  • why do people only flip and pitch with baitcasting poles? I never see anyone do this with spinning gear

  • @1995Blackrosedying Its just that most people use baitcasters for bass fishing.

  • The tension and brakes are set so that the bait free falls when you engage the thumb bar. You don't want the reel slowing your pitch. You do that with your thumb. You need low to the water with some velocity and then thumb it down just as its about to hit the water for a quiet entry. Just practice in the yard trying to land the bait without moving the grass.

  • so whats your breaks and pressure set to? all the way off? or just like normal?

  • very helpful thank you

  • All of a sudden I have a sudden urge for coffee!

  • Very good at showing the methods and how they work

  • Pros got it good .. free 300 dollar rods and reels a free boat every year tons of free lures ...

  • @iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa hahahahaha EAT ME

  • hey tim hortorn can i get a medium double double?

  • When you pitch do you keep the bail down?

  • @philly442 The bail ?? you use a baitcast for pitching not an open face

  • Tim is punching grass...a 1/16oz weight is by far way to light to punch grass...3/4-2oz weights are the preferred weight for this technique, a 7'6ft - 8ft Heavy to Extra Heavy Rod is required, match with 50-80lb Vicious Braid and you got yourself one hell of a punch rig!!!

  • @ReelBadBoyBassTV im with you on that one. i use 30 lb and it works just as well.

  • @kgoch22 30lb is a little bit light for me, I stick with 65 braid..But most of the time I flip grass with 20 pound fluoro

  • ok first of all who ever said 6 .6 rod sry to burst ye bubble most of the pros or my self use 7 or 7 1/2 rods ezy to flip use ur lure matters alot to 1/16 weight is wat i use i fish shollow water

  • do you set your brake loose? i've tried pitching tech. and all i get is a birds nest?

  • Yes you set your brake loose. You have to know how to thumb your reel. I bet you are grabbing your lure, loading the rod tip a lot, and trying to flip it under something like a dock, am i right? Rather than loading the rod tip a lot and trying to cast it hard, just lightly raise your rod straight up. If you want to get way underneath something, look up the "skipping" technique.

  • Set your brake to what you are comfortable with,(if your are backlashing, your brake is too loose) I suggest upgrading to a Abu Garcia Revo Reel, they have 24lbs of drag and are very hard to backlash!! Tighten your drag all the way down, you have to be able to horse the fish out of the cover when the time comes!!

  • pitchin is easier i think

  • Pitching is the greatest.

  • yeah and make a helluva lot of noise

  • sooooo?

  • does anyone have any tips for short to medium accur.. casts tips or techn.. would help thanks

  • i got flipping just cant get pitching

  • well to get pitching if using a baitcaster make sure ur magnetics is on 1 or 0 and ur cast control is low so ur kure falls fast then bring the lure down to ur reel and disingage the spool and tumb the spool very softly while droping the lure and swiging ur lure away from u with a low and pretty fast swing, its easy practice in the house if u want i did and got in down in less than a hour plus the roof will force u to keep ur rod tip down while pitching

  • ive been trying to learn this but everytime i try with my baitcaster it goes like a max 10 ft idk if its becuase my reel is crappy or my line? hmm guess ill keep on trying

  • the weight of the lure has a lot to do with it.. the heavier the lure (say 3/8 oz to 1 oz), the more momentum you can get and the greater distance you can pitch

  • very true and also the rods action and weight is the most important in distance and feel

  • try using a 6'6 mh rod with a mega force reel from diawa with 10-17 pound mono 8 if u want distance u wont realy get broken off with 8 its just pros like to horse the fish in and 8 will cover weeds buts use about 14 pound florocarbon for very heavy cover, good luck

  • lol man 7 - 7 1/2 rods are better alost use a braid its just a smooth to cast and no strech :) and u can get the lbs to force the fish out of cover in a low dia

  • @boss351freak I usually blame the fisherman before the reel or line.

  • Great tip! I need to work on those techniques.

  • "some people like to grab holt of it...."

Nice good-ol-boy accent. I like it

  • Great tips! I'll have to try that pitching technique with out catching the bait in my hand . Thanx!

  • Great video; quick and easy. thanks
