  • I love the grade crossing with the SEPTA streetcar!

  • this is the coolest train set i have ever seen good work i love it

  • Really nice setup but I sure wish the cameraman would move slower so I could take in all the detail. Otherwise very nice. Pete

  • Wow! Great layout and video!!

  • awesome

  • Does Bruce have his own web site?

  • Nice!

  • Lol MINOR passenger car derailment

  • When are his operating sessions?

  • @Applachia0928 I have no idea, sorry I can't be of any help.

  • nice layout and great job

  • Amazing!!! Really Amazing!!

  • dude awsome job this is the most epic layout ever great job.. r u going to do some more videos.

  • @mustanger041 I keep mentioning this, this isn't my layout, this layout belongs to a friend of mine. I would like to do a follow up video, but he lives in Delaware and I live in California, so it's not exactly easy for me to post any newer videos. Bruce does have a YouTube channel, search for his name, or any associated videos that correspond to mine, I don't know how often he adds newer content, but he'd surely upload anything before I do. Hope this helps, cheers.

  • dude awsome job this is the most epic layout ever great job..

  • Amazing! Just amazing layout!

  • so fucking AWESOME!!!!!!!! subbed.

  • What state is this great Csx layout located in? And what is the distance of the isles on the left and right of the autorack terminal? Thanks!

  • @RustBeltRailroad The layout is located in Delaware, it's based on the actual CSX route from Wilmington, DE to Baltimore, MD, and Philly is modeled along the way, he's modeled a branch line, it's a well thought out layout. The aisles are quite wide, I think at it's most narrow portion, perhaps 3' in width and that's a guess as it's been a year since I visited so I don't remember every detail.

  • such an awesome model.... btw whr can i get these locomotives...?

  • how long didi it take to build this?was it hard to do? oh and can you have more then one locomotive on one track? like if they were not attched to eachother?

  • @breyernakotalover Can't say, not my layout, Bruce would be the best one to answer said questions.

  • I recognize that area athe beginning, that tunnel is based on Greys ferry tunnel and the bridge is the one that crosses the sckullkyll river through west philly

  • 1:03 I've been drinking too! LOL!!

I personally learned that drinking and airbrushing don't work well together...

Great layout! Thanks for posting this.

  • I myself only have room for a very small HO Scale Layout I am working to complete. Years ago, I was a member of Wentworth Institute's Model RR Club.

  • I have a question, Where can I find those buildings that you put up to the walls, and what website do you order your supplies and trains from.

  • @Jaycebohr This is not my layout.

  • nice layout

  • what an amazing layout! simply incredible!

  • im from england and im very much impressed i im using some of the walthers conerstone kits that you guys have over there on my layout

  • Very nice job, would like to see your garbage train run !

  • hey, where is this layout at, and is it open to the public. i love it, its probly the best ive ever seen

  • I love your layout. It's beautiful I wish I had the room talant and money to build something like this.Unfortunatly I don't all I have is the time. Please check out my Sisters train and mine @ colonypark1986 right here on you tube.Thank You for posting such a wonderfully made layout.Be watching for my Burlington Northern coming soon as I just got my computer back up and running.

  • Hello, what is the class of loco's 9999 and 9998 ? COOL LAYOUT, BTW!

  • Did anyone else notice that the first train we see has cars with their bogies off the track?

  • @aminesix That was the first train I started filming when shortly after I got to his place, and others had been going around the layout flawlessly. So this one comes off the helix, and you could hear it bouncing a long the track, so after myself and my friend I came with pointed it out, problem fixed and things ran fine from that point on.

  • @aminesix Also notice right after that Bruce says, "I've been drinking too... "

  • @aminesix perhaps a treat for the VIP.s on the Derail Limted! A great layout and a great clip! :)

  • @aminesix They call them trucks in the US and Canada :)

  • @aminesix How could anyone not notice ? LOL

  • @aminesix yeah

  • @aminesix i did hope he has a good bit of rearailers along the layout lol

  • I just thought of this do you think HO scale trains and a few 1-64 scale vehicals go together?

  • I love model railroad and have been working on my own 11X9 layout which is built on a rolling table that can be broken down if I ever move. I just cant imagine building something like this in my house. First, I'd spend so much time on it that I wouldn't have time for work, family, and traveling...That said, your layout is kick ass!

  • man that is one amazing layout you got bud

  • looks great!

  • upgrade to dcc for 100 bucks with everything you have on this layout now thats funny.

  • Questin Im starting to do model layout stuff with trians and Im wondering is there a specific track for the engines and cars or does it not matter?

  • @THELIFEISGOODGPM My advice to use is use good quality track, and go quality turnouts, there is nothing wrong with using the Atlas Code 83 line of products, or the Walthers Code 83 line of products, the latter will be a bit more expensive than Atlas, but you yield good results. A shop owner once told me "you spend such good money on high quality locomotives & cars, why not invest the same amount on the track" and you know I never thought of it until that point, I was much younger than.

  • @fjcaron Im asking because i might get the EZ Track because its 50bucks for 50 9in tracks and I on amazon there is a sweet BNSF I want like I said this is all new and idk how to do it.plus im only 15 so dont have much money

  • @THELIFEISGOODGPM I understand, Atlas makes a similar type of track like Bachman EZ track, so look into that as well as an option.

  • @fjcaron Alright will do,thank you for helping me figure out some stuff and great videos and layout. What size is it and what would be a good size to start out with to make a small train depot, houses, factory, roads, and woods?

  • @THELIFEISGOODGPM Your welcome, always happy to help younger folks getting into the hobby. I don't know what size that layout is, as it's not mine, but there is a web site for his layout, just type in Bruce Friedman's CSX HO Layout on Google, you should find a link for his site. For yourself I recommend a 4x8 sized layout if you have space, or 5x10, etc.

  • @fjcaron Ok thank your help and he does have a great layout.

  • @THELIFEISGOODGPM also look at what kato has it looks very good and realistic (track i mean) and when it comes to rolling stock and engines. pick what you want, but before ask someone who knows and they will help you out to tell you if its good or not. also athearn makes good quality locos and rolling stock, and most are dcc ready. you might think that dcc doesn't matter but some day you will switch to dcc and dcc ready is much easier to convert (pluging in a decoder) hope it helps happy rr

  • @jbrailphotography ok thank you

  • @THELIFEISGOODGPM dont use easy track stuff.

  • @clay9280 ok i wont ill use the code 83 instead

  • Someone needs to let him in on what Intermountain's going to be doing: HO scale autoracks with opening doors, decks, and etched metal sides!

  • wow great layout buddy...alot of time and effort went into it.....excellent work bruce

  • Man you gotta go back and get another video...this layout is awesome

  • This probably the best layout I've ever seen.

  • is it dcc

  • @428trapay it's all dcc, sound equipped, and even computer driven with the signals and blocks being computer driven like the prototype dispatching system as the csx uses.

  • I really enjoyed the video I plan to check out all of your videos.I LOVED IT!

  • @cbnut81 FYI, they all aren't train related or model railroad related, but there are some in there, thanks for your comments, most are firearms related, I also do 1/35th scale military models, such as tanks mostly and I have two 1/16th R/C, the current one being worked on is a German Leopard 2A6.

  • okay im 13 and need help trying to find a good site to get accesorices like background, vehicals like trucks trailers cars etc, and what not please send me a message

  • @peterbilt1080 Go on Walthers.com they have everythig and you can send for their flyer(Catalog)or try ebay.com in the information bar type in model trains then click on model rr trains then click HO Scale you can set it for US only and 2000 miles from your home.

  • Well I thought about being a smartass and saying "i really like your layout" but i figured that I would let you know that I'm glad you filmed your friend's layout, he has done an amazing job on it. Just out of curiosity, what is the size of the layout?

  • @nawrock LOL, yeah I've heard it time and time again on that. Anyways, just a guess, perhaps 50 x 50 if I had to guess, but that ma not be correct.

  • @fjcaron wow eh that is huge. Well mine isnt that large, its only 28' x 18' 3 levels and in the works. Cheers

  • @nawrock I had hoped to build my own someday, 25 x 37 x 3 levels with an addition of 12 x25 x 2 levels and a intermediate section of 10 x 10 x 2 levels, but alas i'm settling for a switching layout, U-shaped in a 16x18 shaped room x 2 levels with a nice lavatory built in with a closet, can't complain it's better than none, but I'm happy with that space as I've built in there before and it will work. I've given up on the huge dreams and settled on small switching which is my main desire, cheers.

  • Hey buddy, me and my son just watched your layout and were thrilled with the layout and the neat, clean appearence of it. It sure do have taken 8 years to bring your ideas to reality. well keep me posted when you do another change or addition to the layout. keep up the good work

  • @anarwal73 Well thanks, but I want to make others and yourself aware this isn't my layout, it is a friends layout named Bruce Friedman, I was visiting him and he allowed for me to video tape and take stills of the layout, I've had several think it was mine, I sure wish it was, but I haven't the space at the given to do so. I am glad though that folks like the video so much, I'm sure Bruce is happy that folks like his layout so much, he's a really great guy and a really friendly tour guide.

  • Is that a homemade SantaTrain?

  • el barto was here

  • how old were u when u started model rr

  • @btafire2 Myself I started when I was about 13yrs old, I'm 39yrs old now. I don't know when Bruce started, probably when he was young like myself.

  • @fjcaron i am 12 now and me and my dad have just started with th trains in HO scale :P today we might be puttng in the mountain and other vegation :) (i am kinsda the landscaper in my family :D) but i ahve a question, can you run two or more locomotives ( not sure if thats spelled right) on one track?

  • This is one bad-ass layout my friend. The eye for detail on this layout is a thing of beauty. I also love that Home Depot! Who ever built it did one Hell of a job! Fantastic video as well. Thanks for sharing this, you've given me a few ideas for my own layout.

  • Easily one of the best layouts in the world!

  • Nice layout but does the cameraman have to go around 5:05? LOL

  • your layout is awesome i wish i had that much stuff but your layout looks like it would be fun to run

  • @fillman57 I have to keep telling folks, this isn't my layout, it belongs to a friend Bruce Friedman, just to clarify.

  • Have any GE C30-7 2 windows?Because I have one.

  • great layout!

  • any on ebay

  • at 4:24 it shows an auto rack loader was it kitbashed or a kit it looks (same for the loader at 5:54 ki or kitbashed) that auto rack yard in 5:54 is otstanding best one i've ever seen it looks so realalistic, awesome as well as the layout! *****-bnsf9842

  • @bnsf9842 I believe those loaders/unloaders are walthers kits that came out several years ago. Bruces layout is just amazing, to see it in person is even more amazing, glad you enjoyed the video.

  • at 4:24 it shows an auto rack loader was it kitbashed or a kit it looks awesome as well as the layout! *****-bnsf9842

  • ☆☆☆☆☆

  • This has to be the best train layout I've ever seen. I live in South Philadelphia.

  • @lthalastdon I was in Philly for six days and stopped over to visit Bruce to see his layout, he's just in the next state over DE.

  • I must mention that the industries are top notch, especially the BIDS terminal and the contract car repair shop. Certainly beyond the norm!

  • Dude! Bravo on the layout. Nice to see what can be done with modern image equipment. I especially liked the Home Depot, is it kitbashed?

  • @trainsbybob A friend of Bruce's who is an architect I believe commented that he needed one on his layout and offered to build it, it is built from scratch.

  • @fjcaron at 0:33 was that ur cleaning train it look like it does everything in one pass

  • Dude! Bravo on the layout, really nice to see the modern image euipment. I especially like the Home Depot model, is it kitbashed?

  • Absolutely amazing..the detail is incredible.excellent work..Dartmouth,Nova Scotia

  • That's an awesome layout Bruce has. Just one question, did CSX ever own any F40PH's? Did they ever own a passenger train too? Just curious.

  • @trainster100 Yes they own F40PHs from Amtrak as they do the passenger cars for their business (corporate) trains that tour the system, everything he does on his layout is 100% to date and current, as things change he will reture equipment and replace it with the current stuff, it's really a great system.

  • That's a great setup. I met a guy last year who has his entire basement all like that and he has ships and boats he makes by hand every piece and they look perfect. One was a Destroyer.

  • This has got to be the best HO layout that I have seen in a private residance!

  • lol you better dread that river its going to flood the bridge hehe.

  • Absoposilutelytively amazingly great layout!

  • awesome work probably the best layout i've seen on here in some time nice work!

  • thats beyond amazing

  • Frank, while you were walking around filming, do we hear the locos idling? If so, very cool!

  • @Highspeed110 Yes, the decoders have sound modules built in.

  • @Highspeed110 Or I should say that you can also add sound modules for those that have none included, but most these days include them.

  • This is a top notch video Frank! Great job! It was great meeting with you and visiting Bruce's layout last weekend!

  • Dang. That's really impressive. I can't even imagine putting that much time, effort, and I'm sure...lot's of money to build something like that. Very cool.

  • That is a nice collection.

  • I Live Right Next To The Russell Rail Yard So I See The Real Thing Every Day. My Grandfather Worked On Trains As A Carman At The Raceland Car Shops

  • @KyQuartermasters Very cool, I was the first in my family to work for the railroad, shame that only lasted 10yrs, but it was fun while it lasted.

  • what a train set lol. That's amazing

  • Absolutely Amazing!

  • Pretty cool man, you have to give credit to someone who can spend that much time out of their life on one project.

  • You should subscribe to DoctorTankEngine he has awesome looking scale trains and ways to make them more realistic.

  • wow so much detail in your explanation...i just always thought they were cool to look at, i used to build plastic models as a kid, but i never got into THAT much detail

  • wow! good job.
