Like I said, sorry to keep bothering you, but I was just wondering if there are any updates yet. Possible price, time, ect. I really like this mask and I was hoping to wear this mask at an event I am going to this summer and was wondering if that was going to be possible. Otherwise I may have to start working on another possible costume.
We are in the process of remastering right now. Cold weather keeps us from working as fast as we might normally. There will be a delay, but it won't be stopped. All I ask is that folks be patient.
@darthmovado Do you know possibly how much these will run in price? And will they have a casted in mesh around the holes to help prevent tearing like some silicone masks?
I know its only JUST after the 1st of the year, but this is an awesome mask and I am very anxious (I Don't mean to be a bother). So I just have to ask if your getting close to doing a run of these.
I hope you decide to make more of these I would love to buy one for halloween next year or even to make a short fanfilm with it! Much more efficient than a latex prosthetic with painful spirit gum.
Yes, there will be a small run done of these masks. The mask you see above is a prototype. The final master is currently in production and we'll have something tangible for an offering around the first of the year. Your ideas of a fan film sound really cool.
The price is yet to be set. There is about $200.00 worth of materials in the mask itself. That doesn't include the time it takes to prep the mold, mold release, painting it, etc. A final price will be set when we do the master run. I appreciate your interest.
The clasp is a custom sculpt out of clay and cast in resin. The cloak was a custom job a seamstress friend of mine made after we learned the actual material used (Waffle Weave Pique). She used the screen shots as a reference and then built a pattern. The can (not shown) is the MR cane cast from the movie molds. All in all, this is the most custom hand made suit I own.
Thanks folks for the compliments. We did this pretty much like a standard latex mask by starting with a sculpt, then doing an outer mother mold of plaster followed by an inner silicone mold. When that was good, we poured using EcoFlex 30, a plyable silicone rubber. I'll be posting a detailed making process in a bit.
Wow great job where I can buy this mask??

The sculpting of Palpatine is a pain in the ass! I'm thinking about reattempting him soon! Got bigger work to do first!
That mask is great! I WANT ONE!!!! Would save me hours making a Glass Fibre mould and sculpting!

If you were to sell it....How much would you sell it for?
66DarthSidious 2 years ago
that thing would at least go for around 200.
