@rattlergr glad you got a sac, nothin you could have done there with the male, she was gunning for that guy after the insert! im thinking of breeding these in the future, did you stimulate seasons in any way? any advice? thanks :)
Sometimes you have to guide the male.Because he maybe doing nothing and after you guide him he can do the job. This has worked for me and for other people..Tarantulas is hard to understunt sometimes.I had a male aphonopelma sp "malinche" that was hooking the female but never put embolous in...and he had allready made spermweb..after sometime he got eaten
I doubt guiding the male had any real negative effect. The female appeared receptive, and it looked like the male got an insertion. Many females will kill a male after a good insertion or a repeat attempt post insertion
I cant help but think rushing the male over to the female MAY be why he got eaten...not enough time for the female to get used to the male's presence and not immediately think he's food.
that's true, but didnt it look like she made a go for him before he tried? it was like he raised his legs up saying "WOAH WOAH WOAH HOLD IT IMMA DUDE" lol
my personal opinion: You forced the male to go in her direction. He didnt trompt or anything so the femalke did not knew he wanted to mate...

she was receptive..if she ate him as soon as he was in front of her..sure..i could see that argument. but she killed him right after he inserted..
