nice one mate will have to try doing that on the conering. Some great sound advice you have got for a guy who has just passed there motorbike test:). Your star fella :). Enjoy your bike matey and ride good hope to keep in contact with you mate to see how your bike and biking life is getting on
@thearborist87 i rode my friends gs500f for a day. it wasn't as nimble as my 250 and not much more faster. sure it had more torque but the top end sucked. airl/oil cooled, 2 valves/cyl derives itself from the late 70's gs450. really old tech. but if u love it, by all means ride it!
hey mate im actually goning to get a suzuki gsx1200 in a few month time:). I do love my gs though it is a great bike and she sounds nice to i love the sound of twins wether it be v or parralel. I know the gsx1200 is inline 4 DOHC so they will be pretty nimble and rather quick
thank's for the advice mate really good advice :)im really pleased with it. Im not to sure i was just wanting a more beefy grunt to it. Wouldnt mind some more performance out of her though but still she does 155 tops :)
155 KM/hr = just shy of 100 mph? Not bad for a 500 twin. Local guys (Minnesota) race GS-500's in ultra-lights with decked heads for more compression and Vanson exhaust systems. I think top speed is still only +10 mph or so,and some have to use race gas (high octane) to avoid detonation. More trouble than its worth for a road bike. Learn to carry more corner speed and you can whip most wankers on 600's and liter bikes on the street ;-)
@thearborist87@thearborist87 u got 155 out of ur gs500? stock? my stock 250 would run 160 stock. my 250 with full exhaust and pod filters and my own set up for the carbs does a speedo indicated 170 -7% error = 158km/h. my friends stock gs went about 185km/h theres definately something wrong with ur 500. and i think u should sell it too they're terrible.
hello ntmatr you seem a good guy yo ask my question as you seem really good with taken bikes stock sytems off and putting aftermarket ones on. Could you please tell me i just bought a faired suzuki GS-500 and it has a stock system on it. Could you reccomend me an aftermarket system and also can you put aftermarkets on GS 500's??? cheers fella if you can help me many thanks ben
That's tough. Are you looking for better sound or better performance? A slip-on will give you the sound, but it will take a full system and either rejetting of your carbs or messing with the fuel injection to get it to run correctly. If you want a full system and you want to maximize the horsepower you'll need to have someone dyno-tune it for you, which can run $500 or so. Is there a good GS500 message board out there you can consult? Some has to have dealt with this issue. Good luck!
Yes. The Leo Vince muffler has it's own mounting system that you need to use, so you must remove the OEM stuff first. And to get to that you need to remove the fairing.
sorry for the bad english i'm italian....but after you install he slip-on the motorbike doesn't need a type of different ricarburation or can just install it by yourself and go??....have any increase of hp?
Yes, the bracket came with the muffler. It's not a really good design, frankly, and if you're at all handy you can probably do something that's both sturdier and more attractive.
Wow, that looks horrible.. Youve now turned your sportbike into a honda civic. Sounds better than stock but looks wayyyyyyyy worse. Tacky at best. How much did you pay for that? 5-600 hun??? and how much power did it make over stock, 2-3hp? Pipes are among the biggest rip offs you can take part in. I apologize in advance for being a hater, but I'm really just a truth teller.
I paid $150-ish on clearance. I actually ended up selling it to a buddy because the drone it made on the highway was annoying. Powerwise, I had it dynoed at Wheeler's at Deal's Gap and it made 118 horsepower, but take that with a grain of salt 'cause it was an uncalibrated run. I just posted it in case someone was interested in what the Leo Vince sounded like.
Well you got the super sweet deal of a lifetime and my helmets off to ya for that. I would've bought one too for that price... but you you know what I was getting at right?... I mean some guys pay upwards of a G for pipes and they don't make squat on the dyno, you can have 1500 or better for full system and mapping and what do you got... 10-15hp realistically?? Hey man again, respect. After rereading my post I realized I kinda looked like a dick, you took it like a champ. Good post.
Yup, slip-ons are just for bling. And that 10 - 15 horsepower from a full system is all at the top of the RPM range, too. Plus, you'll only realize that if you pay extra to have a tuner set-up the FI system for you. It makes sense for racers and track-day riders, but not really for the street.
I try not to take this internet stuff too seriously ;-)
The stock sounds louder at a rev. But the leo Vince sounds louder at idle.

You must take off rear fairing to install new exhaust?
Thanks

Your english is much better than my Italian :)
Because the slip-on still has the same headers and mid-pipe (the pipes coming out of the engine) the mixture didn't need to be adjusted.
I did do a dyno-run at Wheelers (at Deal's Gap) and pulled 118 horsepower. That was a one-time non-corrected run, so take it for what its worth.

dude is that bracket you have around the leo vince that your signals are mounted 2 come with the exhaust??? if not, where did you get it???
