A very strong and powerful voice. I am sure the Lennon Estate approved of her rendition otherwise she wouldn't have been able to perform the song. Billy Preston backing her up was perfect as he recorded with the Beatles on occasion. Considering this was a benefit shortly after 911 happened her spirited version seemed to have pleased the audience. The morale in NYC was still very low and it appears that the New Yorkers that were there were uplifted.
I don't think this shouldn't be sung like this, the unnecessary screaming really spoils the calm and peaceful feeling of this song. On the other hand, it makes you respect John as a singer.
