i'm gettin a macbook soon and i have absolutely no idea how to use one cause i'm still a kid...but you really helped! thanks a lot! you teach it well! your explanations are really easy to understand! thanks again!
I have a business that runs off of InDesign and Photoshop...so I'm a bit interested. I'd like to see the loadup times of that on the new Intel macs if you would please.
Like the review except for the Firefox part, Opera is still faster and has more features that nullify the need for the popular extensions Firefox has. Also, I thought Safari was fastest on a Mac anyways.
-Remember I liked your review just not the Firefox part.
Thank you for doing this, this is exactly the kind of thing I needed cause I just got a Macbook Pro, first Mac ever, always used Windoz, but I'm sick of PC's, now I don't feel so completely lost. Is there a way you could go into keyboard commands to do certain functions (ie. Alt+Tab scrolls through open programs in Windows.), stuff like that?
How is the optical drive? Does it take forever to burn a cd or dvd? And do the speakers seem loud enough to watch a movie from about 5 feet away? I went to Best Buy to look at it, but the store was really loud so I couldn't tell.
I haven't tried any disc burning on the optical drive yet but here are the speeds according to apple: Maximum write: 8x DVD-R, DVD+R; 4x DVD-R DL (double layer), DVD+R DL (double layer), DVD-RW, DVD+RW; 24x CD-R; 10x CD-RW
The speakers are good for a laptop so I would say that you could listen to a movie from ~5ft away if you wanted to. I am thinking about getting some external speakers though just because I am used to having nicer speakers like I do on my desktop.
I went with the 2.2GHz model. In my next video I am going to go through all of the macbook configurations and discuss why one should get each specific config.
Honestly though, I think I would have been just as happy with the glossy. I spent a lot of time thinking about what type of display to get and in the end I decided that I didn't need the added benefits of the glossy and that I would rather not take the risk of having a distracting glare. I think Apple has pretty much eliminated glare for the most part though in their glossy screens from what I have heard/seen.

Alt+Tab works, but you can also use Expose which looks way cooler. Most of the stuff from Windows is in OS X but it's significantly better.

Very helpful review, but I`d like to see some more connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, bluetooth and file sharing with a PC. Good job!

Thanks a lot... do you have a glossy or matte screen?
RaceJohnson 4 years ago
I went with the matte screen because I have a second display that is matte, and because I am not that big into watching videos or anything.
