@poinkero Actually, Les used recording at half speed as a way to get octave effects; a lot of his ridiculously high passages couldn't be achieved otherwise at the time. Now, when you use a pitch shifter pedal to play sounds an octave higher than the guitar can reach, you're actually copying the more natural technique of recording at half speed.
One of the many tricks guitar players take for granted that wouldn't have been possible without Lester Polfus. ;)
I remember seeing a vid of him ion music class. I thought "Damn he can play!". A week ago I wanted to find a vid of him playing guitar but I forgot again. Today I got to wikipedia were it said he passed away yesterday... And nobody even talked about it to me... Unbelievable. He was a GREAT player and inventor, even to this day.
There are not enough words to describe my immense appreciation, respect, and love for this man. God, what an influence he was and is to so many. I play on a Les Paul guitar and have recorded on mutlitrack recorder - none of which would be possible without this man. God Bless you Les! And to quote one of his great tunes, 'Vaya Con Dios'.
I grew up in the 50s listening to Palu on the radio and I am impressed to see upir videos about him. Great work and a great musician. There will never be another quite like him. Unique sound even today!
Absolutely one of the finest guitarists the world will ever know. A rare genius of the same caliber as Edison,Tesla , etc. that has been one of the most innovative minds in music since Mozart himself. Thanks for sharing!!
at 5:57 it is unrefutable that the song was sped up. That note doesn't go that high on any guitar,

Nobody would hear music 'like this' until the 80's.... It almost sounds like Mario.
So good to know that he is still recognized today, though mostly through the company. Beautiful guitarist.
Thanks for posting!

I know patti page did a bunch of multi tracking in her vocals.
But not sure of the timeline.
Did she adopt it due to les' lead?

The word you're struggling to find is "Affected". "Effected" means something quite different.
