The reason is touches so many, even those who admit they don't truly understand why, is that it speaks of God's unconditional love towards all of us knuckleheads! :) In a way, it's a conversation between someone yearning for Him, and He who created all. I do have to point out its a whole different genre. Coldplay makes music, Gaga is used to sell "a combination of sounds". It has no soul, no pasion, no love. it's not even near one of these things. She's just so obsessed with money, fame , or whatever it is, that she let herself be pimped out by her producers, who carefully calculate everything from lyrics to background music to music video, to make as much profit of her they can.
