I've always wondered what caused the dinosaurs to become so huge. If you think about it, dinosaurs could have existed in smaller form. Was it due to the unceasing predatory competition that they assumed such a large body mass or was it due to some other factor like high concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere during this period which enabled such large bodies and the plants that fed them to thrive?

The Mammoth (0:50) and Dimetrodon (2:22) have nothing to do with dinosaurs. They evolved separately and lived millions of years apart.
I can also see marine reptiles and pterosaurs in this video. They weren't dinosaurs either but they were contemporaries at least.

I've always wondered what caused the dinosaurs to become so huge. If you think about it, dinosaurs could have existed in smaller form. Was it due to the unceasing predatory competition that they assumed such a large body mass or was it due to some other factor like high concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere during this period which enabled such large bodies and the plants that fed them to thrive?

@ChannelingusIV The largest animals who ever existed are alive today. They're called "whales". But, I think the dinosaurs became so huge because there was an evolutionary arms race. The prey animals became larger for defensive purposes. Naturally, the predators followed suit. It likely went on for millions of years. During the time of the dinosaurs, it is likely that there was a high concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, due to all the volcanic activity. This is all speculation, though.

@ChannelingusIV at the time of the dinosoars there was a very high level of oxygen so animals systems (nervous,respiratory,etc.)could grow bigger also around that time the millipedes were somewhere around 6 feet and scorpions were the the size of wolfs because of the same reason there was a very high level of oxygen

So you had a few things that weren't dinosaurs. Mammoth, the Pterasaur, the dimetrodon, the ancient crock you had with the sail was not a dinosaur, and the ocean creature with fins was not a dinosaur.
