Great Job on this Jeremy! I've been repeating this video over and over again, the beginning gives chills! If you ever feel like taking requests I'd love to hear the full version of Machine Age! Haha :-) Either way, fantastic job!
This nots cross the country where they came, and here in méxico we listened and its magic how the human mind can be possible all this things howeber in this case me dont know play the piano but always i want to learn speccialy with this things beautiful things thankyou very much for this.
For fucks sake, Horner keeps ripping himself off over and over again. Bicentennial man is just one of the many examples. In this score we hear EXACTLY the same themes as in A Beautiful Mind, parts of Braveheart. He has no fucking shame.
my god you are a real dick arnt you , who gives a flying fuck !!! horner is fucking amazing !! when a score is that good why wouldnt u repeat it !! DICK
LOL. OK, but the fact is that he should at least change a few notes so that the scores don't sound THE FUCKIN SAME!
Dont get me wrong, I love some of Horner's scores, really! But he crosses the line of self plagiarism sometimes. Anyways, live and let live. Cheers. PS: DICK! LOL
has anyone ever thought that maybe james horner copies his ideas because he was under a time limit and he only used that idea once in bicentenial man... give him a break... hanz zimmer coppies himself more than horner... it's just a style of music, u dont hear anyone saying that bach or mozart copied themselves...it's the same thing. i think it's really cleaver the way he does change this tune into beautiful mind.
great pianoing by the way, do u have the music? xxx

All i know that James CRAP Horner can't tell the difference. He steals so much from himself. I wished he could actually compose music, it would be neat. OR is it CRAPTANIC.
explain to me how one steals from what one already owns?
do you steal your own house because you sleep in it day in and day out? what have YOU done that SOOO damn creative and original. Make the same argument that so many people have already made about James Horner?
U r so wrong. IF James Horner composes music for Bicenntial Man, For Chris Columbus, THen Jame Horner Composes music for Ron Howard's A Beautiful Mind and the MAIN THEME sounds so much alike, HEY to all those WHO don't know Horner is his own ripoff artist. GET Star Trek2 when Spock is saving the enterprise in the room. There is a section of music that horner composed and when he composed Cocoon when the boy jumps out the boat and the old people move on, NOTE FOR NOTE the same. THE SAME MUSIC!!!
sorry you've wasted your money on his scores and your time watching this video. even Horner's fans know he reuses themes and motifs. in fact, i could name off A LOT of times he reuses music... but i enjoy his music.
people are too damn picky these days. just because you have to tolerate something doesn't mean you have to accept it. if you're so fixed on proving Horner is a cheap composer, please, by all means, make your own film music that is so much better.
You've stated your case, but really I see nothing wrong with recycling musical material, especially in a film scoring context. When you score a film, the same music can have an infinite variety of meanings depending on what is happening in the film.
UFOSPACE1999... There are people who create things and people who criticize those who create. What side do you want to be on? If you take a minute to shut up and make something you might find it much more enjoyable than criticizing someone else's work.
Oh man.Fascinate..There is many mistakes but that´s alright...Man Im playing soundtrack from BM named "First Drop Off" on el. guitar...Its nice too...Let´s try it on piano man.
There is a lot more dynamic in Kaleidoscope than there is in Machine. The strings also have a lot more involvement in Kaleidoscope that is nearly impossible to replicate playing solo.
It is whatever your mind tells you... and the end is definitely the theme for Beautiful Mind.
Wow!!! Amzing performance!! Very emotive! Dude if that's crappy then I lost the meaning!! My dream is to play that song one of these days. Very outstanding, beautiful
It basically is, haha. But, it is "The Machine Age" from Bicentennial Man and quite easily it slips into "A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics" from A Beautiful Mind. They are pretty much just variations on the same theme. A stigma has developed around Horner and his remarkably similar works. Therefore, there are two camps. One of Horner detractors and one of Horner acolytes. Personally, I love it when he does it.
I thought this was awesome! I couldn't remember which movie I've heard it from - I think it's from Bicentennial Man - is that right? Oh, by the way, 5 stars.
Heh. James Horner seems to like to recycle his stuff a lot, the A Beautiul Mind theme sounds exactly like one of his themes in 'Field of Dreams'

James Horner wrote the score for both movies, hence the similarities.
But it does sound more like A Beautiful Mind's, "A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics than Bicentennial Man.
Gabebro1 4 years ago
This is from "A Beautiful Mind" and the name of the piece is called "A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics." It's heard at the beginning of the movie.

Just type the title of the piece into YouTube search field. The whole piece is on YouTube from the soundtrack.
