheKinglouis i also got into waylon by accident my brother said listen to this guy. and once i did i never got off of him.

  • one of the prettiest Waylon tunes, I think

  • Oh, this is so beautiful. Just Great!.

  • I agree, one of the best.

  • how have thi karaoke ANITA

  • he sounds like he is older waylon forever

  • W A Y L O N F O R E V E R

One of the greatest; RIP, Waylon. Love ya! (Thanks for posting this Slasheri ... I think you're description was off a bit though. I think he is singing to his mistress, telling her 'it's over", I'm going back to my WIFE.

  • He wrote this song for a woman that he was dating that was married.

  • Actually, he was married. He was married to his second wife Lynne when he wrote this because they were going through trying to leave each other, and he loved Barbara Rood and knew that if Lynne got her way then he and Barbara would not be married. In the end, they were. But at this point in Waylon's life (in the video) he was singing this for Barbara, because he loved her, and wanted to be with her and she wanted the same, only it seemed that they weren't to be.

  • linda canción.... dedicada a todos los h.d.p pasaditos de edad q rompen corazones de niñas estúpidamente ingenuas

  • Gratulation!!

    WJ born 15.06.1937!!

    Thanks for Melody-Rock-Country.

  • I haven't heard this song since I was a kid- this version is incredible... Oh yeah BTW- all Dylan haters suck!!!!

  • Right on ! Waylon was and still is the best.

  • Nobody like old Waylon

  • Hey Hoss, you were the best no one will ever have your sound..bet your playin' good now.

  • Of course I love this lovely song!! Waylon is just fantastic and I really must love the song because its me he is singing about, hahahaha!!!

  • Bary Jones and Biltom- I'll break the tie for you and say Johnny Cash wins :)

  • nashville 1965 awesome I have the test recording disc

  • I think this is a great video of waylon; He is so d__n good looking there and in his older days, He could park his shoes under my bed any time lol:-)

    (dreamweaver)

  • Man I've said it before and I'll say it again his voice sounds alot like Gordon Lightfoot - a good thing! Waylon was a Southern folkie, just like Johnny.

  • i thik this is the best song jennings ever made. I like this song because of its easy english, I´m German an my father and me listenend to his song sice I was 10 and at 14 I understand it nearly complete.

  • Do you listen to a lot of American country music in Germany? Didn't realize it had any popularity over there?

  • no it havent unfortuantly my grandfather was a seaman and my father too and they wer in america in the 50s (gradfather ) and in the 80s my fahter and they take a lot of records with and i listend to nearly all and i love country music and of caus rock´n roll ...excuse me for my mistakes in spelling i am german

  • Your English is a lot better than my German - thanks for the info.

  • Thanks for posting bring back memories from 1964 when I whas young..This song Is also on the album Living Town from 1964..thanks from Dave

  • In Waylon's biography, he says he wrote this song as sort of a letter to his then wife Barbara.

  • Sounds like a variation of Bob Dylan's "To Ramona." That's not a put-down. It's a good song sung by a great singer.

  • Waylon was great Dylan sucks

  • you sir are a complete and total jackass in high heels.

  • Waylon was great...I on the other hand can on certain days after a good meal of pork and beans, fart better sounds than that drugged out no talent bore, Dylan could ever grunt...and I will not send you a pair of my underwear to sniff no matter how many personal emails you send asking, so there...

  • your fuckin nuts pal. dylan was THE most important poet of the last 50 years. and he sounded great. this song is in no way a ripoff of ramona. they both borrowed from old old folk and country. mucho respect to all three partys

  • Dylan sucks, I never could suffer through a single song and he can not sing worth a shit. Hank Williams Sr was and is the greatest song writer ever...think as you please as I will also

  • you are the nut or on drugs as this idiot Dylan is, hell, he cant make a sentence much less sing...he acts as if his brain was fried and it probably is..you can't accept that does not matter...some dumb shits even call rap, music, what a joke....

  • look at the duet w hank sr and anita carter god is anita carter beautiful I CANT HELP IT IF IM STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU.i think hank was like 12 when he wrote this stuff just kidding .

  • is this from nashville rebel

  • It's OK Waylon, she is dreaming of Celtic lifting the cup!

  • Ha Ha

  • he sure looks young. this song is for my sister who happens to be named anita. thanks for the video, anita ann.

  • Hey man, it's all cool. Let's make an analogy between music and food. When a person is young, inexperienced, etc, candy and pizza are probably at the top of his list of favorite foods. As he grows older, wiser, and more refined, he realizes the unapproachable value of steak, shrimp, caviar, and fine wine. ACDC is candy, Waylon is caviar. You, are a musical toddler. Give it time. As you grow, you will understand.

  • if u dont like this why r u watching it

  • Wow, the Nashville Rebel...Rock on Waylon

  • God, he sure looked dreamy back then.Tall, lanky and oh so cute! The "Anita" he sings of was supposedly Anita Carter, June Carter's sister! Really.

  • I always wondered about that. They did some duets together. I hope someone can post some of them. Anita had a powerful voice and one of the best I ever heard. Beautiful woman too.

  • I too, think Anita had a beautiful voice, and wondered why she never made it "big". Waylon mentions her in his biography as he "fancied" her, whatever that means!

  • See my comments above. Guess I put them in the wrong place. Oops.

  • I have heard the same thing. They did do some duets together in the later 60s and of course Waylon met her when he was a roomy of Cash. True or not, I have no idea?

  • i hate the way american people pronounse my name (Anita ^^)...if your are europeen you can imagine it better ...they spell it like enida...not like A N I T A with a "T" not spelled like a "d" and an a spelled like an "e"

  • I bet you waited your entire life to to find a place you could whine about your name.

Wah! Wah! wah. Get over it.

P.S. - btw, great song. Waylon may be gone, but he'll never be forgotten

  • Not to be disrespectful, but people who speak different languages pronounce things differently =) The names "Roberto" and "Pedro" are perfect examples. English speakers do not roll their R's. Pedro sounds like Pay-Jro in English. But, thank you very much for enlightening me on the correct pronunciation of your name. However, if you were American, you would pronounce it the way Waylon (and the rest of us) do. In my country, we call it an accent.

  • This song is great, he wrote it and this will be one for me to learn. Love of the common people is another good one

  • oh crap!!! a lefty stategist!!! .. blessya, eagle.

  • The EAGLE is the BOMB!

  • If this video ever gets yanked I'd have to go to rehab to handle the withdrawals!

  • Good Grief! I never realized how fabulous that man looked without pre-beard! I love this song, but I always thought someone else sang it.

  • A side note to my previous comment. The world hadn't found him yet, but that's where Jessie (aka Miriam Johnson Eddy) found him. So I guess it was a good gig.

  • This takes me back to when I used to watch him at "JD's" before the "world" found him.

  • crispian st peters was given a demo of anita your dreamin but never recorded it in the late 6o s when visiting america

  • Waylon Jennings, the singer with the golden musical voice. this video is excellent, he look so young and clean, his voice is not as deep as in his later years but it's very rich and smooth.

Excellent video, I wish I knew how to get a copy...

  • You can get it on Ebay for $5.00 or less The video is from the (1967) movie titled "The Road to Nashville" with Bill Anderson - Norma Jean Beasler - The Carter family - Johnny Cash - Lefty Frizzell - Waylon Jennings - Bobby Osborne - Sonny Osborne - Bill Phillips - Webb Pierce - Margie Singleton - Connie Smith - Hank Snow - The Stoneman Family - Porter Wagoner - Kitty Wells - Dottie West - Don Winters - Johnny Wright - Ruby Wright - Faron Young and Speck Rhodes

  • Thank you so much for the reply on where to get the Waylon Jennings "Anita you're dreaming" video, it's highly appreciated. MICK.

  • Where can I find the days of sand and shovel, anyhow its great to hear´+see Waylon ;)

    Daniela

  • this man is without comparison-- period --- new or old there is no comparison to his voice---- no comparison-- did i say there was no comparison to waylon jennings? oh i didn't ---ok 4 the last time ---no soup for you!!

  • That's the same 63 Tele before he put the tooled leather cover on it.

  • I don't think so. The first one was covered while he played in Phoenix in the early 60's. The second one, with the black pick guard he got in the 70s I'm pretty sure.

  • o my *swoon*

  • Thanks for sharing this masterpiece. I just love it.

  • an before he got his fav strat

  • the guitar you're thinking of is a telecaster

  • yes its so nice..miss waylon
