i was an N64 fanatic (mainly Goldeneye), but i remember i was in 8th grade, and played this demo at Target....i got a playstation and Metal Gear for Christmas that year lol.
I just wished that they made MGS3, so that you could pick up your enemies weapons. OSP(On-Site Procedure) right? So why cant i knock a soldier and take is AK? Still a good game, but just a mechanic i wanted to know

When everything had to make you feel like when you played the game, you were some doofus playing a video game, and not just enjoying something, or experiencing a work of digital art. This commercial is so completely (and intentionally) the opposite of the theme and tone of the MGS series. Its a blatant and unfunny parody of the series. Why did commercials back then seem to have to make fun of, and belittle the game they were trying to sell?

The games sold well and have been cited as some of the best games in history. I think these trailers had a part to play in that.

I think commercials are what turns me off about modern games now a days. During this time, they incorporated humor, almost as if they were parodying the very game they were promoting. Games like "Super Smash Bros" "WWF Smack Down 1 & 2" "Crash Bandicoot" "Spyro The Dragon" had some hilarious commercials. Now it's all about the graphics :/

@orangeTadpole I've seen many that are made in this fashion. What disturbs me the most is the totally misplaced setting the ad conveys. Snake's not a soldier, the game is not all about blowing up and getting blown up like in the last shot derived from the Raven cutscene. And in total, there's few in game footage. It just wouldn't remind me of MGS in any way if those few cutscenes weren't there. Nice piece of nostalgia, though.

yep, i got a Playstation(original), a PS2 & PS3. And they all still work & at a good condition. Although it's been a while since i used both of my ps & ps2 since i can play all games in PS3.

mgs1 is the best game there ever was for the old ps1, i still have it and play it occasionally even though i have the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th metal gears, the first one is still just as good i say.
Somehow this commercial was the reason I bought a psx 10 years ago, and I've been playing MGS ever since. I guess it was a good in a catchy way, but I think Kojima had nothing to do with this production. MGS4 intro commercials are how he would do it...
No, it's brilliant advertising, or at least it was back in the days of N64-PSX. It got people interested in the game to the point of buying it, instead of offering depressing, cryptic hints at the storyline.
I think MGS4 fixed the Raiden problem. Best PS3 game I've played. Play MGS3 and MGS4. MGS3 is like an old school MGS1, MGS4 is in its own class... best game ever...
Imo, MGS2 had a better gameplay than Snake Eater, or at least the environements in which you played were better adapted to stealth-ing, rather than standing on the ground and changing color. I also thought that it had a better story.
I udnerstand why you like 2 better but for some reason i like 3 a little bit better. Of course i probably like 4 best, and 3 second best but they are all really great and i love them all. I think it might be because i had played Snake Eater actually before any of the others and i just like naked snake lol
some of wat u say is true silentloler ( by the way clever name) but MGS1 is better than MGS2 for 3 reasons 1. MGS1 had a better kick-ass storyline 2. in MGS1. you can fight a tank and have awsome sniper battles and fight a CHOPPER 3. MGS1 doesnt have a whiny gay guy like RAIDEN so gay you actually get to stay snake through the whole game and not just 15-20 mins or so ( raiden was better in MGS4 ill give him that)

No, it's brilliant advertising, or at least it was back in the days of N64-PSX. It got people interested in the game to the point of buying it, instead of offering depressing, cryptic hints at the storyline.

I think MGS4 fixed the Raiden problem. Best PS3 game I've played. Play MGS3 and MGS4. MGS3 is like an old school MGS1, MGS4 is in its own class... best game ever...

Imo, MGS2 had a better gameplay than Snake Eater, or at least the environements in which you played were better adapted to stealth-ing, rather than standing on the ground and changing color. I also thought that it had a better story.

I udnerstand why you like 2 better but for some reason i like 3 a little bit better. Of course i probably like 4 best, and 3 second best but they are all really great and i love them all. I think it might be because i had played Snake Eater actually before any of the others and i just like naked snake lol

I agree with you that the gameplay for MGS2 is better than MGS3, because MGS2 is just like the first one, but the story in MGS2 was stupid.

some of wat u say is true silentloler ( by the way clever name) but MGS1 is better than MGS2 for 3 reasons 1. MGS1 had a better kick-ass storyline 2. in MGS1. you can fight a tank and have awsome sniper battles and fight a CHOPPER 3. MGS1 doesnt have a whiny gay guy like RAIDEN so gay you actually get to stay snake through the whole game and not just 15-20 mins or so ( raiden was better in MGS4 ill give him that)

yeah hey well let you play as snake for 10 percent of the game and then well let you play as raidien this guy that complains the whole game through. I didn't even try to beat that game more then once

What kills me most is the entire review and magazines had said nothing about Raiden.
So when you finally get the game and got through the first act you didn't know what was going on.
Kojima should stick to making games, games and not anime.
