This is honestly very upsetting but not very suprising. Who woulndn't expect big company like disney in engaged in such cruel things. Almost every big coorporation does outrageous things like this. Thats how they become multi million and billion companies, by paying poor desperate people little of nothing to all the hard work for them. Its disgusts me that they treat people this way. But thats how the world works its not gonna change unless someone does something about it.
All of which were probably produced by third word countries, and *gasp* possibly child labor. In fact the software you used to edit this video was probably outsourced to developers in India or China. So I guess read words off of a paper and forget about where your clothes, food, technology, and toys come from and who makes it.
Reality can be a bitch, the same shit happened here (America) when we were becoming industrialized. However the result was a net positive. But we kinda did it first, and so we can sit on our high horse and judge developing nations for their use of child labor. If Disney or any corporation were not "exploiting" children in these areas some other company would take their place. In America it is lazy to see things in black and white terms, when you have an ipod, a computer, cable, etc.
Ya well I wasn't surprised that Disney would do this.. I"m really pissed off at them right know.. First of all they bought Marvel for 4 billion dollars and know this...
I just posponed my graduation to work @t Disney because it was a dream for me to work for the happiest place on earth... but guess what.... this is true salvery.. happening right now in 2009! I worked easiy 12 hours a day for only $7.25 and I have to do everything! i feel miserable... i cant bealieve they make millions of dollars a day and have such a poor pay for the employees! I'm really dissapointed!
Because no one is pure, and we should stop trying to pretend like we can be in a world wear most stuff comes from a sweatshop. But at the same time we should also recognise that we have a duty to do something about it. Can you tell me why you think individual boycotts are an effective method of protest?
to be honest it was quite hard to accept the fact that disney exploits people in third world countries. i loved disney as a child (but then again, who didn't?) and even now that im 22..i still cant get over the fact that they resorted to exploitation, so sad.
@annnney how can you be suprised at that fact? Walt Disney himself suported the Holocaust and hitler, he was also a huge racist and sexist, which is evident in most Disney films.
