  • your right lloyd price puts more feeling into it but they r both good jams>> ADOLPH

  • Both good! Maybe the backup a little bit better on Larry's

  • Great stuff bro, I love your taste and knowledge. I am a great admirer of both artists. I would love to someday find a biography of Larry Williams. What a life this cat lived! Thank you.

  • MAN THATS AWESOME MUSICA!!LIKE BOTH VERSIONS!!THNX FOR POSTING!!!RESPECTO!!!

  • Larry Williams was a valet to both Lloyd Price and Little Richard

  • Lloyd's voice doesn't do any of that "squeaking" when the high notes come.

Larry was great but no where near the vocal skilled talent that Lloyd was.

  • No contest Lloyd of course ..

  • "all my life i've love the song "Just Because" probably because i've heard it all my life. I am one of the daughter of one the late larry williams. And i like the version done by my father and i like the version done by lloyd price. i think they both did a good job on that song." ~ Elena Maria Williams

**mom asked meh to post this**

also @kikiolala is my cousin and that comment was posted by mah aunty. ^_^

nice to see ppl still enjoy his music, wish i got to meet him

  • in all honesty i am one of larry williams granddaughters and my mother always have shown meh grandaddies 45's but i havent heard his version of this song until now so thanks for sharing this. buh since im used to lloyd price version i'd have to go with his but i like my grandfathers also now that ive finally hear it. i think they are both great artists of their time ^_^

  • Lloyd Price sounds like he actually have gone thru it...

  • I think Lloyd's re recording on KRC was best, otherwise I feel the Specialty recordings by Lloyd and Larry tie neck and neck.

  • @GOLDBAND45 Lloyd 's version ended up on ABC-Paramount...but you are right about his Specialty recordings

  • @d820m Yea it was leased to ABC but became a massive R&B hit on KRC.Atlantic Records did a deal with Lloyd as well although KRC ,owned by Lloyd and located in Washington DC folded after a couple of years.

  • i like both of them, but i like larry williams the best and that my choice

  • I must I choose my dads LWs version what can I say.

I give Lloyd his props Lisa Williams

  • I love you for put out good music and a little bit of the history behind the music..thanks love you unsold xicano!!

  • thanks for playing this jam it brings back good old time with my uncle gilbert medrono may he for every REST IN PEACE.LIOYD PRICE IS BETER

  • Yep. I really wanted to vote Larry because his High School Dance is a nostalgia trip for me ... but I guess Lloyd does do it with more heart.

  • Thanks unsoldchicano. You are my fantasy come true. I too am a radio minded d.j. ham. I like letting songs I like sing to others. Lloyd's version I have ever heard before now. I grow up in that period of time. Lloyd was instrumental in helping to take there creative talents away from the man. I had to leave the country for it and for uncle sam. Sam Cook was kill during that same period of time over the same thing of taking control. the story may be here on you tube .

    saasaaman utube.

  • it doesnt matter

  • well i like larrys version better.the true story was that since both of them were signed to art rupes speacialty records, larry got more airplay because at that time lloyd wanted out of his contract because rupe was screwing him over.

  • In the fifties, Larry Williams version was my favorite.

  • you've got some great music posted, thanks. Larry's version is very good. the lloyd Price version is better. his band too has a better performance. if you get a chance, listen to the john lennon version fr 1975. it's got 2 basses, great sax ect... another great version.

  • I heard John Lennon's version...no way it can even come close to these two versions.

  • I'm very familiar with Lloyd Price's version and did not know that Larry Williams had a version out at the same time. I am now hearing Larry's version for the very first time and its a "no brainer". Lloyd Price has the better version!!

  • No matter who it's too close for me cuz Loyd didn't fuck up and Williams didn't change it or Luther Vandross that shit or nothing. Lloyd.

  • I prefer the Lloyd Price version it has more feeling.James D Flynn

  • Lloyd Price wins this one! I saw Mr. Price when he was touring with the 4 kings of R&B which included Jerry Butler, Ben E. King and Gene Chandler. If you ever get a chance to see these guys perform; they are great!

  • Boy, that's a tough call. I think they were just different versions. I'm not sure which one I prefer. Marc.

  • Yeah it is a tough one too call THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT

  • You know what,,,??? I listened to them both again, and I think I'm gonna have to run with Lloyd on this one, but since we're talking about classic old R&B and rock and roll, I don't think anyone can lose with Larry's "signature" song of Bonnie Marone. Larry's got that one "in the bag", but Lloyd had a really good voice on this song. I'm just thrilled to see you and others still getting into this old stuff. To me, it's our heratage. Let's keep it alive. Marc.

  • @unsoldchicano no, not a close call. Lloyd Price has a style and swagger, Larry Williams version is just a reading. Its like Pat Boone covering Fats Domino. Larry Williams wrote some good songs but was mostly a novelty act. Lloyd was a master, a true classic. Jerry

  • Firme rola.Lloyd Price is firme.I love some of his rolas he's the best. Thanks for posting up.

  • YUP! IM DIGGIN LLOYD PRICE

  • thanks for giving you opinion

  • I like lloyd prices is better it sounds better ans a little slower its the one i grew up to

  • Me too i agree

  • I actually liked both of them alot.

But I gotta give it to lloyd price, cause theres just something about it, it sounds more original.

  • firme lil vato

  • LW does a good job on the song but I have to agree with you on Lloyd Price being the better of the two. I'm way more familiar with L. Price version. That's the one we all grew up with. I liked your story about the song. thank you for sharing !

  • I guess we all agree .. lloyd price takes it his is better
