Im trying out 3d modelling as a hobby just for non profit purposes. However since Im new to this i don't have a good configuration. Sometimes rendering takes a lot of time. I do this on a laptop and 3ds max.

Could you help me out with a suitable configuration?? like what is your laptop or pcs configuration? And can we use Nvidia or Ati radeon cards? or do we need to use Quadro or Firepro cards specifically?

Before thinking about the hardware, you should think about learning 3dsmax properly first - and then adapt the hardware to your needs.

How long should i wait till i buy a proper workstation?? What is your advice? Should i learn for over a year or so? Could you suggest me any specialist learning that i should undertake?

yep, you're right LOL. Noticed it afterwards... however, the model and everything is all wrong, seeing it from today. In fact that was the first A380 I modelled. My new one for Next Level Simulations is very accurate compared to this hehe. Well, you DO see dirt clouds sometimes - its dirt or oil remains that get blown out by the bleed air upon engine start ;)

fact 1: it was done as a student project when I attended 3D college. Therefore, it had to be done with various 3D and compositing software. In this case 3d studio max 7 and adobe after effects

fact 2: of course it could have been done with FSX and DX10 as well, but that was not the purpose. Although, it was done in october 2005, so no FSX nor DX10.

Your video is wrong, with the facts at the beginning, the A380 will not cut flights due to the A380 only flying from major airports E.g. frankfurt, heathrow, you get my drift and so people are going to be flying to those airports to get on there A380 Flight, and the A380 shall only be used as long haul, and the number of 737's and other small aircraft will increase due to the A380 Only flying from certian airports so please, dont talk bollocks ;} thanks.

I work for larger productions, using the Sony Z1 (HD Camera) but I still don't think it compares to the PD150 for night shots - both are a good idea for your next move.

lol as I have said this was a STUDENT project... when I was still learning 3D... check out nextlevelsimulations(dot)de - I am doing a "proper" A380 simulation for FSX with very accurate models there. The model in this video sucks indeed... ;) but well, everyone started somehow :)
