I was 1 block away from a neighborhood that got completely demolished (stonegate) .... I will never forget the sounds of that storm while in my basement, as if a freight train was driving through my back yard....
Cool stuff. I'm in the middle of making a 1 minute film about Newburgh for my film class and I'm doing some research on the tornado now. I moved away in '01 so thankfully I didn't experience it, but all my old classmates did. Thanks a lot for this
Really, really touching vid. I live about 350 mi. north of you. But, we knew I guy, I forgot his name, who lives SE of Eastbrooke. He rebuilt a house next to his old one. I had a look inside the damaged remains. Now, this was in 2008. The place looked like a time portal to about 5-min after the tornado. It was just awful. Everything was stuck at 2:00 Am on 11/6. Pictures, calenders, it was all there, and it just boggles my mind how a tunnel of wind can do so much damage.
Yeah, it really was terrible. We went along several streets to get all this footage and and I (visiting from college) couldn't believe my eyes. I grew up in this town and here it was, destroyed.
My whole family is here and luckily none of them or their homes were hurt. Obviously, others weren't so lucky.
