Lol well herping is a little lucky at times. But if he means its always lucky then hes wrong, u do need lots of research and know where the snakes have been and the areas they are found. If what dylan ment by lucky then i would just go to alaska and flip over a rock and find a king cobra just laying there. Herping/herpetology involves lots of knowlegde and yes at times you do get VERY lucky. I saw 5 snakes today....4 being banded water snakes and one being a ribbon snake wicth i caught (2ft)

I have a strong feeling that your not as good as people may think you are. Someone who is trying to educate people about reptiles and amphibians wouldn't be having their gf in videos, using her as a lure to get more peole to see their videos. You don't even give any detailed information, about the herps that you encounter, that you couldn't get from a simple field guide. Don't go handling venomous snakes, if you don't have an extensive knowledge about them.

i completely disagree with you dylan.. alot. herping is some luck but mostly its knowledge and punishment. You have to know tips and know what to flip over or when to look for snakes or wheres the best place to go. Example. Your not going to find a snake under a soggy cardboard in the middle of a parking lot when its storming. Its also punishment because you NEVER find anything. Only about 1 in every 10 herping trips you find something that makes the trip worthwhile.

that happens with me too bill, it happened today, i looked under a big black tarp in a PERFECT habitat for snakes and then i found a baby northern watersnake in a window well!!! its CRAZY!!!!

doing reaserch helps to know where there likley to be but hes right it is luck one day you can be some where and look under a log... no snakes or any thing next day your buddy calls with a copper head from the same exact log its being in the right place at the right time

HAAHA Loved it, i totally agree. It is all luck. When you go out and are determined to find something specific you will never find it. When you go out to just herp that's when you find great things
