I'm going crazy trying to figure out what the bit at 1:11 (and 2:47) reminds me of. There's some other song with a bit that sounds exactly like that. Beatles, maybe? Anyone know?
In a more general way, this song sounds kind of like Stairway to Heaven. Listen to it after listening to this one and you'll see what I mean.
@CZeke Maybe Bell Bottom Blues? I will say the harmony does have a Lennon sound to it. One day, I'll probably hear "the other song" and the lightbulb will brighten.
@CZeke is the song you're thinking of "The Stranger" by Billy Joel? The slow piano opening and closing of that song are similar to the melody of this song.
These guys are great, especially in the last albums. This song is the best one I like from Keep Your Wig On. Really beautiful ! They've been leaving the maintream. My impression is they're focusing on a smaller scale audience -- to feel "cozier" maybe. I only hope they won't simply vanish. Really cool ! Congrats ! 8)))))))

@CZeke - - Is it maybe "Can't Find My Way Back Home" from Blind Faith (Clapton)?

@moondansyr: That's not it... but it sounds similar and it's a GREAT song, so thanks for the suggestion!

One of life's great mystery's why Fastball is not more successful. They rank with the Beatles and Jim Croce as my favorite artists of all time

I love this song! My daughter has it on her Ipod and I first heard it from her. She is also a big fan of "They Might be Giants."

I'm not a big fan of Fastball, but I must admit, quite a few of their songs are really charming. Falling Upstairs is surely one of them.
