  • I just found this and was totally, delightfully blown away. You are so gifted! Putting it all together - the visual, the song, the lyrics - just lifted it from the nostalgic to a whole new experience. Thank you.

  • thanks !...I remember the movie with lisa minelli :):):):)

  • This is MOST EXCELLENT!!!!

  • to Cora, 'twas saturday, june 22, 1991

  • this song brings back so many memories

  • What a great piece. It tends to bring back some of the wonderful childhood memories that were so special to me. And,,, that special someone I cherished.

And as for me, I will always remember those special times with my Love, and always , yes, always, on Saturday Mornings.

    Thanks.for the song.

  • I remember you, Jamie, your warm smile, golden hair, and the cheerful way you always said my name... "Hi Scôtt!"

The Santa Cruz mountains and the tree house, way out in the back.

If I could go back to any place and time I'd be forever there with you and your flute so sweet.

  • Timeless perfection and memories of Liza Minella in "The Sterile Cuckoo" film. Thanks.......

  • A very sweet remembrance of days long gone (unfortunately)

  • This song is very soothing to the ears and brings peace to the heart.

  • @lehmanglenn57

  • At 1:30 in the lyrics are wrong. Its not Saturday days, its Saturday Things.

  • @MrTommy001

    my pleasure...

  • Good song...I heard it on my parents' record player when I was a little kid in the 80's. An ethereal quality. A lot of Catholic guitar Mass songs from that time also sound similar to this.....

  • Very nicely done video and recording

  • bittersweet memories of my youth, and for everyone over 60. The sterile Cuckoo was a great movie. A message for what was to be soon lost, innocence and youth

  • Reminds me of the late 60s and early 70s when I would go to Pittsburgh to spend some time with my friends on Friday night and Saturday morning. Thanks for the post!

  • This song sure does remind me of times when things were so much more simple in

life. Love the song and I miss those times. Many thanks to the person who posted it. Hoping and praying for peace everywhere on earth and to everyone. Jqau

  • @Jqau

    you're welcome...

  • After getting up on Saturday I would place my self in front of that old Zenith and watch Fire-Ball XL5 , Fury Sky-King and Soupy Sales. Wow those were the days no kids no gran kids and No middle age.......

  • Great song. Wish it was on video.

  • The anthem of my childhood... my best memories live forever with this song. Thank you for posting.

  • This song was in the movie "The Sterile Cuckoo" still a good 1970's movie before everything had to have what is call a movie today

  • This is an all time favorite of mine I can remember it from so far back. Not a big

kids/teens song but for some reason I loved it...Such a mellow song with very

cool lyrics they always meant something to me...I am very glad you posted it.

Thanks you did a great job and brought back some great memories for me...

    Sincerely,

    Country Girl

  • @GaCountryGirl024

my pleasure... thanks... appreciate your comment...

  • I had never heard this song before last week. What a shame that no radio station plays this one. Thank you for putting it up on the Internet for others to hear.

  • @IzDiaries

    my pleasure...

  • This is one deemed tune ... bringing back sombre memories - lingering more as I keep on playing re-playing this timeless music. I felt good - very healing !!!

Today is Saturday ... I gotta 'move on' ... but I 'will remember ... long after Saturday's gone'. Two beautiful people crossed over on a Saturday ... My many Saturdays should turn out better ... next (hopefully ...)

The Sterile Cuckoo, BTW, was one of the best in the mid-70s. It was beautiful! This theme gave it justice. noyMyth ~

  • to cat

  • this was my graduation song

  • When I was a kid one of my next door neighbors used to sing this.

  • I ♥ SATURDAYS! Beautiful background scenery for this fab song ♥ Thanks!

  • I'm a child of Motown, James Browns, and Otis Reddings, but I must admit that this song is one of the most gorgeous songs of the 60's. Thank you very much for posting.

  • @kyereCat

    you're welcome...

  • fantastic

  • I never get tired of listening to this song. I remember hearing it when I was a little boy. I couldn't wait to hear it on the radio. It was so beautiful then, and it's beautiful now. I only wish there were radio stations that would play it today. Great song with a really nice video. Thanks and God Bless!

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr

you're welcome.. thanks for your comment...

  • @crossover70s You're welcome and Thank you for posting this Beautiful song that gets me teary eyed more often than not. God Bless!

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr

my pleasure... God bless you too...

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr

I know exactly what you mean. The oldies stations keep playing the same songs over and over again. But you'll never hear the Sandpipers, or the Seekers, or Joni Mitchell, or Bob Dylan, or even Aretha and the Stones. Where were these people?

  • Very nice with beautiful scenery...Only one thing. Could you please check the lyrics where "Dressed up in our rings and our Saturday ?" I think this should be "things" not "days"

  • It was a different world in 1970 & one i sometimes miss - scott

  • Sorry to get a little philosophical, but I think this song has such a wonderful message of how life is made up simply of dreams and worries about the future and memories and regrets about the past. At least that's what it makes me think about when I listen to it.

  • 1965 was so full of hope and promise for a new and better world. And here we are all over again fighting for who knows what. We have come full circle and all those beautiful boys and men are gone, again. And so many mothers and wives and girlfriends and fathers are left behind to mourn.

  • A "Love Story" want to be. Good song, bad movie. Song was nominated for a Oscar.

  • @dahsuerk This came out before Love Story, it's hard to be a want to be.

  • Seeing the comment about Liza Minelli's troupled character, made me think I saw "The Sterile Cuckoo," but then my memory cleared. I saw "Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon," a very sad movie. That's about all I remember about it, now, that and that it was about two troubled souls and I think she had a scarred face. Br-r-r! Dave.

  • To all my "new friends I met in The Year 1969" and from all the neigborhoods

in our Little Town Licking Missouri. If you can relate to that or this wonderful song you were there and you have allot to be thankful for: JUST BEING THERE!

  • this song has a unique, quintessentially nostalgic but timeless feel to it... beautifully simple, yet poignant because of the movie's character. a classic

  • beautiful images to go with this beautiful song. thank you for this video!!!

  • thanks for this crossover!

  • you're welcome maiax2k6...

  • crossover70s,

A very beautiful, classic song and great scenery for the song in pictures! I LOVE this song! Thanks for the 'sights & sounds'!

  • @harry4health

    my pleasure....

  • I remeber this song fondly and the girl i was madly in love with

  • when i first saw this movie i thought liza minelli's character had been treated very unfairly. but upon viewing it 2 and 3 decades later i realized her character was very troubled. also, i remember with affection those short wool skirts, sometimes ending where my legs began, with black tights; i loved wearing them with warm sweaters..

  • @grofys

Hi, would you please tell me the name of the movie with this song as its theme song? I saw the movie many many years ago, but can't remember the name.

    Thanks!

  • the sterile cuckoo.

  • @Sikisupy The movie was called "The Sterile Cuckoo" with (a very young) Liza

    Minelli.

  • Great video and lovely song. If only those glorious days of the late sixties and early seventies, and its fabulous music, could be revived...

  • Great song - Good movie from that era

  • i requested a song from George Boone before and he played this song. He knows that every Saturday, my kid and I go to my hubby's place at the cemetery and put flowers on his grave...sad song but always brings a smile to my face. "sigh"

  • College rock!

    I've lost my friend, albert.

  • This song is so sad. It reminds me of my mother's best friend. This was one of her favorite songs. She's gone now and I think of her whenever I hear this.

  • Congratulations Jenny and Gus!!!

Love, Aunt Lou Mae & Uncle Eugene :)

  • My cousin had this song at the end of her wedding as she and her new husband were leaving the alter. It does suit this day since it's like you are going away with your friend.

  • @gailboate How true, However they were

no longer friends but a couple as one !!!

  • This is something that I sent to my sister...

Mom was awake when I got up, I took in a warm washcloth for her face. I went and got a cup of coffee. When I got back I said " The sun is shining, it's warm, it's supposed to reach 70", she ask, "What day is it"? I I said Saturday and the words "Saturday in the park, I think it was the 4th of July" by Chicago flashed across my mind. Then immediately I thought of "Come Saturday Morning" and how you loved that song, I did too.

  • I couldn't remember who sang it. I went to YouTube anyway and typed in "Come Sat" and when suggestions came up "Come Saturday Morning" came up. I saw one that said Lyrics so I went to that. It was the Sandpipers. I didn't have their album, but found the soundtrack of "The Sterile Cuckoo" on cutout for a low price. This one song was probably the reason I bought this LP. Listening to this song makes me wonder what other beautiful music they may have produced that I totally missed out on.

  • Brings back memories of being in High school and some nice Saturday mornings going shopping with my mother. I am glad I have the forty-five, along with "Good Morning Starshine" forty-five. Nice innocent times. I never saw the movie.

  • from the 1969 film "The Sterile Cuckoo" with oscar winner Liza Minnelli.

BTW Sandpipers comeback hit of 1970

  • marvelous! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • Why isn't musiclike this made today...brings back memories of my teen years - which I will remember long after Saturday's gone.

  • I heard this song as a kid in the 90's. I think it was a tape

  • to harry,,just me and my friend,,love buffy

  • sigh

  • This was my final exam when i took voice lessons during college.

  • ang galing mong mag research ng mga kanta , galing !

  • Thanks very much for posting this! Brings back memories of a much less complicated time in my life! It was good to be able to escape back to that time for a couple of minutes!

  • I haved loved this song ever since i was a kid.

  • Thank you for posting this song! I really love it. Yes, we'll remember those long gone carefree Saturday mornings in the 70's!

  • Wasn't a big fan of the movie, but immediately WAS of this song -- the best part of the film, IMO. Lovely and haunting, w/ lyrics much above average.

  • NONELSEVERIC.

  • You know you can't even buy this song on ITunes or Amazon, at least by the Sandpipers. I wonder why. Can't even find it on an album

  • I found the song awhile ago on a CD called "Lite FM Love Songs from the Movies" released by Universal Music Enterprise in 2005. bought it at Best Buy. The song was the only reason I bought the whole CD. Greast song brings back childhood memories.

  • Super Hits of the Seventies Have a Nice Day Vol. 1

  • This is such a nice song, too bad it didn't make the top 10 back in 1970. I like the video presentation and the lyrics. Thanks very much for posting this.

  • Such a Beautiful Song!!! 5*s Thanks Freedomrider & crossover70s...Anita

  • this is beautiful babe x

thnak s for the posting huni!!!!!! xbabsie

  • thank you for posting this...these are Golden music in my book,,,just when you think you cant fidnsongs like these here anymore...i love it ! keep up the good work...

  • I was a radio DJ back then and remember this as one of those songs that was so different that it 'Stood Out' and was an oft requested number. Seldom do we hear this sort of vocal production value 'on-air' anymore as the C & W stations, Top 40 Networks outlets and others can't place this type of music in their rotations.

  • I want my love with me so bad, im not sure if i will makeit, if she could only understand that i am here and ready to put this thing back together and her the happiest girl ever and realize my weaknesses and correct them, i love her- tears

  • wow I used to have this song on an old A&M LP. Thanks for posting.

  • Beautiful song, still can see Liza Minnelli as Pookie Adams in the 1969 film "The Sterile Cuckoo" looking through the Bus window in the scene's finale as this song plays in the background, but left out last verse that's in the movie, "But everyone knows how a Saturday goes and so we'll move on, but we will remember long after Saturday's gone !

  • Great movie. One of the first times I ever went to a theatre.

  • After all these years I still love the movie and the song. I bought the movie a couple of years ago on the internet.

  • Thanks Crossover70s for this most excellent of tunage.

I never knew about the Carpenters turning this song down.

I can only imagine how Karen would have performed......i bet it would have been fantastic.

Been in love with this song since it first came out.

    Thanks and GOD BLESS

  • my pleasure MusicManDan... Godspeed...

    dokskii.

  • GOD's Speed to you as well my friend.

    Keep up the great work.

    Be water

  • Great carefree song! Takes me back to when I was a kid.I heard the Carpenters originally turned it down. The Sandpipers gain!

  • easy listening....like taking a drive and taking in the views, mmm, smell that clean air.Thankyou crossover70s.Great song & video.

  • Thanks for posting this song. something about listening to this on a rainy day especially that always puts me in such a refreshed mood.

  • Yeah, the song's from THE STERILE CUCKOO. The movie was sad, but I loved it.

  • In 1970 I was just leaving the navy and I love the movie and the song. Brings back a lot of great memories.

  • A beautiful song I remember from my childhood -beautiful video as well..

  • The childhood remembered in such a way

this song ranks a number one !

  • when my father and traveled for over 21 1/2 years we had plenty of come saturday mornings. my mother died when i was a baby.

  • Where did you guys go? Just curious?

  • we traveled to the states of fla., ariz., texas., new york city, utah, calif., wash.d.c., n.carolina, colorado, new orleans, la., mexico, alabama. he paid my way w/my college classmates to yellowstone park, london, england and honolulu, hawaii.

  • when my father and i

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • For Pussycat...Love, Nightowl.

  • Great relaxation song. Do you perhaps have the Mystic Moods Orchestra version of this song? Its done in an instrumental style with rain and thunderstorm sounds in the background. Very relaxing like the original.

  • Yes, alucard, I agree with you, the Mystic Moods Orchestra version is absolutely superb. Listening to that album conjures unending mental images, thunder, the dog barking etc. I have the vinyl version. Unfortunately, it is now useless from so many plays over the years.

  • I'm half tempted to buy some of the CD's via MP3 download off Amazon, mainly due to the high cost of the CD's in stores and my copy of Stormy Weekend and Nighttides on cassette is also worn out completely. I've listened to that tape since I was a baby according to my parents so for it to have lasted as long as it did is a miracle in many ways.

  • One of my favorites. I believe there is a lyric mistake in verse 2. I think they sing, "Dressed up in our rings and our Saturday things." That way it rhymes. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you, it's quite beautiful.

  • I love the ray conniff singers Version of this on The Love story Album

  • I have this on the Johnny Mathis album "Close To You" which was released in 1970.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank-you so much for this, Sandpipers and crossover70's. This has been saving my life since I first heard it as a young teenager in "The Sterile Cuckoo". Truthfully.

  • Please somebody post the Ray Conniff version also. I have it on vinyl -- very scratchy.

  • Dear Dokskii/repost,

    How come you re-posted it?

    .

    Just wondering.

    .

  • A beautiful song and beautiful pictures.

I have always thought of this song as being

about a boy and his dog. What do you think?

    Love your video!:)

  • bronte1987, thanks for your inspiration. I was searching for a song to call "our song" for my dog, Thumper, and me. I only get to see her on Saturdays (kind of a joint custody thing) and this song is perfect. Thanks again, and thanks crossover70s for the beautiful pix to accompany this beautiful song..."but we will remember long after Saturday's gone." I'd better go now, I'm starting to sniffle and it's only Thursday. See you in two and a wakeup, Thumper : )

  • I love it!

  • Good song, good pictures

  • Love this song and all your beautiful pictures. Thank you for posting this.

  • What a refreshing clip. This clip reminds me of a trip I took with a girlfriend, driving through the Lassen Forest on the way to Lake Tahoe. It was such a free and fun time. Great job! Thanks for posting this!
