There is a definite difference between abusive smacking and responsible smacking.
Sometimes, an action which would be undoubtedly abusive in one situation can be completely the opposite in another.
If someone sliced off your little finger, would the be an act of abuse? Yes.
But what if the reason for that action was to save the entire hand? Not nearly as straight forward to judge.
It needs to be considered, in equal measure, how abusive non-action can be. Situations are never just black & white.
