If these Republicans are so scientifically illiterate, why should I trust their economic theories either? I'm still waiting for some of that trickle down.
Believing in something for which there is no evidence is called faith. Believing in something which has been disproved by evidence is called stupidity.
Chris Matthews usually seems smarter than he did here. He took the ID bait and swallowed it. This "news" is why partially science in the U.S. is losing funding. The "news" media is less interested in facts than they are controversy, so they bring on an ID fool to posit that ID and evolutionary biology are equally valid. This is not the case, and if MSNBC cared about reporting the news, they would have brought on a scientist to refute this ID nonsense.
Okay so there is not creator, then how do you explain mankind building society a prophet showing up a war and then the death of society, likewise how do you explain 2000 years ago you lost all advancement and used leeches for god sake for your healing 1800 years of crawling on the dirt no technology and bam in 200 years from the ground to space(which btw Jesus foretold) evolution don't work that way,up down up down, evolution only works one way from ground up,no repeats like mankind's history!
your comment indicates you are suffering a schizoid break or a seizure.
incidentally leeches are still being used for healing (science is a real miracle) and it so happens that evolution has brought creatures from the oceans to the land and back again (your "up down up down"). But no one confuses biological evolution with social evolution ("mankinds history") except the mentally infirm.
@1HumanKind Calling me names does not answer the question, answer the questions, anyone can throw names around, stop insulting me and answer the question, your a god right, you must be you claim to have all the answers, then educate me,explain, your not a very good teacher are you just a bully that's scared.
@1HumanKind also . But no one confuses biological evolution with social evolution ("mankinds history") except the mentally infirm. I sorry, but I thought all of our great discoveries in the biological evolution came because of society, you mean the hunter and gather tribes that we have now living the same as half human and half monkey that science claims we come from(except these hunter and gathering tribes look all human nowadays, can discover and map and do everything society can do
Even if what the guy said was true, who cares what the people believe. Most of them are proudly scientifically illiterate. So of course we need the scientists to at least make the U.S a little less of a laughingstock of the western civilization.
I recently learned that only 6% of scientists in the US are republican and I doubt that many of that 6% would agree with what Tom Tancredo has said in this interview. With such a small minority of scientists on their side, it's no wonder republicans are so out of touch with reality.
But of course, a scientist's job is to observe and uncover facts and if the facts don't line up with conservative ideology then it's probably better to dump the ideology.
No bastardization necessary. One merely needs to point out the fact that once DNA was sequenced, evolutionists counted their chickens before they were hatched. They called the large portions they didn't understand leftover "junk", others said we don't know enough to say and the "junk" hypothesis turned out to be itself "junk".
As to empirical fact, I've already pointed out and agreed to the extent that it is. There isn't much more there.
Should I answer or not? Ok. That is a lie. Either you're lying on purpose or you're completely ignorant of what either side has said. Try reading Richard Dawkins' avocation of "Junk DNA" from 2-3 years back to I don't know. He may still. Check richarddawkins . net .
Evolution deniers, as you call them, have nothing to gain from the idea of junk DNA and have only worked to debunk, evolutionist claims.
Sarah Palin is FUCKING SCARRY! HOT, but fucking scarry. She has no clue, no clue, she doesnt care about the environment, the people, the economy.. her only job, if she became President would be, to make sure the end of days happens. Press the Red Button and make sure Moscow fires back, make sure Israel and the entire middle east are in flames so that " Jesus " will return.. THAT IS SCARRY!
They are total anti-science, anti-education, and just cannot flat out be trusted. They want this country to be the Christian Saudi Arabia. Like the Vatican. Like Midieval Europe. They must be stopped at all costs!
No, but its true dude. The Republicans used to be ok with science, ok with secularism, ok with evolution... then came the Republican Revolution of '94, with Newt and his Brownshirts, and since that time... the Republican party, has been sooo far right wing its scarry. I know my History my friend,
Also geologists frequently study ancient rock samples with pockets of trapped atmospheric gas which show the earth currently has the lowest levels of atmospheric CO2 in 300 million years, that's going back past the dinosaurs, when the entire land mass of the planet was covered in jungle(diverse healthy plant life), and the ocean and land had the highest levels of biodiversity in the earths history, knowing this we should put more CO2 into the atmosphere if you like a healthy earth.
Chris Mathews is such a moron, global warming and cooling are caused specifically by times of increased or decreased solar output of the sun, if Co2 which plants breath is causing the problem, then why are the polar caps of Mars melting? and why are ice moons of jupiter now liquid seas?, answer that!!
"molecular biology has provided an even greater body of evidence...we know that they can all be traced back to one common root."
Phylogenetics has destroyed the myth of Darwin's "tree of life". What we actually see is a field of shrubs; i.e. the dog shrub with only dog species branching from a dog ancestor, the cattle shrub with only cattle species, etc...
This is closer to the Biblical idea of broad kinds that reproduce after their kind.
"we now have a robust understanding of genetics, and especially of population genetics. Speciation is complex and there all kinds of details that we don't fully understand, but it also is not doubted by scientists"
While we have a growing understanding of genetics, I wouldn't call it robust. Thanks to evolutionists, we thought the majority of the genome was junk. The Human Genome Project finally debunked that myth.
Now we're faced with the majority of the genome to decode.
But that myth dies hard. Even biologist, Dawkins referred to "junk-DNA" within the last year.
You would think he got the news that "junk-DNA" serves regulatory function to start with. But that's just scratching the surface.
The supposed 98.5% similarity with chimps is based on the assumption of "junk-DNA". The majority of differences are in regulatory sequences that render the supposed similarity meaningless.
I'll pick apart bluffs in this video in a different order than they were presented.

"When a developmental biologist compares the molecules behind the evolution of eyes in a sea anemone and a cow, he is describing macroevolution. We have scientific data out the wazoo on this one." - I'm sorry, which "molecules behind the evolution of eyes" are you referring to? Please site them specifically.
"No. We do of course have direct evidence of interspecies hybrids, we also have evidence of species evolving into new species."
No informed ID'er or creationist argues this. That species have minor or micro changes over time is not a debate.
The creationist will point to the term "kind" in the Bible. It is vague but cattle are offered as an example with the qualifier that they "will reproduce after their kind".
Cattle species from domestic breeds to buffalo to yak can all interbreed and produce new lines. Are buffalo technically a different species than domestic cattle? Well that depends on the zoologist because there are many definitions for the word species.
Darwin's claim is much more than minor changes that result in what appears to be a new species. He extrapolates the micro into macro unjustifiably. I'll touch on your "macro" proof after you respond.
If Buffalo truly qualify as a different species, they are still the same "kind" referred by the Bible. They reproduce cattle kind with other cattle kind whether domestic or wild
Kind may be more genus or family more than species..
I agree with you in the following: this show WAS pointless and neither side was able to represent their viewpoint intelligently. Although Tancredo was better. Matthews...can you spell CONFLATION?
He makes global warming and evolution the cornerstones of science; basically equating anything less then full acceptance of the orthodoxy a rejection of science. BS.
Your points, CommonReason, where they touched on science, were pure bluff.

Science is the secular religion of matter. Our scientific community lacks credibility because they don't include consciousness as critical to all investigative endeavours. Modern man appeared suddenly on Earth about 250,000 years ago. We are the product of genetic engineering, mixing an alien race with one of the four Earth indigenous hominid species. Our skin is much to soft and fragile to be native to the harsh realities of Earth. Our hips, knees and feet are a shoddy job of engineering.
No matter which religion you are born into, it is the one true religion. The function of religion is to keep us divided and to provide smug comfort for the believers. This works very well for our captors, who invented all religions and want us fighting with each other and believing stuff, we know isn't true, you know, faith. The people on this planet have been sucked in so deep that they don't know their asshole from their elbow. We are kept busy with nonsense and therefore miss the point.
