The Russians have long had an extermination policy against wolves. It is rooted in past history when there were some very serious wolf predations upon farm animals and even humans as well. In times of famine large packs of wolves were known to ram through the doors of farm houses to attack the inhabitants inside. I doubt they still present such a threat. In any case, Sarah Palin would have loved these guys in the video clip.
I don't agree with the reckless hunting and poaching of wolfs but banning wolf hunting completely would have disastrous results both for livestock and for other wildlife.And there were plenty of attacks on humans by healthy wolf.Check Wikipedia's article on recorded wolf attacks.Might not be the most accurate source but it shows that many of the wolves that attacked humans were healthy and weren't infected with rabies.
I'll reserve my judgment here..however i saw poor families in rural kazakhstan who's cattle was completely slaughtered by wolves. 40-50 sheeps at a time. One of the few animals that kill for fun.
Wolves are not killed for no reason. Wolves to not always kill for food, they will kill for sport. These killings include cattle and other livestock. This video is an example of population control, if there were too many wolves there would be less food for them. meaning that they may have to move into more populated areas to hunt. Also, these animals are recieving a farely quick death. maybe not ideal, but it works.
we had a herd of over 100 sheep in syria and they were attacked by a pack over night and over 40 were left dead until we realized what was happening. we took 12 wolves the following week. Although i agree they should be kept in check Im also for the preservation of these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.

any REAL hunter will tell you that hunting from a helicopter is not hunting. No respectable hunter would be caught doing this, they would be embarassed. there is no sport in doing this. My opinion, it is only justified if wolves are posing a threat directly to humans. but to go out and do this is unethical, it's not sporting. I'm stuck on this one. While on one side, I support hunting. It serves a purpose. If a species is becoming too large in number in a certain area, they can end up eating all of their food source and starving. It certainly wouldn't be humane to let them starve to death, would it? Firstly, they are not endangered. Secondly, I myself come from a coiuntry where woods take more than a third of all territory. There are some woolfs, needles to say. There are limits of how many can be shot every year, but time after time hunters have to shoot more as woolf pacs become bigger and (as it is happening right now, this year in my country) they start to behave quite differently than usually - they loose fear for humans, go into vilages, kill livestock, dogs, attack people..

The systems in the US works well despite what a lot of anti hunting people say. Countries like russia or others with low amounts of gov regulation on hunting have issues like this, look at africa. I live around alot of grey wolves and they kill everything around them, ive seen lots of deer with just a little meat taken off of it. Also ranchers lose thousands of dollars worth of calves or sheep were i live, its so bad in british columbia the wolf bounty is back.

The Russians have long had an extermination policy against wolves. It is rooted in past history when there were some very serious wolf predations upon farm animals and even humans as well. In times of famine large packs of wolves were known to ram through the doors of farm houses to attack the inhabitants inside. I doubt they still present such a threat. In any case, Sarah Palin would have loved these guys in the video clip.

I don't agree with the reckless hunting and poaching of wolfs but banning wolf hunting completely would have disastrous results both for livestock and for other wildlife.And there were plenty of attacks on humans by healthy wolf.Check Wikipedia's article on recorded wolf attacks.Might not be the most accurate source but it shows that many of the wolves that attacked humans were healthy and weren't infected with rabies.

Wolves are not killed for no reason. Wolves to not always kill for food, they will kill for sport. These killings include cattle and other livestock. This video is an example of population control, if there were too many wolves there would be less food for them. meaning that they may have to move into more populated areas to hunt. Also, these animals are recieving a farely quick death. maybe not ideal, but it works.

we had a herd of over 100 sheep in syria and they were attacked by a pack over night and over 40 were left dead until we realized what was happening. we took 12 wolves the following week. Although i agree they should be kept in check Im also for the preservation of these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.

any REAL hunter will tell you that hunting from a helicopter is not hunting. No respectable hunter would be caught doing this, they would be embarassed. there is no sport in doing this. My opinion, it is only justified if wolves are posing a threat directly to humans. but to go out and do this is unethical, it's not sporting. A hunter enjoys the sporting aspect of hunting, the chase, finding and ethically dispatching animals. only rich idiots do this because they can afford to. sad, really.

I'm stuck on this one. While on one side, I support hunting. It serves a purpose. If a species is becoming too large in number in a certain area, they can end up eating all of their food source and starving. It certainly wouldn't be humane to let them starve to death, would it? On the other side, I LOATHE hunters who kill for sport and not for food. It's pointless and makes you a douche. From what I can see in this video they might either be park rangers or assholes with a hard on for hunting.

Firstly, they are not endangered. Secondly, I myself come from a coiuntry where woods take more than a third of all territory. There are some woolfs, needles to say. There are limits of how many can be shot every year, but time after time hunters have to shoot more as woolf pacs become bigger and (as it is happening right now, this year in my country) they start to behave quite differently than usually - they loose fear for humans, go into vilages, kill livestock, dogs, attack people..

Dear Canis Lupus - you are welcome to your OPINION as it is ONLY an OPINION. Wolves and large predators are removed "pre-emptively" because people CHOOSE not to wait to defend themselves. Same as FORWARD DEFENSE. I didnt watch the video cause I didnt have to, to know the prejudices involved. Killing will not stop and is not bad or good. I butcher animals for food, whether wild or domestic,and I defend my stock, by taking out predators before they choose their time and place of attack.

Wolf hnting is not a black and white issue. Areas in the US where they have depleted 75% of the elk herds because the wolves enjoy protected status is just against any common sense. Then, there are genuine areas where wolves populations are dwindling so they need to be protected.
The federal govt has to step and do a better job. And I dont agree withthe all the trigger happy rethugs, specially , Palin the Dim

Once and for all: There is no difference whether the hunter is german, russian, american, canadian or from any other country - the hunting and killing of wild animals like the wolf is wrong, especially when this happens for reasons like "tradition", "trophies", "fun" or "preventive actions". Thank god, we nowadays have free-living wolves in germany again - and this time it's up to us and our future generations to make sure that they are not get wiped out again.

So you think man must kill every wild animal that could become a danger for pets and people? So nothing about killing elephants, deers and hippos, which kill more humans each year than wolves and bears together worldwide? What about pets and livestock (e.g. dogs, horses) that also kills more humans than wolves do? Even huntsman annually kill more people (accidently) and dogs (willfully) than wolves do.

Good example of bad hunting. There are examples of good and bad hunting. Because of the changes we as humans have introduced to the eco-system it is necessary to control populations with hunting. The systems in the US works well despite what a lot of anti hunting people say. Countries like russia or others with low amounts of gov regulation on hunting have issues like this, look at africa. A lot these countries couldent stop this even if they wanted to.
