@ProSoftCAD Nevermind. I figured it out. In the styles, Elevations are set to layer 0. Had to go back to the basics and realize that the surface takes on the transparency of the layer the surface is on.
Really great video btw. Is there a continuation to show those labels?
This tutorial is somewhat helpful. I have learned a few things so far but am unable to resolve my 'volume calculation' problem. Perhaps because this video is too difficult to see. I have only learned from the audio component. However, I did notice he has a "Surfaces" tab. I do not have this tab (in C3D 2010) and I'd like to know how I would be able to access what he does with the version that I have.

The surfaces can be accessed through your prospector, through the menu pulldowns and on the Home tab of the ribbon. There is no surfaces tab.
