  • LOLOLOROFLxDDD

  • Long live Kaufman!!

  • is that the camera man laughing?

  • i cant imagine that these people eating were acting. only he and his partner.

  • he doesent seem that great..

  • @420MrMoJoRisin he doesn't seem--he is great. he is beautiful. he is so alive. i cant take him as dead

  • I love how you hear the voice say "Cut!" after.

  • "Cut" AWESOME. :)

  • first punk'd ever.

  • also a reference to the dumbwaiter. his comedy is multilayered, therefore the morons like joe rogan don't get it.

  • @martpast1 OK, maybe was a little too easily annoyed at time of comment, but do

now wonder why AK was once thought of so highly and widely enjoyed?? Fashions

& tastes are so very fluid, right?

  • @imnemigre look at ''I trusted you'' --always new people watching

  • @martpast1 OK, maybe was a little too easily annoyed at time of comment, but do

now wonder why AK was once thought of so highly and widely enjoyed?? Fashions

  • Funny thing is he really did this to people when he was famous and waiting tables.

  • @imnemigre it was not. and it is not. it's like in one moment it's not funny, but in another it's so funny as in real life. funny enough those people really didn't want to give their food back. it was just on the edge of patience.actually bravo for the cook.

  • @imnemigre and look at the rating. and listen to this chinese voice

  • 0:03

    Oh shit!!!!!!

    *head explodes*

  • " This is really annyoing, C'mon " lol

  • This is hilarious because of the reality of it.

Like for example - A Chinese restaurant:

They hover around you, and try to take your food.

I love this! Andy Kaufman is a genius, and hilarious and has what some people don`t know - A big heart (:

  • @BigCarreyKauffmanFan I totally agree 100% with what you said about Andy.

  • LOL this is hilarious HAHAHAHAHAH

  • Are you finished with your salad???

    Farewell, genius.

  • Leave him alone! How is he supposed to know the exact moment they're finished is he psychic?

  • haha xD

  • Put this on Bose speakers and crank it, it is the most hilarious shit EVER!

  • 1:12 "Are ya finished with ya salad?"

  • Andy really should have done more acting.

  • how on earth did those people not laugh

  • their actors

  • this is the best of all!

  • I wonder who that woman is laughing behind the camera at the end... it had to be fun to make these short films with Andy.

They all lost it during "Breakfast With Blassie" too.... when Zmuda puked on the table. Everyone behind the camera just dissolved w/laughter. XD

  • You can clearly hear her between 2:46 and 2:50, even without the volume all the way up. And you can tell it's coming from behind the camera.

  • Andy Kaufman thought of himself as a performance artist not a comedian. And I guess no one here has read the Idiot but uh let's just say it wasn't about idiots.

  • brilliant

and i think i remember reading somewhere that because this skit was improvised, and because the other character called Andy an idiot so many times, they decided to name this skit after the book after they filmed it.

  • is he really playing myshkin here? it's awkward

  • Are ya finished with ya saaaaaaaaaalad?

  • Besides the fact that this character suffers from some brain illness this has nothing to do with Dostoyevsky's book.

Yeah, I know, Mishkin sometimes started talking faster and faster, and that can be related with this character in the way he doesn't let people eat while he's trying to help, resulting in disgrace.

I'm not saying it it's badly done or not funny; I'm saying it could as easily be a portrait of the idtiot guy from Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men", and so many other idiots.

  • Well I don't think Andy was going for an Oscar. Just a bellylaugh.. which he got from me, definitely. It's #1 on my favorites.

  • This is Andy Kaufman, there´s nothing to do with literature, he was a comedian. The Dostoievsky title is just another prank. The real idiots take it seriously

  • Chill out dude. :)

  • He's right. Who the hell besides a total drag tries to intellectualize blatant comedy? lol

  • "The real idiots", "a total drag". I get it. Every argument needs its own little insult to back it up. Multiply this in billions and you'll have mankind. And I never said it wasn't funny, but that's not the point anymore.

  • Yes, I know it isn't, you've pretty much ruined the vibe....

  • Your vibe...

  • See, you don't even know when I'm kidding. I rest my case. hehe!

  • You got me there. Maybe I really felt to have ruined the vibe. Hehe.

  • Yeah, you really are a drag...

  • p.s. but you *are* a drag. ;-)

  • this is really good and hilarious... i love the manager =]

  • HAhahaahaha ARE YOU FINISHED??!?! This is really annoying in reallity right now... always when I'm not finished some one will come and ask xD JUST FREAKING WAIT TILL I LEAVE:..

Btw I think Borat is trying to copy a little of Andy. Also trying to do weird jokes in he borat movie with real people etc :p

  • I thought that about borat, like the new thing Bruno and he goes into a wrestling cage, etc.

but, nobody can be as great as Andy was/is.

We all love him, and he is missed so much.

thanks for uploading this, i've never seen it until today! ^_^

    Lots of love <3

    Ebony.

  • @Ebonykiss5 Andy was the best entainer ever. He was so very funny. I love & miss him too. I hope he's up in Heaven making the Angels laugh.

  • The fact that some people didn't get the joke and actually hated him was a victory to him. He considered himself a magician above all else. If he could fool you into believing he was serious, he won.

  • I know! Today he's pulling the ultimate prank.. making people believe he's alive.

    ;-)

  • Ha!

  • no. the prank is making people think hes dead! :P

  • Comment removed

  • YOU IDIOT, MISHKIN!

  • lulz

  • This is more like the Hunchback of Hollywood:D

  • I'm getting the feeling that if Neitzsche had lived for more philosophizing through the 70s and 80s, he would have absolutely loved Kaufman. The comedian embodies the same aura of misunderstanding that Nietzsche went through as a German Romantic Philosopher.

  • I really love his humor, it's a bit strange, but that's the beauty of it.

  • And then the big "Doooh! I'm in trouble now!" look on his face when he spills the plate and sees his boss coming... so hilarious. Andy's still the best.

  • Over the top genius!

  • LMAO! Are ya finished w/ya saaaaaaalaaadd?

  • Sorry, but it sounds like you're the real idiot here.

  • kaufman is my favorite entertainer of all time, and you hating that much makes him better in my mind.

  • What did he quit what he was the best in the world at to try another profession, did he cheat in comedy when he was already one of the best ever??? Respect his audience!! Did he piss on them or something, feminist jokes and southern jokes were all to get to see him get piledriven and break his neck, which I bet you watched over and over, and I can see why so many people hated him back then too, people took him way too seriously.

  • Philistine.

  • Actually I'm from Chicago.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  • This is performance art you culturally illiterate moron. He was challenging/insulting the stupidity of pop culture and the norms that people like you need to have to be entertained.

  • Excellent.

  • Poor Myshkin :(

  • this suck hard

    he ruined dostoevskys book

  • Don't forger that Andy never tried to be funny, he never claimed that what he was doing was comedy, it was quite the opposite actually.

  • Yup, he always stated: "I'm not a comedian."

  • On November 9, Andy Kaufman will hold a press conference in New Jersey.

    For more details visit

    andykaufmanlives

  • . . .

  • All great comedians had to find their niche- Andy had to find what worked for him.....He will always be remembered as a genius of comedy!

  • that was absolutely hilarious... i laughed for a while

  • Are u finished with your SALAAAD!LOL,Andy will forever love you!!!!

  • I guess Andy made this? It was definetely not comedy, however it was very interesting to watch. It started out with the ability to become comical but it left me on the opposite side of "funny". Interestingly enough, much of his work had the same feeling to me. I would say the he absolutely was brilliant. How many other actors/comedians can play with your emotions or mind like that? He had a gift. RIP Andy, wherever you may be.

  • BONERS

  • Hes not in the way you would calling light-comedy but he was a genius I think.

And its hard to understand If you german. ;)

    lol

  • Andys comedy was way ahead of his time.

  • Emperor's new clothes.

  • it's just like the book

  • hahahhhaaahhahahghahaa

  • You can still hear him saying "ok rolling" and "cut" at the beggining and end.

  • thanks for posting this. its hilarious

  • LOL. i dig.

  • I don't know why this is funny, it seems like an idea that some completely unfunny person would come up with. But I laughed forever. Must have been the voice.

  • I love that !!! it's simply nervous .. I can't stop laughing !

    Thanks for posting !

  • This just makes me laugh and laugh, like everything with andy

  • Nothing to do with Dostoevsky. Bringing up his name is not helping, really. Kaufmann is losing it.

  • the 70's where NOT funny

  • This is actually a fairly precise and accurate rendition of the book by Dostoyevsky...

  • explain why please

  • I can't believe Andy wanted to make a film based on Dostoevsky, I LOVE them BOTH!!!!OMG

  • He sounds funny but this is just too repetitive to be any good.

  • I always knew he had a great delivery; didn't know about his take-away. But genius? Don't make me laugh.

  • I believe the manager is Michael Richards..

  • looks/sounds more like Charles Fleischer

  • You may think that the restaurant is in NY, but no. It is L.A. I remember that restaurant and that bus boy -- I used to go there with my parents in the late 1970's. This same incident happened EVERY time we were there, (almost every Friday or Saturday). I watched TAXI, but I didn't connect this bus boy with LATKA -- I was fooled! My parents must have been fooled also, because they also watched TAXI, but did not mention anything ever, even though we were repeatedly shocked by such contretemps.

  • Just a senseless clownary of a bummer for other brutes.

I advise you guys to read Dostoevsky before leaving comments here.

  • OMG, it's Daxflame

    Without the shorts, anyway

  • i cant associate this with Dostoevsky's "Idiot."

  • Well intentioned, incompetant, and innocent.

    That's Dostoevesky's idiot, just retold.

  • what is this from?

  • it was intended to be shown as a clip from an "upcoming film" by andy on a letterman appearance. Letterman's producers decided it was too silly, and instead Andy showed a clip from The Big Chill.

  • this is really good and hilarious... i love the manager =]

  • i think the manager was in on it lads

  • Boy, Andy is so funny lol.

I would say that the idiot on here is that manager, I would have something to say to him if I was in that resturant.

  • Very good

  • This looks like that Hollywood deli where he bussed tables.

I've seen footage of him bussing and he did this to customers sometimes. The server would just set down their orders and before the customers could so much as lift their forks Andy would take their full plates of food away.

  • where did you see these? I would like to as well.

  • I'm working on uploading it. It's on his Midnight Special video. You might be able to find it somewhere yourself in the meantime. But I'll let you know when I get it loaded anyway.

It's not a laugh riot really, but it's fun to watch.

  • Okay. Awesome! :-)

  • He was just showing his sensitive side, and he got kicked out. How sad. Those people were too food aggressive.Shame on them.Skinny people are never jolly.

  • I've seen much better from him, but still got a decent laugh out of this.

  • does anyone know anything about this video? like when it was aired, what show etc...

  • I love anything Andy does

  • i think th eandy kaufman videos are the most disputed and argued videos on youtube. it's funny.

  • gawd, that waiter is clueless! -- but did the manager really have to be that cruel? -- isn't he responsible in part for having put this incompetant person in a position that he isn't really suited for? -- this sure can be a harsh world sometimes

  • the. perfect. comment.

  • awesome, i don't have to read the book now!

  • Are you finished with your salaaad? ..love Andy!

  • pissed my pants

  • As you can tell, this wasn't edited. The entire take from when a director says action to when he says cut is not going to be as funny as a finished, edited piece. Still, Andy was amusing and a much better actor than anyone else in the scene.

  • Hahahah, where did you find this?

  • check mY page for the Philosophy Of Dostoyevski in Music...

  • To me this is funny because they really do that to me when i am eating in the restaurants. "let me take that"

  • I find it almost tragically sad.. I think Andy meant it to be that way.. people with a heart, touching.. Andy had a heart too so does the character played..

  • Why do I feel like I'm watching Jerry Lewis. I guess Andy had his off days too. I still love him.

  • whoolalahwhoolilee?

  • not the best. but it was good to see Andy Kaufman. I was actually looking for the 1910 version of "The Idiot"

  • Quote: "This really has nothing to do w/ Dostoevsky's novel at all"

Well, that's the funny thing about it!

  • unique is the only work to desribe this guy

  • It's funny when he's badgering other people. But to be honest, if I didn't know him or his "performances", I'd probably clock him.

  • yea right dude you probably haven't punched a single person without getting beat up

  • poor . i love andy but this is shit.

  • what are you talking about? This is like the funniest thing I've ever seen him do

  • hahaha this is great

  • "Myshkin! What are you doing? What are you doing Mishkin?! You idiot! You Idiot! Mishkin You're an idiot! You spilled the food on the customer!"

  • ah, Dostoyevsky. the MAD russian.

  • he's overrated

  • Shut up fool.

  • I agree.

  • andy kaufman is the most inspiring person i have ever found in my life. he's the most different and ununderstandable person to ever reach television and his guts are not something to be noted over his creative flow. Fears didn't bother him in his live performance as he knew what he was doing he enjoyed. It's what you think that matters not anyone else. But he was so on the right lines with his material that anyone questioning it would not let themselves enjoy unless they knew why they were.

  • YouTube ─ Broadcast Yourself™

  • This is funny, but worst impression of Myshkin ever. This really has nothing to do w/ Dostoevsky's novel at all :(

  • like Nabokov he wanted layering to his art the depper you went, the more lost you became and i'm sure this is what he wanted.

  • Andy rules. I'm still learning from his great ability to annoy people for his own personal amusement.

  • Andy was beautiful in that he made the unreal, real. He could take what was least likely and make it what he most often did. Just to mess with you. Life is not so bad. If you can have your *worst* fear mocked and taunted, eventually you'll have it in ya to tell the guy "hey man, back off". At first he will say "gee, sorry" and wait before he starts again. Be ready for next time and have a pie waiting for his face. He'll love ya for it.

  • Andy rules.Either people get it or they don't.Nobody makes me laugh like him...fearless.

  • Apparently I didn';t get it I found him totally annoying and really unfunny!!!

  • that's the point.

  • I understand what your saying, there is all types of comedy. But see if your a comedian, your to make others laugh. He just was annoying to me. And he never made me laugh. EVER.

  • but he never claimed to be a comedian. EVER. :D

  • yup - Andy Kaufman was not a comedian. if you're annoyed by him, he's happy. the only way you can come close to understand what he was doing is to accept the notion that he's TRYING be annoying and unfunny.

  • He was and he also was just plain annoying, untalented and stupid!

  • THANKYOU!!!!!!!! i totally fuckin agree, dude! this guy was soooooooooo WHACK!!!

  • THANK YOU!!!! I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT WAS SO "GENIUS" about him. His "act" was stupid, unfunny and nothing short of pure idiocy. It's still a shame he passed so young.
