I have one question: When living in Kenya we could buy an ice cream called Kesar Badam. Your kulfi is very similar (when added some saffron). I have found some recipies when googling for Kesar Badam, but they have all strange milk products not found here. Do you have a recipe for this Ice Cre

  • can i use corn flour insted of cornstarch ?

  • Does it have to be whole milk? what about 2%? I LOVE your videos by the way. *suscribe*

  • @mogadean

    I recommend whole milk

  • Aunty, how do i make kulfi if i have evaporated milk and whole milk? can i make it without the bread and cornstarch then? and do i have to heat/ boil the evaporated milk?

  • Thank you for sharing your skills. You rock!

  • @nads786 i did that, but because the fat content is smaller in 2 %, i had to use more, about 6.5 cups. But MAN you have to watch your milk carefully because i ended up with bits of curd here and there in the pan. It was still delicious, but i could tell after that there's a reason why mama Manjula said whole milk lol :P

Thank you Manjula for your wonderful recipes!!

  • helloooo manjula madam...iam swathi from vizag........you are wonderful and greatest cook. i love your all recipes........thank u

  • does it matter what kind of bread to use???? can i use wheat bread or have to use white bread???? thank you, your channel is AMAZING

  • @umarsl

I prefer white bread this dissolve with milk without leaving the after taste. Whole wheat bread has different texture, which will change the color and will leave the taste.

  • excellent video just the thing i wuz lookin for

  • hi manjula ji,can u plz tell me if brown bread can be used instead of white?

Namastey auntyji... in the kulfi recipe I have 2 doubts:

    1. Can we replace bread crumbs for bread pieces, means mix Crumbs with milk in the mixture). ?

    2. Can we use unsweetened condensed milk instead of boiling milk for so long...?...If we use condensed milk do we still have to use starch ?

    Thank you.

  • @lokloke7777 Yes I use cornflour too! Its ok :O)

  • can be few reason, may be you did not boil the milk enough, milk should become almost half in valume or you forgot to add the bread and corn starch.

  • hi i am an american, female vegetarian and just now discovered you. i love your videos! you are very natural, and make everything look so easy and all your recipes look so delicious. i will try to make some this weekend. thank you for sharing :)

  • Manjula ji ,

I tried your recipe today & followed all your instructions but still my kulfi developed ice crystals after freezing . I had to go out & the kulfi was in the freezer for more than 10 hours. Could that be a reason or should I be adding more than 1tsp of cornflour to avoid crystal formation? - Thanks

  • I think you needed to boil the milk little longer or you forgot to add bread slice.. Kulfi should stay for days without having ice crystals.

  • Thanks for your response Manjula ji . I did use a bread slice but then coming to think of it I used 1tsp of corn flour instead of corn starch. Aren't they the same ?.

  • corn starch and corn flour are very different, you can find corn starch in any gracery store in baking section.

  • i really wanna make it .. but i am not finding corn starch .. is there any alternative

  • add 1/2 slice of extra bread. or if you have Arrowroot.

  • hello manjula aunty. didn't you put a glass bowl in the freezer? is it ok to use a glass bowl for freezing? won't it crack?

  • Glass bowl will not crack, that's what I use.

  • I'm gonna try that out with soya milk..I'll let you know if it works!!!

  • This looks so good! Can't wait to try it! Thank you for the recipe.

  • Hello, I have seen mango kulfi in the stores and my kids love it. What should I change in the receipe to get mango kulfi? Can I just mango pulp? Please advice.

    Thank you.

  • add 1 cup of mango pulp and do not add pista, that will work fine.

  • Thank you so much.

  • It always troubles me when people complain about all the food prices (although I sympathize), when they can make so many great things with about 10 basic ingredients. They should learn some of your recipes!

  • Manjula,

Is it okay if I use 2 cups of evaporated milk (from can) instead of boiling and reducing 4 cups of milk? Will that work?
