whoever wrote the bedouin don't use Oud is talking rubbish. The bedouin use whatever instruments they feel like, including Oud, there is no special dicatator telling them what they can or can not use. I can also tell you precisely the guys in this music clip are definitely using the oil jerry can, for the drum, which is wide-spread in bedouin music at present, which is not necessarily 'traditional' but is found practically everywhere now.
Congrats, you are right there is a oud in this music! You have that right but that's where it ends. The El Muzena Bedouin Tribe of Nuweiba, Sinai not Sudan have some of the BEST OUD musicians. I am living with the tribe for 12 years now and am at many a gathering where the oud is played. The oud is the local instrument with the tabla. (drum). Obviously you speak from no direct experience. I do however. You have never been here but decide what's played and what is not. Common and misinformed.
This is not Bedouin music, there is Oud in this song, and Bedouin do not use Oud. They use Rababah and premitive percussion and tribal vocals, thats all... The music you're hearing in this video is from Sudan, which is not even in the Middle East!
@TheFortyG I am an American bedouin. My father lived in his travel trailer and played guitar. He passed away when I was 19. My mother married her second husband who was 15 years older than her. We moved in with him when I was 8 years old. He had a travel trailer too. But it was on 5 acres of property and he had a fire pit. al hamdu lillahi rabbil alamin.
this is really good stuff.... thanks for the post!!
