  • I really like your gant charts but I thought there might be a way of doing the progress bar using the secondary axis.... there is. To do this you need to move all the task bars onto the secondary axis then add another single "task" on the primary axes which has an end date of now() and a start date of anything before the project start , in fact 0 works. There's a bit of tricking about with the axes and legends to be done but it can be made to work (excel 2007)

  • Hey its not working in my excel sheet 2010 I have done all the things but its not working:-) kindly help me

  • Again, I'm really impressed with your work. Great stuff. It is a good idea for a VBA project I could use for my students, or I should try and pull something like that off in Google Spreadsheets or OpenOffice.

  • @SpreadsheetTutorials

Thanks. Here's something for you and you student to tackle: What if you want to change the color of individual task bars as the project progresses? Green if yet to start, yellow if in progress, red if completed.

  • If you are looking for a simple to use, completed gantt chart template for excel 2007 and 2010. Take a look at chartgantt. ChartGantt has developed a solution using conditional formatting that enables instant change of view (day, week, month) and schedules all 4 dependency types.

  • Hi again!

How do you get that mouse cursor?

    Thanks!!!

  • Nice tip! There is a simpler way to do this, and it does not require macros. You have already calculated the amount of days the chart shows, and how many days have elapsed. Divide these to get a percentage elapsed, and then set an adjacent cell to 1 minus this value (the remainder of 100%). Then set up another bar chart with these two pieces of data as the source, and size it so that it overlays your chart just as your rectangle does. Color to taste, and you have the same effect without macros!

  • great! thanks for the idea.

  • hey thanks a ton for sharing this....works great....just one question..tho..we wanted to show how the rectange changes in shape....everytime time the value in the cell changes without having to close and open the workbook...

  • Cheers, this was excellent as well as your other vids...

  • I've messed with this for awhile, and I keep getting an error that the "item with the specified name wasn't found". My macro is set to select "Rectangle 3" because this is the name that shows when selecting the rectangle. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Thanks a Ton for sharing that

  • Thank you very much this is amazing.

  • Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to think this through...much appreciated and very easy to follow! Take care!
