@ghg6541 I am sorry, I really wouldn't be able to troubleshoot your system. You might need to call digitech or Avid to help you. There are way too many variables for me to even try. Good Luck

@Slash66693 I don't know, you should check the requirements. Also if the program is for a 32 bit system and you have a 64 bit, then there may be some issues too. I would contact AVID to find out, or do a google search
Hey, great video im looking into buying the mbox 2 mini myself. quick question, I have an alienware m14x laptop with windows 7 64bit, will pro tools work? I need to know before i buy anything
@MickeyVeeSP Thanks! I don't know about the capatability of your system. You need to read the Pro tools software requirements. It has changed since I bought mine a couple of years ago. Good luck! :)
@Ibanez2570P My Dell is a Vista Home Premium and it Runs Pro Tools 7.4 LE just fine. I don't know about 8 or SE. I would check the specs before buying anything. Good Luck
@bluejaybaseballfan Mbox is an audio interface that converts analog to digital. I have no idea what type of mixer you have, but some have a built in interface that allows you to connect to a computer. Most mixers just mix! :)
@Tgreenfi08 It is a DAW interface. It just converts analog to digital and controls the 2 imputs levels. It also provides power to an active condenser mic and allows a midi connection. Pro tools is the program that runs with it.
@KingsBladeUSA Ok thanks! I'm just looking for something to provide some more RAM/CPU power because I use Logic and its always timing out from the large amounts of audio I'm using.
@Tgreenfi08 There is probably a setting you could adjust. Just google "Logic timing out problem" or something like that and I bet there is a fix. Play Well! :)
@OFFICIALJONNYD Hi, For this recording I just used my camera mic, but for the song I did a direct plug in for the guitar along with the Sterling ST51 condenser mic. I added more guitar into the vocal track. Thanks! :)
@OFFICIALJONNYD There are many mics out there that I have no idea how good they are, but I can say that for the type of stuff that I do, the Sterling ST51 works well for around $100. I have seen it on sale for less. I can recommend it as a decent home studio mic for the price.
yes its definetly worth it, im just new to recording, and the settings to use, my vocals always sound like garbage, and i have no clue how it edit it to perfection.. unfortunetly.. if u know of any good videos on how to perfect this please let me kno. i have an audio technica 2020 i think thats a good enough mic..or so i was told by the people at long and mcquade(music store).but it has a low cut switch and a -10 db switch..and i dont kno what those should be on either. iv watched dozens of vids
Hey anybody with Pro Tools can help me out? I'm using a 32 Bit - Vista Basic Service Pack 1, 800+MB RAM Acer Desktop Computer. Can it work out with Pro Tools 8 LE?
Im going to plug in this to my new monitors, (I have mbox mini) I dont know how to find that cabel. Is it 2 "big" cabels in the soundcard and on the other side is left and right (plugged in to the monitors)? Are they together or is it 2 seperate cabels?
I have no idea what they are called and where to find them.. how did you get those? Do you know what they are called?
@LisaLarssonMusic Mbox2 has outputs for "powered monitors" - L and R. You need "balanced monitor cables". Make sure they are long enough. I hope this helps spread the music! :)
Good test, I'm interesting in plug a guitar and, I'll like to know if can I use the fx of Pro tool for playing live the guitar??? Thank You, and sorry, because i don't know about this new machines.
@sandroslb Protools is just a software program, but the mbox2 interface plugs into the computer and if you have powered monitor speakers pluged into the mbox, then you will be able to hear the guitar through the monitor speakers, but the effects on the guitar are coming from a processor by Line 6 call POD xt Live. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@KingsBladeUSA, Thank you my friend, I want to buy a guitar, but i've wanted use this new tecnology, i'm a novice in this and i´ve been thinking, maybe, I don't know, maybe play the guitar in live style in the club. I´ll hope you understand what i mean, sorry my english please jejejje thanks again
@sandroslb I recommend that you get a guitar first (acoustic would be nice to start with), learn how to play it, and then worry about how you will express yourself later. Once you learn how to play an instrument, you will have a friend for the rest of your life. Music is a wonderful way to find joy in life, but you must have a passion for it! :)
@KingsBladeUSA Thank you my friend, I think that you don't understand my poor english jajajaaj, I play acoustic guitar since 6 years old, i play electric guitar a little bit, not more, and i think that i like to play it in live mode with the MBOX 2, I was a Dj to in the 80's and 90's and de music run into my blood.
The Question is, what is what I need to play guitar and no spend much money?
is there any chance of you showing a tutorial of basic vocal recording and also can you tell me if its possible to add a music track but rip the vocals out and add my own vocals to the song thanks
@musicman75478 I have been thinking about doing some more pro tools videos since I know more than before. There are programs designed to breakdown songs (I think by frequencies) that might work for seperating the vox, but I don't have such a program and I can't help you with that one. Just google it. You can find a lot of Backing tracks for doing guitar and vocals on many sites of course, or you have a program like Guitar Pro where you can download midi files and build your own backing tracks.
@JazzNaySean The Mbox2 is more versatile with midi imputs and a second mic imput along with phantom power. I can't remember the other differences since I bought it over a year ago. Cheers! :)
should i keep the master volume on this all the way up and my monitors half or should i keep the monitors all the way up and the mbox mid way...im having problems getting a neutral level to base everything off off...after i bounce my tracks out of pro tools the volume is so low
@joeybela29 I use Ozone to help master the final to help get the volume levels up. I have also learned to carve out the eq by cutting frequencies for more headroom and most of all, tweeking individual tracks with compression helps the overall mix to be louder. As far as playback, I now have Rockitt5's and I need to keep the volume down while listening to the mix because the bass response is so heavy. It will take some practice. I hope this helps. Thanks! :)
@ITALC2009 Make sure Pro tools is compatable with your system and that you don't mind putting a lot of time into learning how to use the program. Thanks! :)
Hey there GREAT job. Quick question- you mention pulling songs into pro tools-- I can import audio into pro tools, but HOW do you line up a longer song like you did to be perfectly in sync with the tempo? I'm frustrated after spending hours between adjusting tempo and the TCE functions... Anyways, thanks for the inspiration (for newbie users like me out there...) THANKS! BTW- Comfortably numb is SPOT ON!!!
Thanks, sorry, I don't know how to determine the beat of an imported audio file. there is a way to determine beats, but I am not sure how it would be done with an audio file. I try to guess at it using the tempo box and tapping the "t" key by hand and then I tweek it the best I can. Sorry I can't help you more! :)
hello. i have a mbox mini2 digital. but when i moved i lost all of the cds/software. i have the condencer mic and the usb. do you know how to download protools? or what do i need to download? can you help me?
nice camera! these r the videos that are worth pending time to watch.. great info... but i wanna ask u... how do you connect a controller mixer with this box???
I am sorry, I don't know what a controller mixer is (to tell ya the truth), but I assume it is an external mixer and I don't know anything about them since I do all the mixing with Protools. Sorry I can't help you! Thanks for watching and commenting! :)
hey do you think you could put up a video on how to set up the mbox because one of my former music teachers has the same one and he cant seem to get it to work right with that 3-pronged mic. It doesnt show up on protools
@grumpy165 He needs to insert an audio track and choose the correct input channel in PT, corresponding with the input being used on mbox. Furthermore he needs to hit the record enable button on the side of the audio track inserted, and check if there is a signal. There is also the possibility to use direct monitoring. Hope this helps. I need more info to help further.
hey i wanna know how u install the digidesign cause i try to install my pro tools le 8 and they dont let me!! plz help me how to install it tell me the basics thanks i hope u reply as soonest as possible
You just install if from the disk. If it doesn't want to install, then you may have a conflict. Make sure your system is compatible. If you have a licensed copy, then register on the digidesign site and do a little research or do some more google research. There is no way I can help you from here. Sorry, but I am sure you will be able to figure it out. I would start with digidesign FAQ. Good Luck!
hey how you doing i just brought the MBox 2 from one of my frinds the same like you have but the sofetware that he gave me wont doesnt work...How can i tell if the MBox works or not i pluged it in the USB Port and all the lights came on on the Mbox but the the Two lights that up above the Headsphons jack are they suppose to come on also or they will once your get pro tools and download the software...
You may need to have a setup file so that your computer will be able to recognize the mbox. I am not at home at the moment, but I am pretty sure you need to have the setup file. You might be able to just plug it in and then plug your guitar and headphones in to see if you hear anything. I am not certain because I set all this stuff up at home while reading the installation manual that came with the unit. Ask you friend if he has a disc (that is if you don't have one of course).
hey, i have my mbox all set up and running..and i can hear my sounds fine through pro tools...and other programs like fl studio..but when it comes to like..me going on youtube or just hearing any of the computer sounds...i cant hear a thing...do you know why?...its driving me crazy
The Mbox is the audio interface ( the same thing as sound card) that run on closed system of Protools Application, and it can be use with another native music application ( Logic, cubase), but you have to install the Protools first for setup for connect the system and the Mbox.
Your videos are extremely helpful. I am considering the mbox2 and have been looking for a good example of exactly what I'm getting myself into. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain the in's and out's.
No! Mbox is an interface for pro tools. You need an interface to connect your instrument (say keyboards, which is midi) to your computer program (logic).
An interface allows you to connect ... you can get inexpensive one. I don't know anything about logic or mac but it shouldn't be hard to figure out with the help of the internet or your local music store.
ok i appreciate that i jus needed to know just un case cause im a young artist and my father is a producer and he giving me the mbox set with th pro tools
Thanks. I think there is always some latency when using a usb typle of connection, but I can't notice it since I mute the recording playback and listen to the actual imput with headphones. I have never had to edit any recordings due to latency. As fare as video sync, that would be my fault due to laziness, unless I was "faking" something.
Most all of my stuff is "real footage", but there were times when I was "practice recording" when the track was really good and I wasn't video "taping" it and then I might go back and "fake" something, but very rarely. Most of the out of sync is due to me not putting enough effort into making it perfect, since the video and audio are seperate tracks of course. Good Questions and thanks for your support! :)
hi i just wanted to know if there is any way to play through an amp or speaker and also play through headphones. i want to play a drum track out loud and also hear it in my phones how can i do this. what inputs need to be where i have the same system (mbox 2)
Yes, you just need a monitor or stereo and cables. I bought a set of stereo cables (Left and Right) and plugged them into the mbox (mon out) and I also bought a "Y" adapter and converted the 2 left and right 1/4" cables to a single 1/8" jack. You just need to convert the 1/4" output cables to the appropriate imput jack type. Maybe you already have the monitor speakers? Anyway, when you plug in the headphones and both sources still have the signal . Hope this helps.
Clarification for the newbees 1/4 Guitar cable to DI or device, 1/4 TRS from out put of device TO LOW Z INPUT. TRS cables have an extra ring on the jack. There exactly the same cable just wired or soldered differently including XLR. A three hundred dollar spool of cable will last u a life time if u solder them yourself
A 1/4 inch TRS is a low impedance cable. A 1/4 TS guitar or bass is high impedance. If u go direct through low z input with guitar or bass u want to use a DI box or a L6Pod or other device which can convert to low z. L6 Pods and some others can actually output both, remember if u go through low z always use a TRS cable from di to i/o not regular 1/4 inch if u want optimal sound quality. I always use TRS cables for recording. TIP RING SLEEVE =HOT COLD NEUTRAL can run for thousands of feet.
when i was first starting out i too had a pc and protools LE and the mbox 2 factory kit. in fact if you watch the "face for the radio" cover i did on my youtube page you can here my mixing. i recently have been working with an engineer who uses logic with the ensamble and the duet (600 bucks) and the difference is seriously night and day. keep up with the recording
KingsBladeUSA you actually got your mix sounding good. i like it. try logic and a mac though.. its worth the money :-)
Don't waste money on the Digidesign Mbox2 and Protools LE bundle. Unless you've got a few grand put away for a Protools HD rig don't do it. In other words it's a waste of money and time fooling around with Protools LE like this guy. The quality of your recordings will never sound the way you want them to. Even with highly trained and experienced engineers working on your project. Instead put your money into a Mac, Logic 9, and any Apogee hardware. See Butch Walker video on appoge's site!
I don't know if you watched these videos, but I did mention there are other systems that I am not familiar with. I am very happy with Protools so far, but then again, I really don't have any experience at all with anything else. I have heard many people get frustrated with this rig, so it's a good idea to check everything out before you buy anything if you can. Of course I don't have a Mac either. Thanks for commenting! :)
i saw that you are using Windows Vista, i use Vista x64 and i have a problem when i load many samples... the software lags, i press playback and it take half a seconds or a second to respond? do you know how i fix this problem?
Sorry, I really don't know how to help you with that. You might need to upgrade to a later version of Protools or a faster computer, not sure. Good Luck!
well i ise Pro Tools LE 8 with MBOX 2, my specs are Intel Core i7 2.67 x8, 6 GB RAM 333 Mhz, Asus P6T-Deluxe. Its funny phenomeno because i have More than enough specs but still i have a problem, even bios updated to the latest version... :p anyway thanks for replying :-)
Mine Mbox2 came with 7.4 with an option to upgrade to 8, but 7.4 is running fine on my Vista Premium Home addition. I thought about upgrading to PT8, but I just left things alone. I wonder if I should? Thanks for stopping by and commenting! :)
Ok, I am just afraid to change things and go through another learning curve, I hope it isn't that much different. "KingsBlade" is my chessplaying handle. I actually have an avatar too. I will put it up for the heck of it. Anyway, I thought the blade could represent my guitar...lol Thanks again for help and your comments
naw, their basic idea was to make PT editing screens more straight-to-the-point and accessibly quicker to call out, so they added a few new tricks to speed things up
Actually, the learning curve is a roll over from what you've already acquired thru steady usage on your current PT :)
its not like reading Green eggs & ham and then jumping into War and Peace
+_+ boo
REALLY, i play CHESS!! let me know what website you're on and i'll create the handle "SicilianSuckaboi" :)
i run cubase and fl 8 to..and your right it is the music that matter..because ive seen people on youtube saying if you have fl step up to reason if you have cubase step up to pro tools..but my sound quality has been pretty great with cubase
No Problem :) Anything Line 6 makes is awesome. Pro Tools is not as user friendly as all the other cool automated programs. It's not for everyone. In fact, I have had people tell me that they prefer other stuff, but like I said, I am no expert on any of this stuff :)
Yes, there are many recording set-ups out there and I am happy to hear you "second" the UX1. I Love my Line 6 stuff (Spider amp, PODxt live & BackTrack+Mic)!
Please i have a problem with my mbox2, when i open software there is rhe noise coming out and it's affecting my vocal...I don't know why

BTW- Comfortably numb is SPOT ON!!!
dbonawitz01 1 year ago
Thanks, sorry, I don't know how to determine the beat of an imported audio file. there is a way to determine beats, but I am not sure how it would be done with an audio file. I try to guess at it using the tempo box and tapping the "t" key by hand and then I tweek it the best I can. Sorry I can't help you more! :)

I think you would need to be registered at digidesign in order to get the software program. I am not sure how I could help you with this... sorry.

nice camera! these r the videos that are worth pending time to watch.. great info... but i wanna ask u... how do you connect a controller mixer with this box???
rural1 2 years ago
I am sorry, I don't know what a controller mixer is (to tell ya the truth), but I assume it is an external mixer and I don't know anything about them since I do all the mixing with Protools. Sorry I can't help you! Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

hey do you think you could put up a video on how to set up the mbox because one of my former music teachers has the same one and he cant seem to get it to work right with that 3-pronged mic. It doesnt show up on protools
grumpy165 2 years ago
I am not an expert on troubleshooting Pro Tools. You could try the digidesign website for support. I am Sorry that I can't help you with that.
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
oh well thanks anyways, ill do that
grumpy165 2 years ago
@grumpy165 He needs to insert an audio track and choose the correct input channel in PT, corresponding with the input being used on mbox. Furthermore he needs to hit the record enable button on the side of the audio track inserted, and check if there is a signal. There is also the possibility to use direct monitoring. Hope this helps. I need more info to help further.

hey i wanna know how u install the digidesign cause i try to install my pro tools le 8 and they dont let me!! plz help me how to install it tell me the basics thanks i hope u reply as soonest as possible
YoungbgokuofficiaTV 2 years ago
You just install if from the disk. If it doesn't want to install, then you may have a conflict. Make sure your system is compatible. If you have a licensed copy, then register on the digidesign site and do a little research or do some more google research. There is no way I can help you from here. Sorry, but I am sure you will be able to figure it out. I would start with digidesign FAQ. Good Luck!

juliusDae 2 years ago
You may need to have a setup file so that your computer will be able to recognize the mbox. I am not at home at the moment, but I am pretty sure you need to have the setup file. You might be able to just plug it in and then plug your guitar and headphones in to see if you hear anything. I am not certain because I set all this stuff up at home while reading the installation manual that came with the unit. Ask you friend if he has a disc (that is if you don't have one of course).

hey, i have my mbox all set up and running..and i can hear my sounds fine through pro tools...and other programs like fl studio..but when it comes to like..me going on youtube or just hearing any of the computer sounds...i cant hear a thing...do you know why?...its driving me crazy
joeybela29 2 years ago
No, I don't know why but I would check on digidesigns website for troubleshooting. Sorry I can't help you.
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
The Mbox is the audio interface ( the same thing as sound card) that run on closed system of Protools Application, and it can be use with another native music application ( Logic, cubase), but you have to install the Protools first for setup for connect the system and the Mbox.
armselmer 2 years ago
Your videos are extremely helpful. I am considering the mbox2 and have been looking for a good example of exactly what I'm getting myself into. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain the in's and out's.

KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
m box is an audio card i think... like any audio interface
seb98881 2 years ago
Sorry I can't help you! :)
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
Ok, I know I sound newbie but the mbox series are audio interfaces but do they have built in soundcards too? or do you need to get one?
bvried 2 years ago
I think mbox-protools runs off the computer sound card. Sorry, but I don't know.

i wanted to know if you can record and do songs using a laptop and hav the mbox and pro tools

Good Job King.
And Thank you to share the knowledge with us!!!
My question is:
1) The Mbox2 have audio latency?
2) The MIDI, i saw in other video. When you touch the keyboard i felt a little latency. Is because the video sync or Mbox2 have a latency audio?
Thanks again for explanation.
T0pMus1c 2 years ago
Thanks. I think there is always some latency when using a usb typle of connection, but I can't notice it since I mute the recording playback and listen to the actual imput with headphones. I have never had to edit any recordings due to latency. As fare as video sync, that would be my fault due to laziness, unless I was "faking" something.
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
Most all of my stuff is "real footage", but there were times when I was "practice recording" when the track was really good and I wasn't video "taping" it and then I might go back and "fake" something, but very rarely. Most of the out of sync is due to me not putting enough effort into making it perfect, since the video and audio are seperate tracks of course. Good Questions and thanks for your support! :)
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
hi i just wanted to know if there is any way to play through an amp or speaker and also play through headphones. i want to play a drum track out loud and also hear it in my phones how can i do this. what inputs need to be where i have the same system (mbox 2)
YellaTerraMitch 2 years ago
Yes, you just need a monitor or stereo and cables. I bought a set of stereo cables (Left and Right) and plugged them into the mbox (mon out) and I also bought a "Y" adapter and converted the 2 left and right 1/4" cables to a single 1/8" jack. You just need to convert the 1/4" output cables to the appropriate imput jack type. Maybe you already have the monitor speakers? Anyway, when you plug in the headphones and both sources still have the signal . Hope this helps.
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
Clarification for the newbees 1/4 Guitar cable to DI or device, 1/4 TRS from out put of device TO LOW Z INPUT. TRS cables have an extra ring on the jack. There exactly the same cable just wired or soldered differently including XLR. A three hundred dollar spool of cable will last u a life time if u solder them yourself
benthemiester 2 years ago
Thanks again! :)
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago

MusicMakerJev 2 years ago
Thanks for the info and I will check out your site too. I have heard some really good things about logic and it sounds really good. Thanks Again! :)
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
Don't waste money on the Digidesign Mbox2 and Protools LE bundle. Unless you've got a few grand put away for a Protools HD rig don't do it. In other words it's a waste of money and time fooling around with Protools LE like this guy. The quality of your recordings will never sound the way you want them to. Even with highly trained and experienced engineers working on your project. Instead put your money into a Mac, Logic 9, and any Apogee hardware. See Butch Walker video on appoge's site!
MusicMakerJev 2 years ago
I don't know if you watched these videos, but I did mention there are other systems that I am not familiar with. I am very happy with Protools so far, but then again, I really don't have any experience at all with anything else. I have heard many people get frustrated with this rig, so it's a good idea to check everything out before you buy anything if you can. Of course I don't have a Mac either. Thanks for commenting! :)

i saw that you are using Windows Vista, i use Vista x64 and i have a problem when i load many samples... the software lags, i press playback and it take half a seconds or a second to respond? do you know how i fix this problem?
sappiou 2 years ago
Sorry, I really don't know how to help you with that. You might need to upgrade to a later version of Protools or a faster computer, not sure. Good Luck!

well i ise Pro Tools LE 8 with MBOX 2, my specs are Intel Core i7 2.67 x8, 6 GB RAM 333 Mhz, Asus P6T-Deluxe. Its funny phenomeno because i have More than enough specs but still i have a problem, even bios updated to the latest version... :p anyway thanks for replying :-)

KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
the mbox2 comes with pro tools 8 LE as a bundle package
for anyone interested in PT8LE its absolutely neccessary. PT will not launch with any other audio interface, so its forced LOL
well, i use Cubase and FL Studio 8 PE, but PT8 is just as good i suppose
remember fellas.. its the MUSIC that matters most, not so much the digi studio involved
nice vid! :p
FTWyousuck 2 years ago
Mine Mbox2 came with 7.4 with an option to upgrade to 8, but 7.4 is running fine on my Vista Premium Home addition. I thought about upgrading to PT8, but I just left things alone. I wonder if I should? Thanks for stopping by and commenting! :)
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
absolutely! get the upgrade, its well worth it and from what i can tell PT8 has some pretty clever upgrades :p
i've enough VST plugins to make an alien jealous! LOL
Addictive Drums is probably one of my favorite toys, but i just got that BFD2 by FXpansion
i like FL Studio 8 PE and i think nomatter what, VST arsenals are pointless unless one knows how to make good music
keep writing, mistro!
is that a town or are you a LA Kings fan?
FTWyousuck 2 years ago
Ok, I am just afraid to change things and go through another learning curve, I hope it isn't that much different. "KingsBlade" is my chessplaying handle. I actually have an avatar too. I will put it up for the heck of it. Anyway, I thought the blade could represent my guitar...lol Thanks again for help and your comments
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
naw, their basic idea was to make PT editing screens more straight-to-the-point and accessibly quicker to call out, so they added a few new tricks to speed things up
Actually, the learning curve is a roll over from what you've already acquired thru steady usage on your current PT :)
its not like reading Green eggs & ham and then jumping into War and Peace
+_+ boo
REALLY, i play CHESS!! let me know what website you're on and i'll create the handle "SicilianSuckaboi" :)
FTWyousuck 2 years ago
naw, consider it a minor roll over from what you've already acquired durning your usage on your current PT, but if its not broke don't fix it, ey?
Hey, i'm a chess buff myself! haha
i play on ICC but been sort've out for a while
what site are you on? let me know and if its Free i'll create a handle "SicilianSuckaboi" :)
LOL i've played in philly at ritten house square park and at NYU Manhattan at washington square park
yeah, i play a little bit...
( whistles casually)
FTWyousuck 2 years ago
i run cubase and fl 8 to..and your right it is the music that matter..because ive seen people on youtube saying if you have fl step up to reason if you have cubase step up to pro tools..but my sound quality has been pretty great with cubase

btw the line 6 ux1 will be ok ?
simezra 2 years ago
No Problem :) Anything Line 6 makes is awesome. Pro Tools is not as user friendly as all the other cool automated programs. It's not for everyone. In fact, I have had people tell me that they prefer other stuff, but like I said, I am no expert on any of this stuff :)
KingsBladeUSA 2 years ago
The UX1 is awesome. Trust me, it may be cheaper, but it's worth it if you don't have the mney to plop down for an M-Audio box.
AnathemaBlack 2 years ago
Yes, there are many recording set-ups out there and I am happy to hear you "second" the UX1. I Love my Line 6 stuff (Spider amp, PODxt live & BackTrack+Mic)!
